I beat the game today. Took me 3 days in total, and 21 hours in-game.
Since I use the team I want, not the team that is best, I used Sceptile, Latias (favourite Pokemon ever), Pinsir, Wailord, Delcatty and Pikachu. Yes, Pikachu. The Cosplay one which you can't evolve. Instead, I found a Light Ball (there's one you can pick up but I missed it and hunted for one on wild Pikas instead) and turned it into the most glass of cannons.

I also went and caught a good share of the legendaries afterwards. Of course, the one I failed on was Deoxys, where I forgot how frail it was as I proceeded to destroy it with M-Ray's Dragon Ascent...and looking at it, it seems Smogon is right.

^Did the same thing. I actually Dragon Danced and tore it in two. Whoops. Still got it later tho, so not a total loss.

im currently going through the seventh gym with 25 hours gameplay, my current team is
Sceptile, Masquerain, Dedenne (Shiny), Metang (event),Torkoal and Shuppet.

For me it's Blaziken, Metagross and Alteria.

Linoone is HM slave 1 and pickup, Gyarados, soon to be replaced, HM slave 2 and my most important Pokemon of all. Shiftry with False Swipe, Sword Dance, Thief and Leaf Blade.

I have 6 badges and have 22 hours 21 minutes on the clock.

Holy crap, you can catch Deoxys WITHOUT a special event?

Yes. After the Delta mission only. If you faint it, beat the E4 again and then you can rebattle it. I'm not sure where though.

Right now my team is Marshtomp, Metang, Shroomish, Mightyena, Swellow and Electrode. Mightyena is gonna get swapped out for something else at some point, as is Electrode most likely. Just about to challenge the 3rd gym and hopefully get back to the same level that the rest of the game plays at instead of my weakest pokemon being 5 levels higher than all my opponents (I left the exp share on for waaaaay too long).

My team is stupid good. Right now it's Sceptile, Delphox, Metagross, Latias and Greninja. I don't have a set 6th yet because the two main moves (Surf and Fly) are covered by Greninja and Latias with the Eon Flute (which negates the need for Fly period). I have rotated out a 6th for awhile so eventually I will settle on one.

I'm not sure where though.
It's back at Sky Pillar, I understand.

I ended up too high after 4 gyms and turned it off then (I was still using only 3 Pokemon of course). They'd passed me by the 6th gym.
I recommend it. Makes it rather more challenging. Which is what you want. Though with all my team at L50 the E4 was fine. Just about.

I've determined that the best way to get good dexnav results is to chain the effects like pokeradar did in D/P/Pt, B/W, B2/W2 and X/Y. It's the only way to get Egg Moves and good IVs on the DexNav only Pokemon.

I haven't seen anyone mention this anywhere but the goal is to buy lots of Max Repels to pull off the chain. Getting a DexNav only Pokemon into the 20s for search results will massively improve your odds of getting egg moves, IVs, hidden abilities, rare held items and (I believe this will also occur) greater likelihood of a shiny.

I had an all Water team (my favourite type). In Alpha Sapphire with; Kyogre, Pelipper, Tentacreul, Swampert, Ludicolo and Azumarill. I don't rotate my teams though I did have a Zizagoon once but that was just for its Pickup ability before I gave it to my brother who loves Zizagoons :p.

I've been playing to much Alpha Sapphire my Omega Ruby team is still just Ralts and Treecko (which I really need to get it to its last stage because I don't like Treecko and Grovyle :indiff:).

The Exp. Share feels more broken in this game than it does in X/Y. I'm not running it in Omega Ruby so I'll see if its harder, if I do go back and play it :p.

Ugh... thank you @Blitz24. I really wish I could get the game before the end of January but it happens.
If you're to late, I'll happily give you me Shiny Beldum. I never liked the Metagross family to begin with and throaway Shinies IMO just downgrade them in the level of worth.

I completed the Pokedex so i could get the shiny charm. And so far caught Shiny Ho-Oh and Shiny Reshiram. Ho-oh only took 30-40 SR's and Reshiram took around the same. Now going after Heatran.

I got a Shiny via no reset. The second one I ran into ever (first one was a Wooper in Platinum in the Great Marsh but it ran away). Wild Gloom on route 119 while just moseying around. I better try to train it as it's nature isn't bad either.

I've only ran into one Shiny in 11 years of playing Pokemon games.

Also, I bought Alpha Sapphire today. I'll try to do a Nuzlocke run with this without resorting to the Exp Share.

I've caught 3 shiny Audinos, a shiny Dunsparce, a shiny Alomomola, a shiny Minccino, a shiny Relicanth and a shiny Tangela, and I've received a shiny Ninetales, a shiny Charmander, a shiny Eevee, another shiny Relicanth, a shiny Froakie, a shiny Buneary and a shiny Poochyena on Wonder Trade, and I've also received a shiny Kadabra (now an Alakazam) and a shiny Mienfoo in regular trades.

And I've also seen a shiny Paras, a shiny Seaking and a shiny Basculin, but I didn't catch them for various reasons.

