New DLC's every two Months, Says Kazunori Yamauchi

No it wasn't the name was Spec 2.0 not SPEC II. You were the one hyping yourself to death and now you are complaining cause it didn't meet your excessively high expectations.
There is literally NO difference between Roman numerals and regular numbers. I wasn't asking for that much either, I just wanted more freedom in course maker and more car customization. Excessively high expectations? I think not. You and that other guy have missed every point Toro and I have given, therefor I conclude you have no reading comprehension at all.

Really? Really?

You drastically underestimate just how unbelievably low my expectations were for the update.

If you had such low expectations then how come you are complaining about the features added? And all the DLC that is coming. The DLC/spec 2.0 was better then what I expected it to be and I am just getting excited for what's still to come. If you have such low expectations, why come around here at all? You are bringing this forum down with your constant putting down a game this BOARD IS DEDICATED TO.

Hmmmm...... Ok then so when we get to spec2.9 are you going to be jumping around with excitement expecting THE 3RD VERSION of gt5 at spec 3? I hope not as that's what you thought spec 2 ment

But you are wrong there. The difference is PD knew that SpecII on GT5p was a big deal and had a robust feature addition. They knew that GT5 2.0 was not as robust so they changed it to show it is different.
I am in the same boat as you. Would love for more track maker tools, but I am not getting my hopes up as PD is focusing more on content ADDITION to make Money for more licenses to real like tracks/cars.

Is it possible that I can read through a thread without wading through an argument? Thanks.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited. This DLC was pretty unimpressive IMO, so I haven't bought it. But if the next ones are better, I probably will buy it.

I welcome advent of DLC. My hope for Gran Turismo is that it essentially becomes a game engine with sprawling content. I do worry, like analog said, that they might withhold the tools for us to make stuff ourselves, so they may sell us what they (very slowly) make.

I suggest you look up the definition of irony before you say things like this.

You just love to argue don't you? Wow. You're only proving my point further.

Complaining about complaining is the very definition of "talking to hear yourself talk" because it does nothing but amount to whining because others have a different opinion than you; so I suppose it stands to reason you didn't feel fit to take my advice. A shame, that.

This still isn't a refutation.

I always thought of it like this, when you say something you think is important or you think people care about so they'll think highly of you, but they really don't, but you carry on anyway. I'm not saying your doing it by the way..

]This still isn't a refutation.

What do you want me to refute? You have your own opinion that GT5 2.0 sucks. I have my own opinion that GT5 2.0 is starting to show the Diamond in the rough.

I think they thought Spec 2 would be GT5.5.That would be called Spec 5.0 .
Spec 2 was an update, Not a new game.I dont see how a massive update would = an 0.01 update.

I for one welcome the DLC they will release. There's a huge gap in the current car lineup (mostly more recent cars) and we could definitely use some more tracks. 👍

And best of it all: if you don't like a DLC pack, you can simply not buy it, how amazing is that?! :D

Kazunori Yamauchi: Of course we're working on GT6 already and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6. Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that's really the market difference.

This sounds for me that we will see GT6 on the PS3, because otherwise he had said that there are things, they can´t bring on this system.

Or he could be saying if the PS3 can't handle a feature or addition it will be saved for PS4 and GT6. An example could be a feautre like Youtube uploading. He is not going to tell us directly that GT6 will be on an unannounced system, not yet at least. There really no way for us to know exactly what he meant.

@ Torondado: Never seen a person here, which can debate better than you. (no irony)

I totally agree with you. GT5, as of now, is STILL not that, what PD promised us for the first day...

But you are wrong there. The difference is PD knew that SpecII on GT5p was a big deal and had a robust feature addition. They knew that GT5 2.0 was not as robust so they changed it to show it is different.

Do you actually believe that yourself? According to that logic, GT5 should be called GTV....

GT6 for PS3 or PS4 makes quite a difference. Definitely a missed question by the reporter, or as you said they are simply not allowed to talk about yet.

Ok guys Stop the arguments :)

Anywhoo, What is everyone top DLC packs they would want E.g. Trucks, hypers, supers, racers, muscle, etc and what would you like to be in it

Do you actually believe that yourself? According to that logic, GT5 should be called GTV....

Actually no. Gt5 as it is now works with the 2.0 update. If they had used the Roman numeral when it came out then it should continue with that style. But as I stated before PD knew the difference in addtions from GT5p to GT5p SpecII were not as much as GT5 to GT5 spec2.0 and thus did it to differentiate.

Great news, hope they start to add some modern super/sports cars to the line-up along with tracks from past GTs

The DLC/spec 2.0 was better then what I expected it to be and I am just getting excited for what's still to come.

