OMG GT 5 Needs this feature! Adjustable Cockpit FOV!

Proper 900 degree steering animation is more important.

I can remember several discussions regarding the cockpit view in GT 5 and the cockpit view in Forza 3. Not surprisingly everyone had their own preferences but Everyone agreed that there should be an option to change your FOV to whatever you want.

Well take a look.....

Adjusted FOV

This feature seriously needs to be added to GT 5 ASAP. With one set FOV there will always be tons of people complaining but with an adjustable FOV everyone's happy.:)

Make it happen Polyphony 👍

1. If I recall, isn't a certain button assignment on GT5P where you can use the right analog stick to look left and right?

2. Whats the point when there is the PS Eye had tracking device? And seeing as this has already been confirmed for GT5, there's your adjustable FOV.

The only reason I would want an option for an adjustable cockpit view is if we were stuck with that 'hunched over granny' position like Forza, but since GT5P cockpit view is perfect, I personally don't feel the need for different options, as the one we have now is right on the money 👍
And if you change from the default cockpit view on Forza 3, you can no longer look around the interior of the car, you can only look straight forward/left/right because it 'thinks' there are 2 other screens (multi screen) on each side which would simulate seeing 'all around' the cockpit.

note: i stoped reading after about 6 posts because something really bugged me and im not going to keep reading to see if anyone else was going to point this out.

ok id just like to point this out to the people that say in one view or the other you see more of the cockpit and one more of the road. sorry but in the wider view you see more of both. the fact that your closer to the windshield dosnt mean your seeing more of the road it just means your seeing a magnified portion of the larger picture. therefor seeing less of both cockpit and of road. all your really seeing more of is the sky because the roof of the car is no longer in the way. your actual view of the road doesn't change any in the closer FOV things are only magnified. while in the larger field of view your seeing more of the track because you are no seeing the sides as well as what is directly in front which is all you saw in the closer field of view.

now which one is closer to realife i would say the second one because i know when im driving i can always see my drivers side mirror which you cant see in the windshield cam.

I think your reading what people are saying a little too literally. What people mean is that in the 1st view because it is more zoomed in, the road surface takes up more screen, which = more road (depends on how you want to read it), not that you can actually see more of the road. No one is stupid enough to think that you can see more of the road surface.

I second this :lol::lol:

Ahh amar, you sure do love your polls :sly:

Yes please. It's like the OP says, they should give us the choice.
Don't want it? Don't use it.

Proper 900 degree steering animation is more important.
I disagree.

Head tracking doesn't make adjustable FOV pointless. You could still set up the FOV how you want to, like if you prefer it close or far from the dashboard, and then use head tracking to look around.

GT5P cockpit view + PSPeye head tracking = no need for this feature

by what logic is that?
the logic that says I can have my head slightly cocked to one side and that's good enough for me?
what if I want my centered tracking view to be out of the middle of the windshield?

I don't use cockpit AT ALL. But I'd like to be able to move the camera around (or at least have more options available to me) so I can see those cockpits they've bothered to model. As is, it's gt4 bumper cam for me, and I know I'm not the only one.

Don't think it's necessary because you're not sitting in the real car. As long you don't feel unconfortable while driving it's not necessary. Add other features to it than that.
I'd certainly like it. I find most default cockpit views more restrictive and nothing like being sat inside a car.

I'd like to have the ability to turn off the steering wheel graphics if I'm sitting in my racing cockpit. While it looks great, seeing the steering wheel and driver on screen would be too distracting for me.

I would love a cockpit like in the 2nd picture, you can see a lot more out the sides and in your mirrors.

Correct. You can see a lot more out the sides and in your mirrors like in reality.

Now that really depends on what height you are in real life. I would agree that the second view is how i see it, at 6ft2 tall, when driving wifes BMW Mini, when she drives it, at only 5ft, im sure its closer to screenshot 1.

You can adjust the height of the seat :D:D:D

In my opinion no view accurately represents what I see. The close up one shows probably best what I focus on when driving, but the further back view includes what is normally in my peripheral vision.

In the attached images i think i've shown what I mean!

Exactly!

Head tracking doesn't make adjustable FOV pointless. You could still set up the FOV how you want to, like if you prefer it close or far from the dashboard, and then use head tracking to look around.

With head tracking, you can also move UP and down, and side to side, also ZOOM in and out. So we don't need adjustable cockpits, just adjust your real seat. As long PD includes zoom in and out.

You can zoom in and out with head tracking? How does this work? So the closer you are sitting at the TV the closer you are zoomed in?

I find it kinda funny that most people are saying, "Adjustable FTW! I'd totally pick Option 2," when Option 2 is already the cockpit view in GT.

Also, I agree with those saying that head tracking largely obviates the need for a feature like this, but sure, more options are better, I suppose. :)

IMO cockpit view does need to be expanded a bit so you can see the offside corner of the bonnet, its because of this that i always use bumpercam in GT5P (i use bumpercam in 99.9% of car games TBH)
Bumper Cam is the One True View, whether you're playing GT or WipEout. (I do use chase cams for arcade games like MotorStorm though.)

In Bumper "One True View" Cam you sit in the MIDDLE of the car no matter what drive is it, you have pin-point-perfect perspective about the car movement related to the track and you actually "sit" lower than you would in actual car related to the ground.

Yeah, The Easiest View, I'll sign that anytime.

IMHO In Professional mode physics Cockpit View should be forced on. Adjustable, of course, but mandatory. I know it is somehow fascism, but when I corner with my real-world car I do not have 100% clear view on the left turns because of the A-pillar. So, if we want "more real", bumper cam is certanly not The One.

I feel chase camera is superior because of the side view. Cockpit view in GT5P is like wearing blinders in a real car. I'd use cockpit more online, but I don't want to smash someone next to me that I never saw.

Looking with the right stick is a little helpful, but it's not very easy to do mid corner with my set up. On a wheel, it's just as difficult (but I have a tiny DFP with no stand...). Motion tracking solves the issue, but it costs money. Changing your view is free (but might not be as good as chase camera).

I absolutely agree.
Online though, I would let the host decide the options (kind of like in Supercar Challenge), so the host decides weither ABS, TC, in car view, ... is forced on or off.

i like the cockpit view of gt5p i dont want to be colse to the window because in a real car you cant be that close to the window

It's amazing that some people have actually found a way to spin this into a negative :(

I hope they patch the game and remove this option.

Ever since Cockpit cam i cant race with nothing else, if i go bumper i lose perspective of my car in relation to others, aka i bump into more things, forget about chase thats just for replays.

I used to be ANTI-cockpit cam. Always had been racing FM in bumper. Then I picked up GT5p a few months ago, and forced myself to use cockpit view. Now I can't NOT use cockpit view. I love it so much. Not to mention, it looks awesome in GT5p. I love looking out my back window and seeing the backseats as well. SWEET MOTHA of GOD it looks good.

Same with me. I didn't like the cockpit view at first, now after giving it some time in GT5P i'm loving it. :)
