Best yet to come.
They have still 18 days to work on it? Are you kidding me? Sounds like you know nothing about game development![]()
It doesn't matter how good the sound engine is if the majority of cars bear no resemblance to reality.Yes, the only problem with the sound in GT5 is the lack of samples. But it has one of the best sounds engines in a racing game.
You're right, and I don't care about game development. But patches will come, right ? Isn't that considered "working" on the game ?
SMS have top rated sims under their belt like GTR2 and GTL while GT5 is PD's first title which could be considered a sim.OMG! what was EA thinking!?
any player with half a brain can see that Forza 3 and GT5 have superior physics similar to real life than Shift 2, I mean, the guy was acceleration full throttle on the curves and never understeered!!![]()
how can they say its the real racing simulator?
after this video i know its just an arcade racer
The only people showing their ignorance are a section of GT5 fans.Just watched the video... what were they thinking?
Graphics : Good aye, expected that
Sounds : Also good, expected that.
Authentic racing experience : They have been watching too many movies and not enough racing. Looks like another arcade racer with crap physics from the NFS boys.

NFS titles are produced by different teams, the Shift series is produced by SMS who have produced top rated PC sims. GT5 fans using selective footage to knock the game is what PC sim players did when trying to knock GT5.
That Dirt3 video above gets my approval. The sound is impeccable. We need audio like that.

I get what your saying. The only reason there is no realistic sim like iracing or rfactor or even the simian titles is because the publishers want the game to sell big, not because they want to appeal to sim nerds.
Yes, but EA is still the publisher.
The big mass doesn't like simulator games, EA knows that, so why should they publish a true sim which is not going to sell well, it's EA we are talking about?
Instead they publish an arcade game and tell everybody it's the best racing game to any console. Looks like Shift 2 will be focus on everything about racing except realistic pshysics.
Like you said, Shift 2 is produced by SMS, which make me confused. GTR2 is still one of my favorite racing games and I still wonder what they did with Shift 1. Because the difference between games is day and night. Everything which was great GTR2 is gone in Shift, so my conclusion is, EA is the problem.
GT5 is suffering the same problem, because PD also want to sell to the big mass.
What you have seen is a selection of videos that bare little resemblance to the game being played in Elite mode will all aids off, standard cockpit/bumper cam and driven by someone in a sim manner. You're talking to a member of iRacing, a longtime fan of both GTR2 and Rfactor, i competed in Ferrari Virtual Academy, i own and often play NetKar Pro, Richard Burns Rally, Live for Speed. I have played NFS-Shift 1 (Great graphics/sounds + arcade-semisim physics).
You cannot judge a person by the fact that he posts on a GT5 website.
Everybody can see that for realistic racing (NFS Shift 2 is touted as an authentic racing simulator) NFS Shift 2 is an embaressment, i dont care who the guys who are making it are, it doesnt matter who is making it, it doesnt change the fact that it is not a racing simulator, it is a typical NFS game.
it's not a typical NFS game, actually I don't think there's a typical NFS game anymore, it has branched out, a NFS game true to the bone will be hotpursuit, and that's a very different game.
I am not hung up with a marketing slogan, afterall we all know it is not a full sim (as in GT5 as well), I simply won't judge it with a sim's standard, for me it is an intense racing experience for short blasts. And frankly I don't see why people would insist on seeing it as a full sim, it's intent and presentation has always been about a dramatic recreation on the nitty and gritty stuff in motoracing.
I think Shift's biggest flaw is its arcadey presentation. Even if the physics are realistic, everything that wraps the physics isn't. The cars feel like they are going faster than they really are, the vision blur is annoying, the driving line and assist are annoying, the cluttered HUD makes it look like a arcade game etc.
Strange the points you bring up...
I find the cars in GT5 feel like they are going slower than they really are (it feels like I have to bring a car to a crawl to go around most corners but then it says I am doing 65 mph which is freeway speed).
Publisher and developer are two different things.
Also, assists will be on by default for the dumb masses, just like they are on by default in GT5 for the dumb masses.
Do you have any idea what you are talking about? I believe you need a history lesson from someone who has been into sim racers for many years.
EA published this game called F1 Challenge 02 which used the ISI created engine. SimBin started as a mod group who made a mod using said highly regarded engine to make a FIA GT mod. Because of the quality of their mod, they later became a professional development team and made GTR which used a customized version of said ISI engine that powered said game EA originally published.
To sum it up nicely, you wouldn't even have GTR2 if it wasn't for EA.
👍Full marks for historical correctness.
Guess you were there when GTR2002 came out eh? can't believe it's almost a decade ago.
NFS Shift 2 is a joke comparing to gt5 really. The physics wont be near as good, and the carlist is like 60 somparing to 1200 in gt5. Come on man, NFS will never be a simulator or racing sim, that is because their customers arent enthusiasts. Real enthusiats play forza and gt5, because they are the moste accurate simulators for consoles.
This is 100% right.
Out of all the sims I've played (iRacing, GTR, rFactor), GT5 took me the longest to workout my braking markers, for the simple reason, I had no idea how fast I was going. See, I was using my own experience of braking from high speeds in real life, which doesn't work at all in GT5.
