Looks fantastic! I wonder how he already gets the new demo!?

The cockpit looks so great. you can nearly feel all the leather... Long time ago since I played GT5P, already forgotten how good the game looks...

mimaximax sez:
mimaximax — May 18, 2010 — Gameplay of 2002 Ferrari Enzo using a Driving force GT, pro physics and no aids (I think ABS is set on 1). Track is Nürburgring GP. There were only 8 cars on track but i'm positive there'll be more on final release.

Transmission : Automatic (shifters were broken)
Driving Physics : Professional
Driving line : Off
Active Steering : Off
Traction control (TCS) : 0
Front Tires : S2
Rear Tires : S2

Physics seemed a little bit more like Time Trial Demo than what it was in GT5 CES 2010 demo.

Video recorded in 720p@50fps from 1080p Bravia screen, using a tripod, a Panasonic TZ7 and a Zoom H2 recorder.

Note : There were two demos around the Playstation truck running on PS3 Test : one time limited and the other with unlimited number of laps but none of them had the replay function. Option on the main menu was disabled so I wasn't able to turn off music while racing. AI didn't amazed me at all. AI drivers now have names (selected randomly ?) : Titus, Grant, Shawn, Keagan, Jasper, Giovanni, Rodrigo, Keith, Haiden, Phoenix, Yahir, Humberto, Jimmy, Jason, Kai, Jayson, Russell, Jared, Milton, Carlos, Omari, Harper, Zachary, etc. I think it's part of the "more human IA experience" ; maybe one name is linked to one particular behaviour just like in NFS Shift. No more active stability management setting (ASM) in the option menu. Engine noises still sound a "little" poor. The sparks effect looked very poor to me as well, at least, we know sparks will be there.

Graphics seemed to have improved a little bit. Atmosphere around the Nürburgring changed, it was less yellowish than the one in GT5 CES 2010 demo (seasons changes ?). The whole experience felt more like PC sims, with subtle handling and accurate track details but low on effects or polygons ; whereas games like Dirt that have beautiful 3D moving trees and lots of visual effects but got an arcade handling.

Signed,
Your humble copy-n-paster

Enzo vid,
Sure the sound might not be that good but that's because it's from a tv through a cam. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Like to bring the skid sound to your attention whilst your busy dissing the engine sound :]. Sounds very good in my opinion.

Yes I thought that.

Some people just have to complain, i mean c'mon can you really judge the sound off of that video? It didnt even sound that bad either i dont know... Thanks for the video bro!

It's alright to recognize the poor sound of the Enzo. Let's face it; not all cars will sound great. Some cars will sound amazing and some so-so. It's just how it's going to be.

The point is, these are all demos. None are the finished product. So basing a review off an unfinished product is stupid. These TVs don't have the best quality speakers either and I doubt they're hooked up to a sound system through a Receiver or any other type of entertainment center. It looks to me like a PS3 running a demo hooked up to a TV that's all. If you want to write a review or judge a game, do so when it's finished and hooked up to a sound system then run to the TV running at it's highest setting. With surround sound and whatever the latest edition is of sound the PS3 runs.

The engine sound is not what I would expect from an Enzo. I hope this will be corrected, but unless Polyphony deliberately dumbed down engine noises for this demo, I'm afraid this won't change much in the final version.

Hear in this video (or other countless ones on YT) how an Enzo should sound like. The GT5 version only very vaguely resembles it even taking into account that sound quality isn't that high in the video:

Tire rolling noise however appears to be more realistic and invasive like it should be, as we're speaking of a supercar with very wide ones.
Tire squealing also isn't that much different from reality.

Looks awesome!

info
I am, and might be a lot better than you.
Conditions were very bad, read infos : broken wheel, plastic pedals, no sounds because of the recorder so I wasn't aware where the reving and the grip were at, first time ever with the Enzo, etc. Don't forget S2 tires and GT5 pro physics that do not forgive. Remember about GT Academy 2/Time Trial Demo ?

I like the fact the Ford GT was not in line at the rolling start :)

Yes, true. Youtube isn't the #1 choice for judging a video on sound or graphical prowess. But don't be led astray. No game is 100% perfect. No game ever will be. Gran Turismo 5 won't either! So you cannot realistically expect every in-game car to sound perfect in comparison to its real life counterpart.

If you do, disappointment will run high. But I honestly don't expect anybody to seriously hold PD to even that high of a standard; they're human beings.

Still retarded shifting animations.

You can't expect the best sound from a car on a demo with background music that can't be turned off. My point still stands. This is a demo and isn't a finished game. I've never had complaints about GT games in the past with their sounds. When inside a car you'll hear a lot of tire noise and wind noise, not so much an engine if it isn't a race car. Besides if you have a helmet on unless you're driving an F1 car a lot of the noise will be muffled.

You can also see the cars shift weight as they come around the turn into the start

I don't understand all of you here in gtplanet!I''m a huge gt fan but that can't stop me to criticize anyway the game!THE SOUND IN THAT VIDEO(AND ALL VIDEOs SEEN this week)IS POOR!!now you can kill me!!

Ok, it's visually astonishing. But, the sound was the same of the 599 in GT5P!? I know, same engine... but trus me, they do NOT sound the same!

And, of course, I hate the shift animation :yuck: and lack of 900° steering animation... :indiff:

C'mon guys! Maybe the sound quality isn't proper, but if you close your eyes and just listen you'll think you hear a prologue car...

Also, the shifting animation is crap...They'd better stay with prologue's.

just, what I just said...

Shadows look fine in that Enzo vid, for the complainers out there about em

djs
You're not alone, but others in here doesn't seem to see that.
the sound in gt annoying me from time immemorial!!

I wouldn't worry about the sound just yet - for one they are the same as the CES demo

which did not not have transmission whine from the Time Trial. If a Tuned 370z has tranny whine, then so should a Motul Autech GT-R or the other Super GT cars, if they are of the same build, they don't here

just use your common sense and logic

quoting myself from the news thread::p;)
I suppose with each new demo, some new features are revealed, but others remain the same. Like physics, textures of higher quality, new objects around track, effects(sparks) etc., on the other hand engine sounds are still crappy, hand animations are still slooow and so on, but that doesn't mean it will stay like that in the final version. Or at least, i hope so...

Let's hope the final version has better quality for the two things haven't yet been improved.
Engine sound and shift animations.

Cockpit view is undoubtly my favourite cam. However the animations for paddleshift cars (like in the Enzo video) are really awful. The hands barely grab the steering wheel. If PD kept the driver hands like they had on prologue and just add a small movement to 2 or 3 fingers to shift, it would be more real and, probably, less time consuming to add than this huge movement of the hand completly releasing the wheel.

You can compare the hands movement in that GT5 Enzo video with this one:

They do it that way so the hands can be used across 1000 cars etc

They do it that way so the hands can be used across 1000 cars etc

Thats not possible because this animation only fits the cars with paddleshifts, you dont see this on the other cars.

Yes, but there are dozens and dozens of cars with paddles.

Yes, but there are dozens and dozens of cars with paddles.

I dont get your point. Maybe i didnt make myself clear as english is not my language. What im saying, in a simple way, is that there are 2 types of shifting:

Stick shifting
Paddle shifting

The cars with stick shift should have the GT5 Prologue animations. Like this:

The cars with paddle shift should have a small fingers animation like the F1 in GT5 Prologue, like this:

These animations were already been done and look way better/real than the unrealistic ones we saw in Enzo video.
At least, in my opinion.

Waiting for 50fps download that youtube can't provide ;)
Well done, thanks mimaximax! 👍