How can spec 2 have exceeded your expectations?
Here's what was promised by Kaz a few weeks before spec 2, and what we actually got:

Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
> Only a few (Prowler, Caterham) are simplified interior views. All others are just frames.

User control of the weather change feature.
> Not in A-spec.

Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
> Thanks for bringing back what we had in earlier versions. Too bad it's bugged.

New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
> Nothing to do with the gameplay unfortunately.

Improved UI response and usability.
> Very few changes there, for sure not the overhaul it needed, not even close.

Replay forward/rewind.
> Not everywhere in the game, and implemented in the most simple way. Should not be called forward/rewind but skip forward/backward. In 1991 I played "Stunts" on my AT PC and it had all the real replay functions one would expect. That's 20 years ago!

Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
> Ok. Implemented in the most basic way, but it's there.

Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle races…).
> It's something, but not enough to find a decent room. I use online for free run, it's the only way it works for me.

Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
> Is this really what the game needed most?

Added NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel.
> Same as previous. After the novelty wears off (which is after 30 seconds), it's just useless.

Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
> I'm not a nascar fan, I don't see the difference between the 2010 and 2011 models. Even the livery seems the same as the 2010 models.

Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
> Another GT-R, but better than nothing.

Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
> AI still sucks.

Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.
> Is this a feature? No it's a fix.

So what else did Kaz say on 2.0:
"We have added cars such as the newest NASCAR race cars"
> Such as? Yes, one other car -the GTR- and that's it.

"but many of the updates are those that improve usability and expand the field of game play"
> Many? The only update that ever had a substantial improvement to gameplay was with the introduction of seasonal events, in a 1.x patch. Spec 2 did nothing to gameplay.

So now on the DLC Kaz says he "thinks maybe new DLC every 2 months or so". I think in real life I drive a Ferrari Enzo. Or so. Maybe.

If your expectations were really that low, how come you're now all excited?

Every two months or so means plenty of time to get those Nurburgring variations that you can see in demos but not race on. I know for sure there's a variation of the Type-V course which uses the full M-B Arena (as opposed to the shortcut), and a variation of either the Type-V course or 24h course which uses both the full arena and tighter chicane from the GP courses.

I was joking obviously, and still don't believe that's the reason for using 2.0 versus II, I think it's simply because 2.0 (notice the .0 after the 2?) allowes to further continue naming updates simply 2.1, 2.13,5, 2.33,1/3, etc.
Clarity and logic (strange, I know) are most likely the main reasons, not distinction between the scope of updates, why would they deliberately downplay it after initially making such a big deal out of it with a new intro, etc.?

Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.

Glad I'm not alone in thinking this.

ALMS pack? Just to stick it to Forza, though they probably have exclusives on a lot of the cars :grumpy:

My real contribution:

It says SIMPLE INTERIORS. Black frames are simple, if you had actually listened to what was said and not hyped it to death for yourself you would see it is better then not having those cockpit views.
No you can't adjust the A-Spec events but you can adjust it online where you race with friends? Not an added feature well then I guess you should just go back to GT5 1.0 and play there by yourself, Might save you from coming on this board and complaining about the game this board is dedicated to.
Only valid complaint about the UI that I cared for was the slower loading times. Thus in 2.0 they now load the cars after you get into the track, which speeds up the overall loading process as I can go into my settings and have the race ready by the time I tweak a few settings.
AI might "still suck" but it is better then the opposing consoles AI of the past to editions of ForzaMotorsports. Proof on Youtube if you want it.
The Photo addition features are for those people who want to continue pushing the photo FEATURES of the game. Once again not my cup of Tea, but is still a new feature that wasn't there before. The Nascar pitlane isn't what I was hoping but still something new that some people have gotten pretty decent pictures at.
The expanded online features(Including setting weather) is what the community has been asking for. When you enter a room that says GT500 and you see Corvettes that have been down-tuned to enter that's not what the Host wants. Its nice when you actually try out an even field of cars, you might find something you like out of the blue.

I didn't have low expectations but I wasn't going to fall into the hype train of "ALL CARS HAVE FULL INTERIORS", because I knew that was to good to be true. Yes Kaz/PD have promised a lot, and are working to deliver it.

Why even ask that question, we all know what they'll be:

Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline, Nissan Skyline
:drool::drool::drool::drool: 👍👍👍
Hells yeah!!!! :D :D

I'm not really worried at all as to what the DLC will contain, anything is better than nothing. :)

On a very off-topic note: Jersey Shore is the most pathetic, moronic and humanity de-dignifying show I have EVER seen, it is one of the reasons why America is hated for and laughed at.

(I know most Amercians are not like that and these Italo douchebags aren't even American) Rant over.

Thank you for giving us the benefit of doubt on that because you are right, NOT ALL AMERICANS are like that, Although some fall right into that category.

