Can do a nice 50/50 split with the grid between Hypercar and LMGT3.

But thinking maybe the following would be better...

2 x Factory 'red' Ferrari 499p
1 x AF Corse 'yellow' Ferrari 499p
3 x Porsche Penske 963
2 x JOTA Porsche 963
1 x Proton Porsche 963
2 x Toyota GR010
2 x BMW M Hybrid V8
2 x Peugeot 9X8
1 x Peugeot 9X8 in Pescarolo livery (Pescarolo were hoping to run a car at one point)

Then to finish the grid:

2 x 2011 Audi R18
2 x Peugeot '90X' possibly detuned a tad.

Lovely stuff.

This is my reaction:
Parks And Recreation Wow GIF

Also. I have a crazy theory. Since update trailers show only cars (and tracks) and no „additional features” i find adding new safety car for the first time very suspicious… what if PD did add some kind of safety car mechanics for this one and already existing ones??

I've watched the trailer six times, have seen it on the Gran Turismo YouTube channel and website, and I'm still not convinced that I'm not dreaming. This is just too good to be true!

I'm so excited to get stuck into these beautiful machines from my favourite current racing category.

I mean... eh... terrible update! We need more road cars 😏
I bet you're a bit sad that there is no Toyota in :D :D

6. BMW M Hybrid V8 #15
7. BMW M Hybrid V8 #20
8. Ferrari 499p #50
9. Ferrari 499p #51
10. Ferrari 499p #83 (yellow winner)

19. 992 GT3 #92 (winner)
20. 992 GT3 #90

You have almost all of the 2025 grid in the game.

I just hope they finally let us players toggle the safety lights on/off at will.

The Unimog is the only vehicle ingame that allows players to toggle the beacon on/off, but it is tied to the hazard lights.

Also, the beacon is sadly, only available in stock configuration.

This is already the best update to this game and its not even been released yet!

Very unlike PD to do such an update but im all for it. Haven't played GT in a few months but this will definately draw me back in.

Edit: Just realised this is being released the same day I leave to go to the Le Mans race itself so will be a while until it get to dive in

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 “Hypercar Update” Arrives June 11 With Four WEC Prototypes and Safety Car

The first day of the GT World Series 2026 Milan round hadn’t even started its main events before Polyphony dropped a sizeable piece of news: a “Hypercar Update” is on the way next month (Thursday, June 11), and it brings four of the current WEC Hypercar-class prototypes into GT7 alongside the official WEC safety car...

OH MY GOD

OH MY GOD

OH MY GOD

Finally modern top class race cars!!! And some I’ve seen and touched with my own eyes!!!

Most of the hypercar/GTP field was updated/upgraded for the start of this year, so we’re likely on 2025 spec or earlier for most of them.

2025 and earlier BMW nose:

2026 BMW nose:

The Porsche updates aren’t as visually noticeable as BMW and Cadillac, but JDC still runs the 2025 spec 963, so that would be up to date (shots from Daytona and Sebring this year):

But the 2026 Penske liveries will be amazing:

I’m curious how Group 1 will be rebalanced, given hypercars are around 8-10 seconds a lap slower than LMP1 hybrids at Le Mans. I would imagine it was fairly easy to adjust the single gen1 Toyota LMH to meet the faster cars, but idk if they can get away with that with now 5 cars being present from the modern ruleset.

I wonder what the logistics were for scanning them in - maybe during a Fuji WEC weekend? The Ferraris and Peugeots don’t stay stateside near any of PD/Sony’s infrastructure, and have to be shipped back out pretty quick immediately after finishing in Texas. For IMSA GTPs it’d be easier, with Long Beach and Laguna being far closer to Sony’s LA base.

I also just hosted a gathering for an N24 watch party, and had a 4-player setup for the track with some cars that were racing.

SUPER pumped I can do this for Le Mans now with up-to-date machinery!!! And I can get a sense of how these things drive!!!

And finally, this now sets up a precedent for me to ask and beg and hope for the Valkyire LMH, powered and funded by people local to me:

Genuinely wasn’t expecting any fairly up-to-date prototypes, let alone FOUR in one update, let alone an update coinciding with a real-world halo event themed around their inclusion!

To follow-up on my previous comment, I think we could get a new round of the Gr.1 Prototype Series at the following venues, to correspond with the four new LMDH/LMH racers:

Le Mans
Spa-Francorchamps
Monza
Interlagos, Watkins Glen, or Laguna Seca (Maybe even Nurburgring GP?)