Oh, and a shiny Bibarel.

I don't like trying to get shinies by force (SRs, Masuda, Chain Fishing etc.). I did it once but I wasn't excited or happy that I got one.

I got 3 shinies out of pure luck; Golem, Ursaring and Swampert

I've already lost one Pokemon on my Nuzlocke run: Groot the Treecko. He got Tail Whipped and then Tackled and it was too much.

...and it stands to reason that Butterfree will eventually get one too, then! Might be a Gen apart or something though, like Gardevoir/Gallade.

Cue "next games will be FireRed/LeafGreen remakes" theories.

Predicting the next step for Pokemon is surprisingly challenging right now, despite the fact that Gen VI had been super-easy to predict up to this point. You've got Red and Blue which are about due for an update, since the last time we played them was during the same generation as the original Ruby & Sapphire. But then you've got Diamond/Pearl which are chronologically the next games that should be remade... a fact that's compounded by the *slightly* more recent HeartGold/SoulSilver containing the Kanto region in addition to Johto. All that equates to a whopping THREE regions seemingly in need of a revisit, due to the fact that the last time we've been to either Kanto, Johto or Sinnoh was Gen IV. And on top of all that, will the next games even be remakes? We just got remakes in the form of ORAS... surely they're not gonna immediately follow that up with even more remakes? Maybe we'll get a Pokemon Z... Or perhaps they'll just move on and create a wholly new game?

If I had to place a bet on one of them though, I honestly would go with a return to Kanto. The game(s) are obviously going to be coming out around the end of this year... just in time for the series' 20th anniversary at the beginning of next year. A return to the original region would be a suitable celebration, and the 20th anniversary could help excuse not only releasing more remakes after ORAS, but also releasing remakes of games that have already been remade previously. And interviews regarding why the older Pokemon games haven't seen Virtual Console releases & why we haven't seen Pokemon Z seem to support the idea of more remakes being in the works. I think Diamond/Pearl remakes will probably wait until the 3DS's successor comes out, though.

Now time for some wishful thinking on my part... Game Freak's done Johto twice. They've done Kanto a whopping three times. They know these regions like the back of their hands. So perhaps... we'll also be returning to Johto simultaneously. This could be done like Gold/Silver but backwards in the sense that you start off in Kanto then go to Johto afterwards, or perhaps they'll do something totally nuts like releasing a version where you start in Kanto and a version where you start in Johto, being able to go to the opposite region after becoming the champion.

I could be way off the mark with all this, of course... this is all if I hypothetically had to place a bet on what's next for Pokemon. I don't have nearly the same level of confidence that I had with Gen VI... it was obvious that after BW2 they were gonna make the jump to the 3DS, it was obvious that the jump would necessitate a change to 3D, and it was obvious that Ruby/Sapphire remakes were in the pipeline. As of right now though, nothing feels immediately obvious for what's next.

I actually expect the 3rd game be X2/Y2 but it tells a trilogy story.

Not gonna lie my favorite has always been Silver/Gold so I will buy every remake of those games right away

I think it will be Z and then a new generation game. Remakes to be first Gen as Fire Red/Leaf Green can't be played on a 3DS. All the others can.

I think I should back up my trilogy theory (this is what I posted on another site):

First, Zygarde. Does it seem odd that his stat total like Kyurem is lower than the other 2 legendary trio members? and like Kyurem has 2 moves that can't be accessed yet. I believe the next game will be X2/Y2 with Zygarde as the main legendary and I believe his new forms are Mega Evolutions. His stat total is 600 and if he is like Kyurem whos new forms are 700 then Zygarde would have hs stat total increased by 100 and like other Mega Evolved Pokemon, Mega Evolution would do just that (Mega Zygarde X and Mega Zygarde Y) but I feel like, Zygardes 2 moves are what makes it mega evolved, like Rayquaza. The reason why you can't do it by hackers might be because its Mega Evolution is not in the code and only X2/Y2 players can do this. Either that or there will be Mega Stones and the moves were added like Kyogres Origin Pulse.

Lastly, Looker and the Ghost Girl, in both X/Y and OR/AS you run into a Ghost Girl and Looker. Ghost Girl seems to be searching for "The One" but who is this "One". Is "The One" the playable character in X2/Y2 and if so, why is he/she so important? Is there a new threat or is Team Flare bigger than we imagined? As for Looker he assists you in stopping Xerosic in X/Y but in OR/AS he has amnesia and appeared to be washed up in the beach. What happened to him, if there is an X2/Y2 would "what happened to Looker" be revealed. Maybe a mysterious villain is pulling the strings and only Looker knows who it is but he has amnesia so he can't remember.

The whole Gen seems based on the Mega Evolution, while we find more about it, I don't think we have all the questions answered. I'm thinking Zygarde is the real key to finding out mega evolution.

Currently hunting for a shiny Zangoose but I've had no dice yet...although I found a 3 star potential Zanny so I'm happy with that as a consolation prize for now. :D

No I haven't bought the game yet so I was wondering how long it was going because i won't get the game until next month but I will keep you updated.
