I have heard plenty of stories about PS3 getting the "YLOD".

Also, I don't see why people make a big deal out of it. It's not like they aren't fixing them for free. Now if they charged people to have their console fixed I would see why people would be angry.

Don't get my wrong. I prefer the PS over the Xbox360. But if PD should decide to develop a 360 GT5 version with an official GT5 360 wheel, I would get a 360, if GT5 is worth it. Same with the PS3. If GT5 is what I expect it to be, I'll get a PS3.

Well, there has been a lot of negative comments on the PS3. It's expensive for Sony, game developers and customers, hard to program games for it etc... .

The Xbox360 is a simple device compared with the PS and yet almost or maybe even powerful.

Like I said, it's just a feeling.

It's been mis-interpreted when devs say it is hard to program on, it's only hard from a cost point of view. Multi-platform developing is always tough, as you'll get different hardware capabilities to use.

I doubt the PS4 will ever come.. Sometimes I think this'll be the last gaming console from Sony. Things are really looking rough on them, but I heard a rumor that PS3s are now 75% cheaper to make. Now a single PS3 is supposedly worth about $240. If this is real, good for you Sony!! If it's not, keep trying.

Also,
X360 Hardware < PS3 Hardware
X360 Software > PS3 Software

That is all.

The PS4 will probably be released in 2012, just like the 6 year gap between the PS2 and the PS3.

Computers already have much better hardware than any of the consoles, so even if Sony want a 10 year lifespan with the PS3, they'll have to overlap with the PS4 or they'll get very left behind (especially because I'm sure the 360 will have a successor by that point).

There's no doubt the PS3 has more power than the 360, however; Naughty Dog once said they believe they only used 20% of the power the PS3 had for Uncharted Drakes Fortune...

Also, the install base of the PS3 is now over 21 million, the 360 is only around 30 million and Microsoft go off shipped units, not just those that have been sold. You also have to take into consideration the PS3 is a year younger and that the 360 was only a little over the PS3's number this time last year; considering the PS3's slow start, it's doing very well.

lol, PS3 is far from flop, At its price people are still buying it. Dreamcast was a flop. PS3 is about one good year in sales behind the 360.

I'm pretty sure they would have said costly if that's what it was.

If I understand you correctly, it's not possible to make the PS3 as powerfull as the current pc's. This is the same with the PS4.

If/When the PS4 comes out, it will be without a doubt be a very powerfull console. Once the PS4 is developed, it will be impossible for the PS4 to be as powerfull as future pc's. Unless it's going to be possible to upgrade the PS4 just like it's possible to upgrade pc's.

I mean, if it's going to be an option that you can install better graphics cards/memory, the PS4 will be an even better competitor for pc's but I don't see that happening.

I want it to play games, I don't need a web browser, I don't need a store to buy movies or any of the other things they have added. All I need is for it to play a game, save said game and allow me to play online as well as buy DLC.

I will go along with that! Play games and watch some blu-ray movies!👍

The PS3 needs more RAM, better software and it needs to be cheaper. If Sony find a way to sort that out, the PS4 won't need to be seen until 2014

Ken Kutaragi is no longer the designer or engineer at Sony. The next batch of engineers will think past their own ridiculous visions.

:nervous: Aren't we all going to die December 12th or 21st 2012?? Or something like that? hahaha

I'd be real surprised if a new Playstation is released before 2012. Like I said in an earlier post, the PS3 is a powerful machine and we all have lots to look forward too in the video game world in the next few years...just be patient and and feel fortunate that your able to own and enjoy a PS3. BTW I own a 1st gen. 60gb and have had no problems at all, knock on wood.

PS4 will be out 2012 or later.

Exactly the PS3 has a few more years before it's retirement , the PS1 was around for about 6-7 years before the PS2 came along then the PS2 was around for about 5 or 6 years before the PS3 launched. I dont think I am ready for a PS4 as yet . JUST MY OPINION .

I just racked out 650 for this console, the price hasnt even dropped that much. I wouldnt consider releasing a new console untill it is around 100-200AUD. I dont want it to be out for many years yet, I just managed to afford one nearly a year ago and basically no-one I know has one, it would be a silly thing to release it in the next 2 or so years.

I want the PS4 to play PS1,2,and 3 games. If so, I would sell my PS1,2, and 3 to get a good amount of money. Probably not much to buy a PS4, depends. Might not sell my PS systems.

The way I see it:
- the PlayStation3 has years left, no replacement until at least 2014
- Microsoft will move to a new hardware cycle first, which may force Sony's hand and release just after
- CELL technology is scalable...a PlayStation4 will just build on quicker CELL processors and SPE's. Maybe have more SPE's. Essentially this means costs will be lower from the outset
- PlayStation4 will be fully Backward Compatible with PlayStation3 software. The rise of digital content, paying for games storage direct to the HDD, has forced their hand, in my opinion.
- wouldn't be at all surprised if PlayStation4 did not have a GPU

There isn't a snowball's chance in hell there will be a PS4 release anytime soon!

LoL at Snowball's chance in hell... That's a good one... I've never heard it before.

Anyway....
Yeah, definitely no PS4 before 2012.

Yeah, the gap between the PS2 and the PS3 releases were 6.5 years. Fall 2006 + 6.5 years = Spring 2013.(suggestion)

It seems there is no escaping Moore's law.

I would wait 1 or 2 years after the PS4 comes out, since most chances the first ones will probably have problems.

they haven't even fully utilized the ps3 hardware yet have they? Aren't some developers still having problems with the ps3 hardware? I don't even want to hear about a ps4 for another 2-3yrs. (don't want to think about the price of it either). :ouch:

sony should make PS4 upgradeable. Current "memory" issue would have solved easily.

Is it just me, or is the whole purpose of buying a PS3/Xbox 360 to get away from that upgrading every 6 months crap with a PC?

Wat a silly thread! PS3 has been out for less than 3 yrs, and u've already made a thread about PS4 releasing in 2010. You're not going to hear about PS4 development news until Sony gains enough profit from PS3, or until 5+ yrs of its life
