It is an advantage to use other views, most of the faster guys play in bumper cam because they are faster this way. Thats also the reason why you can lock the view to cockpit in a lot of PC sims.
If Bumper Cam really does offer a measurable advantage (and I think that's debatable), then why not just let everyone use it instead of preventing anyone from using it? If you're going to force less-than-ideal views, why not force Chase Cam? That's probably even worse, right? If the goal is to force everyone to use the lowest common denominator, then Chase Cam seems the way to go.
I mean, it's not like some people found an exploit that allows them to load their car with rocket fuel. Bumper Cam is just part of the game, so I'm not seeing the logic in preventing people from using it, whatever the reason.
Is the adjustable cockpit cam confirmed for Forza 3?
From what I understand, it's a bug in the multi-display function, so it's in there, but it's not a "feature" per se.
If people are going to have a "simulation" race then for me cockpit cam has to be mandatory. You don't in real life sit on the roof driving via remote control or strap yourself to the front number plate and drive by remote. So what if it makes you slower, real life racing car drivers don't sit on the roof and that's why accidents in corners happen because they don't see the driver in their blind spot. If you're racing online and as you approach the corner the driver in your mirror disappears maybe you shouldn't turn in hard and write your car off. Cockpit cam sorts the drivers from the computer game players, because in reality you don't have a 270 degree uninterupted field of view whilst driving like you do in chase cam.
Perhaps we should also erase your career and prevent you from ever playing the game again when you hit a wall at 200 MPH. After all, that's what real race cars drivers have to deal with, right?
Besides, you have a much bigger blind spot with Bumper Cam than you do with Cockpit Cam, so I'm not sure why you'd even bring that up.
Also how will ps eye head tracking work? if you look right you won't be looking at the screen so you wouldn't properly see the in game driver turning their vision properly unless you turn with your head but keep you eyes on the same spot, which would be a very strange sensation I'd imagine. It'd work if your monitor was a visor or your screen actually moved with your head along rails.
It's not 1:1. You don't turn your head 90º to look to the left. You turn it maybe 10-15º (this is usually user-adjustable), which changes the view by 90º. Similarly, turning your head 20-25º might turn the view 180º, so you can look behind you.
