It goes in a straight line and when it gets to corners it goes sideways. It suffers from Americas obsession with with 'everything must be big'.

Power figures aren't that great either. I have a 2.0litre Japanese car with 82hp per litre where the Viper only has 60. And my car is 20 years old with no mods.

That's ridiculous statement. Viper and Corvette are nowadays almost last mohicans of true driving experience without redundant electronics and things that just distract from enjoying the drive. They are pure old hardware, just mighty engine, rear wheel drive and limited slip differential. Everything other including Ferrari or GT-R seems to aim its behaviour somewhere like playstation game.

That hp per litre is ridiculous too. It sounds like that 160 hp wretch is better than 600 HP viper. What a baloney! I don't care if manufacturer is producing horsepower from 2.0 turbo or 8 litre V10, the performance usable on a track is what really counts. Viper has fantastic suspension too, it just wants some skill from a driver which isn't always there.

Ditto! Also, instead of some lame-ass paddles, those cars have three pedals! :D:tup:

Yes you do have a point. I don't like new cars with all the electronic stuff. A real car has a proper manual gearbox. You can't say the vette in GT5P has good suspension. It has leaf springs and a live axle.

I still love the Viper, the way it looks and sounds. It's a lot of fun to drive in GT5P.

Oh and the 160hp wretch isn't turbo.

It has a composite transverse leaf and Independent rear suspension, live axle wouldn't work too well with a rear transaxle that Corvettes have.

Just because it is a leaf doesn't automatically mean it is universally "Not good".

More research is needed by me then. I've never seen that type of leaf spring setup.

The ACR Viper looks like a fast car and should be a lot of fun to drive when the game is finally released.

Maybe American cars are a bit vintage and not as high tech or as good handling as the high tech Japanese cars but they still are a ball of fun. Even though the Vette has suspension from the dinosaur age it still handles well, yeah? The Corvette ZR1 is a car i've been looking forward to driving around Nurburgring (and in general) in GT5 since I first layed eyes on it.

The view reminds me of the cockpit view in the sagaris in pgr4, however the sags view is unbearable unlike gt5

I very much like the cockpit view in Prologue. IMO Prologue, along with Test Drive Unlimited and Ferrari Challenge, has the best cockpit view available. 👍 I just hate how in many games that have in-car view you either can't even see the gauges because the interior is so dark (e.g. PGR4), or the view is so close to the dashboard it's disorienting (e.g. Forza 3). Well, different strokes for different folks. ;)

Speaking of TDU, that game also had the nice oprion of being able to adjust the position of the in-car view, something that I would like to see in GT5 as well.

The Joss supercar project (if that is what you are referring to) is from Australia. :p

Sorry about that, was a little tired last night, I meant the Mosler MT900s. Hey the Corvette's suspension is supported by GM's incredible magnetic shock absorbers, some other European cars out source that tech from GM as well, not to mention the LS Engines are some of the most potent and lightweight V8's ever built, award winning engines to boot. When GT5 comes out, lets have a go at some of the American bred machines, I'm sure you'll find them a different kettle of fish compared to the notion of straight line cars from previous generations. 16 car Race across the Nürburgring anyone, just a super car showing I'm in.

The videos in the first post of this thread are the first that I've seen of GT5 game play. I can see that the track map in the upper left hand portion of the screen rotates and appears to be based on the direction that the car is moving.:grumpy: I don't believe that this was the case with previous games in the GT series.

I sincerely dislike this 'feature'(👎), and one of the main reasons that I preferred the GT series over the wannabes, such as Forza and Ferrari Challenge, is that the on-screen map was fixed, with north generally being straight up the screen....sort of like real life.

I really hope that the developers include an option to keep the map in a 'fixed' orientation: ie: prevent it from rotating as seen in the few videos that I bothered to look at.

It might not matter to most GT enthusiasts, but as a surveyor/engineer, I understand that the world does not revolve to suit the direction that I'm facing at a particular point in time.

Judging from the TT demo, you can change the map, fixed, rotating, three zoom levels.
Thanks for the response. What you've stated gives me some hope. Although I downloaded the GT5 Time Trial Demo, I never played it. I sold my DFP to a friend about a year ago, and I was going to buy a DFGT before the time limit on the demo expired, but I have still not purchased a new wheel as of this date.

I'll just have to wait until GT5 comes out before I find out if the player can vary the appearance of the on-screen track map.

you can turn the car with analog stick or driving wheel on car selection menu.

You can press triangle to speed up the rotation.

The new video is nice, two details I found pretty cool are the grass textures and the reflections on the instruments.

All the cars that he has selected is premium cars and all have cockpit view, does it mean that the cars in prologue are premium cars?

Kaz clarifies this point
Right now, nobody knows what "premium" means exactly. Most people (including myself) are expecting ALL cars to have a cockpit view. Premium might mean more detailed modelling of the car in areas that you cannot normally see...until you damage it that is, stuff like the bonnet coming off and showing the engine bay. However, there was talk of damage being limited to race cars only, but as the SLS AMG is a production car, who knows...? I'm sure we'll get clarification soon.

The tracks were also listed as premium. Very confusing.

The "Premium" thing has confused me also. If you remember back at GamesCom 2009 when there was a list of features announced it said this:

■ models included
1,000 vehicles
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5) [Read: Cars we have seen in GT4 before ]

So from my understanding, maybe the "Premium" vehicles have interior damage.

Oh boy, so now some tracks have movable objects that can be damaged, and some don't ;) Maybe it just means that the particular race is for premium cars...???

Meh, as long as being premium does not mean you have to pay extra for it, I don't really mind what it ends up meaning!

I love the menus, and when you're selecting a car.. It's so beautiful!

Can't wait to see what the 'world map' of GT mode is going to treat us to.

Remember the blue bars that appeared on the left of the screen that would give info on position changes during the race, they seem to be gone from all the recent video's.

I wonder if PD scrapped it or if its just not included in the newer demo.

Were they ever in SP races, or only in MP races during GT Academy?