I would also be surprised if they don't "retcon" the regulations for the Gr.1 Prototype Series to be limited to actual Gr.1 cars, as I recall something them doing something similar for the Nissan GT-R Cup.

EDIT: For a potential Extra Menu, I could see one featuring three of the four new racers, but I could just as easily still see one for the 2016 LMP1 trio, being the entries from Porsche, Audi, and Toyota.

What an incredible addition.
I hope the Cadillac V-Series, Valkyrie, Genesis and TR010 comes in the near future.

I don’t know about the Alpine, SCG, and Lamborghini. Those seem more likely to vanish.
I have people I can ask at team Heart of Racing about the Valkyrie, they’re a very chill operation and bring a large amount of the funding to make the car exist in the first place, so if they want it present, the biggest of the possible issues would probably be more down to PD having the time to get it modeled. However, the owners of the team have close relationships with Turn 10, and previously offered their assets for the Forza Motorsport team. Not sure if that existing relationship would have them hesitant to initiate with PD or if it’s open season with FM being dead for now.

Toyota and Genesis seem likely given the close marketing partnership.

Cadillac is alive and well, and I would imagine would want to keep marketing their motorsports operations. I don’t know what their relationship is with Forza for the V series, but it’s probably more complicated with Microsoft currently stopping production on new FM games.

Lamborghini isn’t dead, but at the moment has pissed off all of their operational partners. It could return to IMSA, but right now any private team looking to join the top class in GTP or Hypercar would be looking at an alternative partnership with a new entry, like Genesis, McLaren, or Ford, before trying to bring the Lambo back. Since it’s not active it may not be on PD’s target list, however we also don’t know how long this update and scans has been planned or in the pipeline.

Alpine is also complicated, because it’s supposed to be shutting down the program at the end of the year, but further there’s been talks of Renault group shutting down Alpine as a whole. The Endurance program itself is looking at a complete sale of all of their assets to another manufacturer, meaning the A424 could actually keep racing under a new badge, but fundamentally be the same car with the same crew and factory. The most up to date rumor is BYD, who could buyout both that operation and the F1 team, but it’s still very early as far as the rumors go. Alpine’s financial situation could be good or bad for PD’s access to their licenses, so it’s hard to say.

SCG is the least likely, having multiple previous public crashouts over licensing, and afaik, has only appeared in a single game (LMU) that licenses all of the cars that raced in the championship.
Can do a nice 50/50 split with the grid between Hypercar and LMGT3.

But thinking maybe the following would be better...

2 x Factory 'red' Ferrari 499p
1 x AF Corse 'yellow' Ferrari 499p
3 x Porsche Penske 963
2 x JOTA Porsche 963
1 x Proton Porsche 963
2 x Toyota GR010
2 x BMW M Hybrid V8
2 x Peugeot 9X8
1 x Peugeot 9X8 in Pescarolo livery (Pescarolo were hoping to run a car at one point)

Then to finish the grid:

2 x 2011 Audi R18
2 x Peugeot '90X' possibly detuned a tad.

Lovely stuff.
If you’re looking to just fill up the prototype grid, you’d also have these options:

  • 1x yellow JDC 963 (IMSA 2023-2025)
  • 1x Proton Mustang Sampling 963 (IMSA 2023-2025)
  • 1x Mustang Sampling JDC 963 (IMSA 2026)
  • 1x Toyota throwback livery as a theoretical 3rd entry (2 black cars, 1 red total)

Extra alternative, modify a Valkyrie:
  • 2x green Aston HoR WEC Valkyries
  • 1x Blue HoR IMSA Valkyrie

Not sure exactly how to make the in-game car to behave more similar to the race car, I don’t have it in my garage yet. But, the LMH has no hybrid system, 700hp power limit, 1030KG minimum weight, 8500 RPM redline, and the aero had to be reduced for the hypercar/GTP class. Just to reference if people want to start prepping it for a custom race hypercar grid.

The BMW uses a Dallara tub like the Cadillac, but obviously looks very different. The BMW and Lambo have the most similar engine note across the grid, so that could possibly be an alternative scheme for a BMW. Porsche could possibly be made to look like a Genesis with clever livery trickery.

So here's my admittedly rather tinfoil hat-sounding leading question about this reveal: Why a preview, and not just throw up the actual June update trailer?

It's not like they haven't done it before (the Eiger reveal was straight up the trailer). The preview was absolutely cut like a regular update trailer, it would have been very easy for them to put the car names in the single car shots and "Gran Turismo 7 June 2026 Free Update" at the start.

Are we just not getting a fully-edited trailer this time around? Or is it because there's more to this update that's trailer-worthy and is yet to be revealed?
