hopefully see some online racing using Nascars on circuits rather than ovals all the time now
 
I have done 2 of the new Nascar races, and they were great fun. Although a bit easy. Made 3million in 15minutes. Plus 2 tickets.
 
finally get some XP!
 
The seasonal was quite easy, it would have been nice if we could use our own cars though.

yeah, i only had to restart because my dog sat on my pedals :crazy:

And starting on warm tires is nice, is that a new thing? i don't recall ever starting on warm tires, which is kind of silly for a running-start race
 
Bit of a meh seasonal tbh, I don't really care for racing suits but a load of cash and XP so thats good (As has been said it would have been better if you could have used your own NASCAR as I have a Camry setup well, fun for beating Lambos online hehe) The races were a tad too easy though, and the drift/time trials didn't take long to gold.

I would like to see a Rally Cross Seasonal, theres enough rally stages that are under used in this game, so racing on these stages would be great fun :-)
 
Terrible. Fake NASCAR physics combined with forced SRF is the worst ... it's so unrealistic. I did Suzuka for the suit (which I'll never wear anyway) and won't bother with the rest. Back to the Le Mans cars, which is one event they've done right.
 
just noticed SRF is on, i was wondering why the cars felt so docile. Usually they don't like any low speed corner

Imagine it's one of those NASCAR caution flags just before the end of an endurance race. They very frequently bunch the entire field up, deleting any progress any car made over the last 490 miles. The real race is the last few green flag laps.

My only complaint for these seasonals is that I can't disable some of the aids. SRF, obviously. Just give me the option.
 
Hey guys I heard that there was this event and a new time trial, can anyone tell me the courses, prizes and exp. for the time trial? Also when do these two end? Sorry if this has already been answered, busy with high school.

That is just nuts. I got to level 38 last night after doing the NASCAR races. Almost a year later, I'm over the halfway mark!!! :dopey:

As for the seasonals, I was really dissappointed with how easy they were for the amount of prizes that you win. I run the NASCAR cars pretty often and it was so easy with the SRF on, that I got through every race without bumping any cars or going off track. I wish it would've been like the Lotus and Subaru events. Those took me a couple of days to finally gold them. Having already golded these, and knowing they are so easy without being able to adjust the weight or power to make it more competitive, I can't see myself really doing them more than a couple of times. And I was really hoping to get back into racing again with this series. I don't see how my car can be so much faster than the rest of the field when they all have identical specs. I'm not trying to whine, but I guess I did anyways. :ouch:

I went and prepped my Fusion for the seasonal and then I found out they give you cars to use! Damn it. :lol:

I'm not too bothered about having SRF forced on, but the event seemed too easy in general. You'd think an event where you can win Jeff Gordon's suit would actually test your skills somewhat like the Expert Challenges do.

I'm not complaining though. Especially considering how sweet Jeff's suit looks.
 
I have to agree about it being too easy (7 laps at Suzuka was totally unnecessary), but it was still fun as hell. Everything about it was fun to me honestly. Im not a great fan of NASCAR, but the stockcars are fun to drive, especially when you put them on tracks they would never see in real life. And i really liked the change up in prizes, though i do like racking up those helmets and suits :P

So ya, easy, but well worth it and very fun.
 
These NASCAR seasonal races made me notice that the NASCAR Ford Fusion has a slightly different exhaust sound compared to other stock cars.

I thought that too. I have all of the Toyotas and Most of the Chevy's but never drove the Ford until this event. And it did sound different. Didn't feel any different. I'm gonna have to buy one now, so I can test it out without the aids to see how it drives compared to the others. I'm guessing the same as it should.

To me, with ABS off and 10/3 brake distribution it seemed to perform more poorly than other stock cars when braking (more force on the pedal needed to lock tires, and more abrupt transition from/to non-locked/locked front wheels) but that could have been due to differences in track grip on Rome Circuit compared to other ones.

I was really bummed about the SFR being forced on us. I still had a lot of fun. I won Suzuka on the first try, but I like Suzuka and know the track pretty well. Trial Mountain and Indy were really easy as well. For some reason it took 6 tries (a 6th, 4th, 2nd and 3 restarts) to do Rome. I tried to not use the guy in front of me as my brakes, even though the AI seemed to have no qualms about pushing me around a bit.

Hopefully there will be more special events with other types of racing.
 
I suspect SRF being locked on is less for us than it is to keep the AI on the beam. They were a lot less prone to being tail-waggy than we've seen in other NASCAR-based races (c.f. the Grand Valley B-Spec remote race).

Got Trail Mt. and Indy on the first tries, Rome on the third and have Suzuka to redo. Rome requires a bit of trial and error on braking points, and it's easy to overcook the kink leading into the back straight. Said overcooking is an automatic L because you lose too much momentum hitting the barrier. Also have to be very careful about passing at either of the 90-deg corners; in fact it's probably better to stay in line there and go for it at other spots, particularly on the right-left sweeper leading up to the Colosseum.

Suzuka, had my usual Degner-through-Spoon issues. Damn gravel traps. But was within sight of the lead and so will get the suit provided I can just stay on the track for seven laps.
 
I think it would be better if God Mode wasn't forced on, because it made the Trial Mountain race a walk in the park (first place before Lap 3 is even over?).


That being said, it was fun to have a race for the NASCAR vehicles, and as soon as I burn up my credits somehow I'll be sure to do the other 4.
 
Zippy's right. The Nascar races are ridiculous with SRF off, as the AI really can't handle the heavy cars.

I like GT5 and don't really think the AI is nearly as bad as so many people complain it is, but this is definitely one shortcoming.
 
Turn all assists of, if you're finding it a breeze. It's not as easy. If you're turning all assists off and still winning by 10-20 seconds; hats off to you!
 
To make them more challenging there should have been only 3 laps for each event.

Is it possible to put the Jeff Gordon suit on your driver? I couldnt find the option, when I look at the suit there isnt option to apply the suit

Click your profile image in the top left corner and change it that way.
 
I was glad they DIDN'T disable SRF. If they did, it would have been impossible. Any way, did the first 2 on the first try, Suzuka on try 2, and Rome on try 10. Sucks that I bought a NASCAR before it then got the EXACT same one from the ticket.
