This isn't different from any other seasonal or A-spec in general. PD always programs one car that breaks out from the pack. Maybe in this seasonal the time difference is a little bigger, but go back to any seasonal or A-spec challenge and one car always busts out to a big lead.

I would rather play a game where the AI were swapping positions through the field and we could tune a car to compete with them and maybe have some photo finishes with three other AI? I would find that more fun.

Used the 71 nissan 240. With bolt ons, no engine or weight stage mods. 400pp comfort soft. Im not sure if it was my accidental tune but the car is smooth.

This car is awesome. Like you, I didn't use the engine or weight stage mods. Beat the Dome round Suzuka on Comfort Softs. Beat a non-Dome field on Comfort Hards (much less smooth!)
 
I used the 280zx, 1st time I've used it anger so to speak and loved it, powersliding round some of the bends felt great.
 
Is it me, or has the rendering on the standards somehow gotten better?

As it goes, before I turned in, I had one last go and there was no Dome at Tsukuba, and I was right, it's damn near impossible to win with the 2000GT unless you drop in the close ratio box. Even then, you'll never see 5th, although I did win with an otherwise standard car.

PS has anyone noticed there's next to no buzz about this one? There's not even the usual duplicate thread.
 
Nice seasonal ruined by one car. I can beat it every time with the 74 rally car on CS tyres but most of my other pre-79 cars don't stand a change in standard tune.

If you can accept 2nd place there's some good battles to be had.

The Dome does throw a monkey wrench into it. I was using a Datsun 510 at 376pp on comfort soft, took second. I had to go up to 420pp on sport hard to catch that beast of a Dome.
 
What I do is use what I think has a good chance, then if the Dome shows up just up the tyre quality.

Always seem to have a good race that way, without wasting time resetting the field.

By the way, I love the 1970 Celica what a blast.
 
Toyota 2000GT, with only sport level class upgrades, handles surprisingly well on comfort softs. I Think PD added grip level or something nice just happened since 2.0.
And as with any seasonal algorithm, the higher pp of your chosen car, the quicker the lead car will be, but all allowable pp ranges are doable
 
I shoved my 2000GT up to 398pp in order to beat the Dome at Tsukuba, although that's on sport med tyres, rather than the comfort sifts used on the 371pp setup for non dome races. I prefer the lower rated setup to drive, so now they're all gilded I might see what the least I need to beat the done elsewhere. On the other hand, maybe I should be trying some of the other car choices
 
Dome or no Dome. What stands out the most in this SE is the AMAZING Toscana track. Those first turns of this track are so sick! I wish we could save the track to race on it with different cars!

^This! There have been a few of those created tracks in past Seasonals that I would love to be able to add to my online tracks. 👍

I came here to post the exact same thing about the Toscana track. I have never been on a custom track that has such a nice flow about it! It was just incredible fun.

I raced it twice, beating the Dome both times with my KPGC10. :D

I was so impressed with the performance of this car I gave it a bath, new patch of oil, an engine rebuild and painted it with Bronze chrome(or copper, I don't know, came with the DLC) and now it's sitting happily in my garage as one of my favourite cars. :)

edit: I went to check on the KPGC10 name, and as it comes out, I actually used a KPGC110. The KPGC10 was produced from 69-72 and looks totally different than this '73 :P
 
Just love the Toscana! After racing it, the first thing I thought of doing was sharing how much I enjoyed it, as you said it, it has a nice flow to it...First section mostly!

Same here, racing with a '70 Lancer 1600. Gave it a nice treat after racing it, for I liked it so much!

The last track (custom made) was good for a change. CRAP event.
 
Yeah the Dome completely blows away all other cars in this field at all times. If you're fast enough to beat the Dome you're way over powered for everyone else. If you're matched up to everyone else you stand no chance vs the Dome.
 
I like the S800 RSC Race Car. VERY drifty thing :)

True. For grins last night, I took the Dome on Comfort Softs and with only an oil change and tried to beat the SS5 race. The best I could manage after a couple of gos, was 8th place, lol.

That Dome is a p-i-g pig in turns and it's a good thing PD gave it a head-start because I'm thinking the AI can't turn it either. :lol:
 
I decided to try the Toyota SPORTS 800 since it was at the top of the "Typical opponents" list, which list said it had 93hp. Looking at mine, I saw it had only 43hp, so I give an engine rebuild, which gave it... 2hp more! What the...

Does this happen often, I mean that the AI cars in the seasonal events are not stock?

So I upgrade the car a bit, but I was getting nowhere fast. Upgrade a bit more (now at 123hp), now I'm getting nowhere faster... (and with that racing exhaust, it sounds really weird!)

I may have to revise my earlier slander of PD re: this new seasonal.

I bought the Honda 1300 9S '70 from the OCD and tuned it to 139 HP, which is about as far as you can go without any engine rebuilds, and actually beat the Dome at Suzuka East by 1 sec. Nice little car with an air-cooled engine. Best thing about it is that it handles very well in the bends.

What tires were you on? I haven't been able to beat the Dome on any race with any car on comfort softs. Haven't gotten the Dome at Suzuka though.
 
Did these seasonals with the stock 240zg(no oil change). Piece of cake. Dome appeared in Trial mountain and SSR5. I used SS and beat him by 30 something secs in TM. Not fun. Id say if you want competitive race in 240zg use CM or SH if Dome appears.
 
I challenge anyone to win this in the Subara 360.
 
Haven't had a chance to finish these races off. So far I've only won on SS Clubman using the Skyline Sport Coupe (BLRA-3). I'm most likely going to be using the same car for the other races as well.
 
Won Trial Mountain with a stock Bellet (apart from a much needed oil change) on about 355pp, but I think that's probably the easiest one to win as you get more time to catch up to and overtake the lead car. Plus I've had lots of practice in underpowered cars from the Expert Seasonal held there.
