The 2000GT was a hoot to drive round the mountain!
 
Has anyone tried refreshing the race to see if you sometimes don't get the Dome in the line-up? This is the case with some other events, and you kinda get two races for the price of one, chasing the Dome down or a more even race with the car of your choice (modded as required)
 
I used the Lancer 1600 GSR Rally Car '74 , I kinda cheated a little and went for Race Hard tyres but the event was still fun .

I also ran with 0 ABS and dialled the brakes down to 3 / 3 .

It would however be nice to have some GTP feedback based seasonals but I guess we'll just have to take what we get.

I think I don't have old japanese cars in my garage... so maybe I'll have to buy one for this one... but that can wait for tomorrow...:)

2nd TV, Sir. Or a computer monitor. I recently dragged my old 22" HP TFT outta the cupboard and parked it on a cardboard box at the end of the sofa. I then ran a DVI-HDMI cable between the PS3 and the monitor.

I can now play GT5 (or whatever) and my wife can watch all the soaps and reality TV she likes. You're welcome... :sly:👍

Took my KPGC10, slapped a sport filter and some adjustable suspension on it (-5 front and back, -1.0 camber back and front) with sports hards and had three excellent races. The car behaves like a dream. Restarted Tsukuba the first time to avoid the Dome.

Then came the 4th race and there it is, Dome. Beating me by like 15 seconds in the end :( I don't want to be a wuss and use the Dome for these races, but I think I might be forced to. :(

Not a wuss if you use a dome but use comfort soft.

Frankly, I can't win all races with stock dome on comfort soft (with dome on pole) In fact for the night race, I resorted to sports soft to overtake the dome. I believe doable in sh (which i manage in other races with dome) but i keep overheating my tires. Dome is quite tail happy without srf on comfort tires (reminds me of miura).
 
I can feel Dome vs Z coming up. Should be good on twisties but no chance on a fast track.

Also fancy an attempt in that majestic early 60s Skyline. I have so many of these cars to choose from...👍
 
Ahhhhh... Finally a Trial Mountain Seasonal for my beloved Isuzu Bellett.
 
Hmm, if you run at around 370-380PP and the Dome turns up, you've got an interesting race. If it doesn't you'll easily beat anything. So to keep it competitive I've found that I have to change my car or tuning level for each race depending what the opposition is.

240Z is great fun for this one, plenty of four wheel drifting with just enough power to induce oversteer when required. My 240Z is gold chrome, which I wouldn't recommend as it looks a bit like a sex toy. :lol: I've been running this on CS and SH tyres.
 
I love the Japanese Classics! I used my maxed out Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT-R '69 just to grab some quick cash and xp, but I'll be spending some time in stock models on this series, for sure.

I can't wait to use the Celica 1600GT (TA22) '70, Mitsubishi Galant GTO MR '70, and all of the early Skylines and Hondas. 👍
 
love the old school Japanese cars, sooo many gems to choose from. Looking forward to this seasonal ALOT.. I'll be testing a ton of these cars out now, and actually making money with them
 
I am enjoying the Japanese Classic seasonal races. I have already used three cars I had to race with so that's a huge plus in my book.

However...

Where is a Seasonal that features the two tracks I purchased? Not complaining, but I would sure love to earn some credits and XP on Spa and the Kart track!
 
I've been loving my 78' Fairlady lately so this update is perfect. Now I just need to dial it down or grab a different Fairlady since I had my old one maxed out and running against classic super cars.
 
I used the Spoon "68 Race car with CS.

It's a rail on the turns but so low on HP it has no go. You can nip the dome with it. It gets so far ahead the first 2 laps and then you start to reel it in. You have to block on the straights though or it will just blow by you till the next turn...
 
Used the 71 nissan 240. With bolt ons, no engine or weight stage mods. 400pp comfort soft. Im not sure if it was my accidental tune but the car is smooth.
 
If only it had been for 1970 and older, then it would have been interesting.
 
But the problem with this seasonal is the AI Dome Zero is quick, for me to win the race I can only use Dome Zero, I don't see other car can keep up with it. It kinda takes out the fun factor of using different cars to win unlike the compact car race and 90s cars

All I did was lower the suspension by 5 clicks and stiffened the shocks by 2, added full transmission (didn't touch the gears) and put on the 2-plate clutch and racing flywheel. No tricks or fine tuning, it just drives like a dream.

and you could beat the dome zero?
 
Yup. The hardest was the first time at Tsukuba where I overtook the Dome halfway down the main straight after the last hairpin on the last lap. The 240Z works well on low grip tyres as you can get away with not braking as much as you think and let her four wheel drift. :)
 
Seems like the 2000GT is a good match for these races. Totally stock if there's no Dome, but you might need the short box for Tsukuba. If the Dome is in the race, then sports meds & about 395 pp worth of upgrades ought to do it. I put the 'box & suspension on as well, but I'm going to try it again without, as the car handles surprisingly well on standard springs and comfort tyres. Controllably drifty and I don't normally like drifty cars when using a wheel.

PS So far the Dome always appears at Tsukuba, after 3 or 4 retries. Anyone found any different?

That Dome car always threw out the race balance in the A/B spec races it appeared in.

The Dome-Zero really jacks things up. When it's not there, you can have some close races--when it is there, you can be in the weird position of coming in 2nd 15 seconds behind the Dome and 15 seconds in front of 3rd place. I'm surprised PD didn't notice that when/if they beta-tested the seasonals.

I'm kind of surprised PD did another Japanese-only one after they just had the 90's Japanese event. Why not do a PD Cup, Dream Car Championship or GT All-Stars seasonal so we can use these DLC Touring Cars??

No. It's always at Tsukuba and Toscana for me.
