Menu 42 with Super Formula? Or other suggestions?

I’ve started to get comfortable with driving a 2019 Toyota Super Formula around the Daytona segment for Menu 42 but I haven’t finished it yet. Can I win if I set the Fuel Map to Lean and not pit stop ant all? Or will I run out of gas short of completing the 10 laps? Am I going in the right direction with this or do you have any other suggestions for cars, settings, etc? I am not very good at the game as I will well admit. What I like about the Super Formula is that it is grippy and I can turn easily at higher speeds. Thanks.

Also these are my first races with pit stops. If use the the Mazda, at what place should I be when I pit to be in a good position to finish at least 3rd? And do I put around the 5th lap?

Just pit at the half way point in the race and you should be fine.

Thanks. What fuel map and when should you pit stop?
It’s easy to work out when to stop for a refuel.
When you first get a new car, select FM1, drive a lap and it will show you how many laps of fuel you have left.
After 1 lap, do you have enough to finish the race or not?
If not, either plan to refuel or reduce fuel consumption by increasing FM.
It takes a couple of laps to work out either how many fuel stops you will have to make, or what FM setting allows you to do the least number of stops, or maybe no stops.
For example, after running a race a few times you will soon see if no stops at FM6 is quicker than 2 stops at FM1, or 1 stop at FM4.

I’m just worried abt getting it exactly right for Menu 42, especially the Daytona which I am attempting now. The cars seem to go so much faster than you. I am going to try the Mazda. Will I be able to win with Automatic transmission? I am not very good and have usually been using auto for most races. Or will that slow me down so much that I can’t place 3rd in easy mode?

I’m just curious if it’s possible to place in the race on auto transmission because of the speed increase when manual shifting properly and possible fuel savings? Or should I learn manual shifting now? I’m more of a casual driving game player usually.

First of all , don't be so anxious for it , refueling is a matter that you have to use very often from a certain level at the game .
@grandpakool explain it very well, personally i did these races on FM6 with the mazda but i don't remember at what lap i pit , i guess was late close to the final laps .

Also you will have to deal with rain weather in some races which means you have to pay attention at the weather radar and " calculate" if you can stay out or you're force to pit cause if heavy rain occurs you're " dead" on wrong tyres .
Under these conditions you have to switch at MT gearing ( pause , options, etc ) in order to use long gears to help you till reach the pits .

I use Only AT gears except this case i mention above .

For the Daytona menu 42 race with the Mazda, do you suggest setting the traction control to a very low value (0 or 1), and try to do some drifting around the corners? Or do I keep it at a high value and slow down more due to the traction. Thanks for all your help. And the others that replied as well.

What difficulty are you playing on? You should still be able to win with auto shifting. I did this race with the McLaren VGT (Gr.1), but there are definitely better cars out there for this race. The two Mazdas LM55 and 787B are supposedly very good for this race.

I made a post about my run here:

You can check the description in my YT video for the strategy I used, but please note that I did this race when it was v1.25, so the BoP/setup may not be applicable now since the major phyiscs overhaul in v1.31.

I’m playing on easy difficulty with automatic transmission. With the Mazda LM55, should I set the traction control to low and try to drift through the corners? Or can I leave traction control at a higher setting?

You should generally avoid drifting/sliding through the corners. Subtle rear or 4-wheel drift out of the corner is okay, but anything more will slow you down. Remember you want to move forward, not sideways. You can use TC if you’re having trouble with throttle control (how much of it to use is dependent on your skill level), but once you start getting better, you should try turning it down or completely off as the consensus is that TC slows you down in GT.

I suggest you start learning manual transmission as soon as possible. At first you will be slower, but it doesn’t take too long to learn. Set a time with automatic transmission, then try to beat it in manual. After a while you will find manual is quicker. It is much easier to fuel save with manual. I never use auto now. You can shift earlier or later, for me it’s better fun. Good luck!

I cleared this menu using the SF19 and I believe I did have to pit in each race so it might be smarter to use RS. I revisited these races yesterday and was able to win with the F1500-T using RS tires but I did need to run FM6 to get 5 laps at the Daytona race.

Did you use overtake a lot?

I did not know how to use overtake back when I did these races the first time through LMAO so it’s not absolutely necessary but it probably wouldn’t hurt in the straightaways unless you’re really hurting for fuel, I’m not sure if the overtake affects fuel economy or not to be honest.

I did the Suzuka race over again with the SF19 on RS tires and FM1. I had to restart once because I switched to wet tires when I didn’t need to and the wet tires wore out super quick on the dry track and I spun several times, so I paused and hit restart (so the weather would be the same) and pitted at the end of lap 6 for fresh RS tires and some fuel and I crushed it, even lapped some of the field. I didn’t use any overtake.
