I just don't see that the intention could've been to release an incomplete game and then kill us for more money after release. Had that been the case I think we 1) would have had the game in hand at least a couple years sooner than we did 2) would see less free updates and 3) would've seen paid DLC much sooner than almost a year later. You don't try to get people after the fact a year down the line, you do that a month after release tops.
I really do think that the game was released incomplete due to 1) Sony wanted the released no matter what stage it was at and 2) we wanted it released as well. If left up to PD/Kaz it still may not be released today, tomorrow, next year or even for PS3. If it was left up to them it would've been released when it was completed and who knows when that would be. If that did happen I'm not even sure it would've meant many more cars and tracks, though I'm sure it would've meant some. I think it would've meant essentially what we got, with a better standard to premium ratio at least, a couple more cars and tracks, but mainly less bugs/errors and it would've been optimized for the hardware more (which a good portion of us probably wouldn't even notice except for shorter load times).
I just find it hard to believe that PD had Spa, Kart Spaces, and the cars that were DLC even close to finished by release. If that was the case they would've started putting the DLC out in 2010 or early 2011, not in a year after the games release. Which like others have stated, means that a good portion of players would've moved onto a different game by then. In this world, especially regarding video games, a month is a long time, a year is ages. A year after purchase I forget I even own most games.
Agree with you diegorborges.
My main problem with the whole anti paid DLC thing isn't so much the argument it's the plethora of threads that come with every announcement of paid DLC. (that and the people who say PD intended to hold these things back.)
