The Texans didn't show up at Oakland. The players just seemed absolutely sad. Like they should have won this (and should have), but they didn't show up. Being beat by 11 is bad, but not as bad as when (and I know Zrow will smile here) Baltimore handed us our asses earlier this season. If we play like this next Sunday when we host Chicago, we're going to be 7-9 and probably lose by 21.

My Texans host Chicago next Sunday, but who you got tonight between Green Bay at Chicago?

Going to go with Green Bay they have'nt played as bad as their record & the Bears have played over their heads, same old issue for Dbears NO QB.:dopey:

Now that my dreams of a New York/New York Superbowl are all but ruined (my main reason for cheering for the New York Bretts), I want Miami in. Against who, I don't care. Nice game for Buffalo, though.

Oh man!... I'm in the final for my fantasy football league and don't know if I should start Campbell or Garrard at QB. They both are not great, but I'm leaning towards Campbell because he is less not great (or more?).

Damn. Buffalo is windy! The uprights are getting hyphy with the wind whipping around the stadium.

Wow, Buffalo just tried a field goal... they missed terribly. The kicker literally kicked it left and it went back to the right pylon. Nightmare conditions for the kickers.

edit: Wow, I'm watching my Dolphins game now, and it's like a total hailstorm of commercials. They know that almost everyone in south Florida is watching.

I know I'm late with my college football updates, but let me just comment on the NFL a bit.

TEXANS: Congratulations! Hopefully we can go better than 8-8. Not sure if by leaps and bounds, but we got something to build on for next season. Never give a good team nothing to lose.

DETROIT: "Attack of the Show!" has a segment on it that describes Detroit: Epic Fail. Let's see who they draft in April of next year. I still say this is why I keep saying we're not the sorriest team in the NFL like some make us out to be. Teams do much worse than us. The 2008 Detroit Lions are a miserable fail. Kansas City won games. St. Louis won games. Cincinnati won games. Detroit failed to. Detroit needs to get its game together for next season because this one was a miserable fail.

And that be it!

Bee
*facepalm*

Damn it Brett, what the hell man?

The only thing better than beating the Jets is beating the Jets and crushing Patriot playoff hopes in the process. :D

Congrats to Falcons for a great season. Mike Smith coach of the year. M Turner MVP Matt Ryan Rookie of year. 1 point win by Carolina with 1 sec left cost us the Division title. Breaking the NFC South streak of last place team 1 year wins division next. Mayby for the best though we get Phoenix next week, should be able to take them.

Denver came from the Mile High City... to get stomped miles into the ground by San Diego, beating them 52-21. Damn! Same can be said for the Dallas Cowboys as they lose by 38 in Philly- the largest Eagles' beatdown against the Cowboys in history.

Well, it's time to start thinking playoffs. Feel free to make your brackets and predictions as to who'll be playing in Tampa Bay for the Lombardi Trophy... and the title of Super Bowl Champions (not "World Champions"). So with this bracket in place, what's your early Super Bowl matchup going to be?

I'm going with Dolphins v. Panthers. The NFC is scary this year.

I'm going with Ravens vs Falcons would'nt it be great to see 2 rookie Quarterbacks & Head Coaches be in the Bowl. I know that would be a First.:)

Oh Omnis good way to show support for the Dolphins. LOL

Steelers v. Dolphins is going to be a fun game.

As long as we're making fan-skewed predictions, I'm thinking Ravens-Panthers. Though honestly Panthers are sorta tied with the Giants in my book.

The sad part is there are still thousands of diehard fans that say we'll get 'em next year. Honestly I think the Lions will suck forever, I think I only once in my lifetime that they've gone to the playoffs and lost in the first round. Ford should sell them while they still can, although we do have that multi-million dollar stadium downtown that would be useless.

Steelers vs. Giants in the Super Bowl, I think.

Got to go with the sick defenses.

Agreed, aslong as Ben stays healthy (Yeah, I'm talking about yesterday's match), I think Steelers have a great shout.

Help wanted! Romeo C. (Cleveland), Rod M. (Detroit), and Eric Mangini (N.Y. Jets) are all out as head coaches today. Who all do you think could fill these positions?

Anyone. Man those guys suck.

I just want to see the Brett Favre should-I-retire-or-not saga one last time. Man, what a way to end a career, though. On an INT and an illegal forward pass; was there any other way he could have ended it?

Pro Bowl. 22 TD, 22 INT. Oh yeah. Brett Favre. Real. Comfortable. Jeans.

Damn, and I liked Eric Mangini.

(all according to: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...2bYF?slug=ap-texans-firings&prov=ap&type=lgns )

The Texans have fired three defensive coaches. Gary Kubiak fired defensive coordinator Richard Smith, defensive secondary coach Jon Hoke, and defensive line coach Jethro Franklin. The Texans were ranked 22nd in defense allowing 336+ yards per game. It used to be that we had an overpaid and underperforming offensive line. We've made countless defensive draft picks including Mario Williams.

The Texans should be able to keep their offense upbeat and intact for the 2009 season. My only hope is that they can significantly lower the amount of turnovers they get. Rather than make turnovers, FORCE turnovers on defense. Defense needs to hold better.

That's all. Hope your team does well in the playoffs.

More help wanted.

Mike Shanahan has reportedly been fired.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3800768

I know it's been 10 years, but I thought he was untouchable after those back to back Super Bowls.

The NFL is more and more about "what have you done for me lately?"

At this rate, coaches will be fired for losing in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm thinking that the Mangini and Shanahan firings may have something to do with the success that the rookie coaches around the league (Sparano, Smith and Harbaugh) had coming in.

Still though, the Broncos were plagued by injuries, and still went 8-8. The Jets went from something like 4-12 to 9-7. Should they really have been replaced?
