New Fords really are fix or repair daily I tell ya hwut. 97k miles and it's been more of a PITA with some of the worst designing I've ever seen. That 30 year old beater next to it was way more realiable.

Problem is that when they start having problems, they just won't stop unless you replace almost everything inside it.

You are talking about the American idea of what the Mk2 Focus was supposed to be though, and that isn't exactly the best plausible example of a modern Ford.