The secret to DLC is if you want it, buy it. If you don't want it, don't buy it. Everyone has their own perception of an acceptable price to content ratio (also known as value) so not everyone will agree on pricing. I would spend quite a lot on DLC for GT5 as it's all I play on my PS3 now, it's as simple as that. The frequency doesn't matter as long as the content is appropriately priced, I'd happily pay £12 every two months if every DLC has as much content as the Spa/TC car pack.

Agreed. It's mainly what I play as well too. I run with a wheel in full chassis so it's physical and good fun and if I'm feeling tired and lazy I'll play a little MW3 with control in my hands. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy the DLC and you will get the dlc in an update just like the last, so you WILL be able to race the tracks online just like users that don't have the DLC now can join lobbies that are running those DLC tracks.

XXI
Agreed. How about we appreciate what we've received and look to the future in a positive state of mind.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Who's to say that EVERY DLC is going to cost the same amount? What is it with so many simple minded people on this site that think "ugh more DLC at 20quid a pop every 2 months - PD sucks" its rubbish. For all you know, the next DLC may well be cheaper. It all depends on what they make available.

Comparing GT to COD is a bit silly too, how do you compare a FPS to a Racing game? Thats like explaining the similarities between a battery and pizza.

Personally, I look forward to seeing what they make available through DLC, and how it will be handled, with regards to actually downloading it.... I know for the Spec 2 linked DLC is was in with the rest of the content for the patch. Will the future DLC be an actual download patch file to add in your purchases or what?

👍 And like I said above I am sure it'll be in a patch because if it wasn't you wouldn't be able to see the new dlc car with the DLC color racing next to you if you didn't have the files in your system

Some people will never be happy , but the worst thing is that almost every thread in GTPlanet turns into a war zone .

Yeah warzones are not liked on my side either. You can even go to the extent of saying THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION and it's MY opinion, it may not change other peoples opinion that disagree, I don't care if it doesn't change their view and they are entitled to their opinion as well, but people still go on the personal attack route to try and make you agree with them.

Would be nice to have the 87-93 mustang 5.0 in gt hatchback and LX coupe models in GT5. Those were great handling powerful cars in real life. I'm not going to lose any sleep if they don't ever add those cars but it would be welcomed.

I saw somebody mention in this thread that the g25/g27 mapping wasn't an addition but was something that should have been in it from the start. Sure it would have been nice in the start, but it wasn't advertised to have it anywhere in my original copy bought almost a year ago now so I consider that an upgrade and anybody that owns a G27 I'm sure agrees that it's a welcome upgrade. My g27 feels the best it ever has. The rest of this is not angled to the user that talked about the g27

I've read others users that have started GT5 recently on a new PS3 and loaded gt5 without the internet hooked up to it and played their game as it was shipped and then after that let it do all the updates and they said it hardly resembled the same game.

I'm looking forward to more tracks and cars and I'm glad we have something that keeps getting better. I've more than received my moneys worth of game time from original purchase and look forward to future patches and DLC. At least I don't have an unused 1 year old 60+ dollar game disk that 18 dollar DLC was purchased for that will now be sitting very rarely if ever used just like my cod black ops now sits since mw3 came out 1 year later.

NotSoSilentBob
It says SIMPLE INTERIORS.
Actually it said simplified, not simple. So like the existing interiors, but less complex. They have delivered the bear minimum of what can pass as "simplified interiors". Can hardly exceed any expectation, can it?

NotSoSilentBob
No you can't adjust the A-Spec events but you can adjust it online where you race with friends?
And that exceeds your expectation again?

NotSoSilentBob
Not an added feature well then I guess you should just go back to GT5 1.0 and play there by yourself, Might save you from coming on this board and complaining about the game this board is dedicated to.
I don't follow your logic.

NotSoSilentBob
Thus in 2.0 they now load the cars after you get into the track, which speeds up the overall loading process as I can go into my settings and have the race ready by the time I tweak a few settings.
So what did *you* expect when Kaz said improved UI and useability, that would be even less than this.

NotSoSilentBob
AI might "still suck" but it is better then the opposing consoles AI of the past to editions of ForzaMotorsports. Proof on Youtube if you want it.
I am not a customer of the opposing consoles. I am a customer of GT5, which promised me "improved AI". Yes my expectations where too high, I really thought we were gonna get decent AI.

NotSoSilentBob
The Photo addition features are for those people who want to continue pushing the photo FEATURES of the game. Once again not my cup of Tea, but is still a new feature that wasn't there before. Again the bear minimum. It didn't help me yet to find a room with evenly matched cars.

NotSoSilentBob

I hope so, but their track record lately doesn't look good.

Please stay on topic in this thread - I don't want to see spec2.x discussions popping up here thanks 👍
