New seasonal events look pretty difficult.

For this bend, I started braking just slightly before you turn right then try to accelerate from the apex to give you a fast exit. Don't brake too severely, try to keep speed up as much as possible.

It sounds like my technique is right, must just need more finesse overall

What about the U-turn at the end of the long straight. By the end of my session last night I would go out against the trees on the right then tap the brake and shift down and get as tight to the apex as I could. I'd then exit out against the far dirt wall at about 60MPH. Is there anything I can do differently here.

I also realize I didn't add the wing last night. Could this give me 1 second a lap? Maybe that's all I'm missing.

You cut the corkscrew :scared:
Nothing against it (PD could have enabled penalties if they really wanted to avoid this), but it's doable even without doing that.
Cutting the cork screw is actually slower, because your tires won't be cleaned off by the next left, which kills the speed you carry down the small straight.

Finally got first on the Fiat 500 race. Took me about 8 tries. I did add a wing/extension, but I'm not sure it helped too much. The biggest help was setting the transmission to 150km/h (final gear = 153km/h), and then just running 5 clean laps. By going a little wide around the big U-turn after the tunnel, I was able to keep my speed a little higher (important want climbing the hill).

On to the next one.

I went from 45 seconds from 1st to 12 seconds in the fiat race today. 2:05-2:06 lap times so I guess if I can get the :03's that people are saying, I can gold it.

Gearing seems to be key to keep the mph up thru the turns and hills.

Has anyone Done these with auto transmission? I've got 3rd on the fiat and 2nd on the lotus. I know everyone's going to say I should use manual but i've tried a million times to change and my small brain cannot cope!! I don't want grief about not using manual, if I could do it I would! So is it possible with auto or if I should give up!?

Manual is the only way, start small driving manual and DO NOT GIVE UP, start with something slow and work your way up, i just beat the fiat one by .5 secs using every upgrade except LSD and full suspension, the auto in the game is too slow on shifting in places like switchbacks and chicanes.

Get everyhing except LSD and full suspension and any turbos,

ABSOLUTELY NO AIDS WHATSOEVER, congrats to those who can do it w/ aids

Lap times: between 1:02.8 & 1:04.3 (excluding first lap), cut last corner and always be on the inside of a turn except when passing, be as smooth as glass with your turns

Well, I just bought another Fiat, and instead of adding exhausts, turbos and downrating to 51% I just did a stage 1 tune, and added gearboxes etc. that don't add HP. Had to downrate power to about 85%.

It was pretty much the same as car 1!

So I conclude that you can fiddle about with tuning until the cows come home... it ain't going to matter!

What matters is how you drive it!

So, just where am I going to get that extra 15 seconds (3 per lap) from???

I had 3 laps in the high 2:03's, one in low 2:04, and the starting lap around 2:09. A good indicator of a good time, is if you pass the 2nd place car at the corner before the chicane, before the start of the last lap. I wound up passing the first place car at the same point on the last lap.

I've run the lotus one twice now, and came second (around 3 seconds from first). There is still room for improvement from my end; I still let it slide a bit too much.

And FYI, I'm now using a HKS Racing Controller, and always use Auto transmission (just can't get the hang of manual).

I did the 500 after about 10 atempts but to me the lotus one is just impossible I am using the g27 and didnt learn how to drift yet whith the weal... can any one give me a hope?
Sorry about the english I am Brazilian

Add some camber and use a conservative LSD tune and the rear should tame down. When i tried it the car only slid a little on the corner exit, but not so much that i couldn't put the power down. It's actually a really fun little car to drive. just try to be smooth.

Actually you will do better with a full tune but limited to 66hp because you are at 66 hp for longer, your dyno hp line will be completely horizontal meaning you are making max power from 1000 to 6800 rpm then drops off a little at 7000rpm instead of gradually getting to 66 hp and peaking at about 6200ish, your peak has become a plateau!

well im Done with these hurtin events, was able to gold the fiat race after about 100 trys but i only got 4th (i think) on subie and 2nd on lotus(auto trans i normally use mt but i just cant shift this lil POS

if only the cars where FR id prolly have a chance but all these stupid layouts throw me off :( Silvia plz? LoL

good thing im a drifter and couldnt care less about the fancy cars you win from beating these, only thing that bugs me is i guess the $ would have been sweet and how horriable the subie handles,i mean come on? do they really think it cant turn in RL ??? i wonder if subaru would be mad that there car is being so poorly :simulated:

(excuse the lack of prefixs and such my comps messed wont put them in LOL )

Today evening, I will compare.

Is that you? I noticed in this and in the lotus one you showed you had your windshield wipers on :D

Yes, it's me. Turned on wipers are starting to be my trademark;)

I know, I recorded this video as a hint how this can go. Besides, seasonal events are governed by its own rules. In normal races I try to ride clean, do not hang around others and not cut the corners. In Vettel challenges, AMG, the first Seasonal Events and those what are now - every second is its weight in gold.

Lotus one done, that was tremendous fun, throwing that car around Tsukuba.

And my reward? The Oreca Viper :)

Thanks for the tip Roush. It won't help my driving though!!:)

I do have driving line on but as the stupid AI all follow it in a line randomly breaking it's not always easy to stick to! I think this 1 might be beyond my skill level, i've only managed 41 golds on licences so I'm far from being any good! I'll try a few more setups tonight. I think maybe "expert" events is a step to far for me!

I've only got about 30 golds, and I almost gave up 10 times before winning them all, probably took 12 hours of playing to win 3 races. It sounds cliche but practice works, the AI becomes more predictable, and you really need to experiment for your own driving line.

Beat all 3 in auto with DS3 controller. 40 attempts on the fiat race, 2 attempts to win the lotus race, 25 attempts for the subaru race. I prefer rear-wheel drive cars, but never drift because its just slower. 2 days later my right arm is killing me from mashing that joystick forward almost hard enough to snap it off, trying to get that fiat to go faster.

You did well with the Lotus.... I've had about 10 attempts and can't get around 5 laps without at least one big spinoff. Talk about twitchy!

I can't finish in 1st... Tried several times (about 20) and best was 2nd at 2sec behind the 1st... How can I manage to finish 1st?! Damm...

I don't understand all this anxiety about not being able to finish first in these events.
They are called expert events for a reason.
If you are not too good you won't be first. If you have to use all kinds of setups and tuning "tricks" to do it and still struggle - oh well.
Everyone has different abilities. Just because we all like Gt5 and driving doesn't mean we are all pro racers.
I can never get into finals of events like GtAcademy and I still have fun driving and these expert events are very welcome as they are not so very easy as all the other stuff.
Accept your limitations.

well can drive the most cars... but the lotus and the subaru was something "exotic" (handling) the lotus slides over the track and the subaru got some massiv problems with cornor entry

yepp. Thats how they are. Lotus is nervous (always wondered if that thing is really THAT nervous in real life even though its MR) and Sti is a typical "slow in fast out" car but with trail braking the Sti gets really tail happy and slides sideways into turns. Lots of fun but yes it may be too slow but at least the entry understeer can be corrected somewhat.
I never had lot of trouble with the Sti's ingame though. The Evo's understeer much more especially when exiting and thats not how they are IRL as I know how they drive there.

I LOVE those events! I absolutely loved the first few seasonal events when they came out, they were just as hard. I love a challenge :-)
