Possible bug on IB License, Test #1

I'm not sure if there's a general thread on where you can talk about the license tests, i can't find any. So here I go.

Yesterday i was trying to acquire the IB License. There was one annoying thing though, on Test #1, the 0-400m stop on a wet road with the Nissan GT-R. I noticed that as I start braking to make the car stop, the acceleration bar suddenly "punches" out a little, about 7-10%. I wasn't holding the gas button down, just the brake button. Of course, this doesn't help with slowing down the GT-R as fast as you can.

I did some tests, on one go i got the car to speed and let go of the gas, no brakes. One second later, again the gas punched a little, 7-10%. I wasn't pressing any button on the controller, and yet the throttle was punching out. So I tried doing the same thing on the other tests. on IB-2 with the Audi R8, I got it to speed, then let go of the gas. Flat. No readings on the acceleration or brake meter. No punch.

I've got gold on all the IB License tests, except IB-1. I can't even get it to silver, let alone gold, because of this "bug". Has anyone else encountered this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using a DS3 controler pump the brakes, make sure to stay just below the last line on the brake gauge. It takes a bit of practice to slightly press the button. My brake is the square button.

For your 10% accel. problem, maybe your remote is broken? Do you use R2 as accelerator button?

I think PD has somehow changed the amount of grip on the wet with respect to what it used to be. I golded all licenses a long time ago and I remember this one was really easy, but when I tried to re-do these tests in another sub-account one month ago I found I could not even silver this damn stupid test. IMO PD needs to re-adjust the times for this test as the braking point proposed in the replay is far from being correct now.
hope that helps,
cheers mate

I can't even get silver on this! I've stopped as close to the line as is possible and i'm still achieving bronze! The car is so unstable under breaking.

I had problems with it to but you have to have some luck because it's about breaking in the right meter or else you fail. I tried with the handbrake and the usual brake and stopped sideways very close to gold. Perhaps because the rearwheel stopped at the same line as the frontwheels just inside the stoppingarea that could be the way to do it.
Good luck!

Similar story here. This is one test I cannot Gold. I got Silver over a year ago and recently went back to try to get Gold. And cannot. The best I can do now is Bronze.

There is a weird accelerator glitch with that car. There's a little bit of throttle even if your at a standstill.

I golded this licence, but it was tough. I did it without abs because it isn't allowed in the options.

but afterwards I learnt you can actually turn on abs using the RA functions. This will make it a lot easier to gold. Took me a million tries without abs but I managed it.

The best I could get before I watched the video was 14.916 and I put hours and hours into trying to beat it lol. So cheated with that video, feel much better now.

But hat off to you for doing the licence without abs and doing it properly. :)

For those still trying without abs, i thought id add how i got gold. Did this test so many times i have it memorized.

The braking point is at 1/4 length down of the second last lane marker. (if i remember right)
The braking point is also at the 10.250 second mark. Hit brakes after the clock hits 10.
Brakes at 50 to 75%. never more than that.

For some reason, the cars braking is much more predictable when you DONT drive on the lane markers. My wife actually figured this out. (gotta give credit where its due) She started taking a line, about a cars width away from the lane markers. To the left or right. braking there is more consistent. Explaination for this has to be varying moisture levels on the road.

Good luck

a glitch... interesting...

I knew it. Locking the brakes won't help you at all.

will do when I get back to GT5 again.

dang, I'm starting to get a feel again on how this forum works. Hopefully I still know how to quote tags. Been a long time since I've been here LOL

ABS is turned off in this challenge, thus the wheels lock up and the car idles but at a higher RPM (like when you park with the handbrake off but the foot brake on).
How did you not notice the ABS was off? Don't go 100% on the brakes, and they wont lock up.

Done a few days ago for a friend after about 20 tries. Main thing is not to brake full but just a little under that. At about 90% or so. Do not press brake fully at any time. And the car will stop like a rock (compared to stopping with 100% brakes). As far as acceleration goes, starting in 2nd is a good option, but I did it with starting in 1st. Just don't start with full throttle :).

I golded this yesterday (before the 2.04 update, though). I found this guide.

Also, despite the fact that ABS is turned off, you can get very smooth braking by changing the brake balance to very low values, e.g., 2/2 or 0/0 seem to work well, even at 100% braking.

I have the same accelerator problem with my DFGT, except that it happens everywhere in every car. I hope this gets patched by PD soon.

I dont think they have ever touched the licences since the day GT5 was released, have they?

That might be a problem with your wheel.
The only car ive seen this happen to is that gt-r

Dont drive 4wds much so i dont really know if this is a gt-r feature or just a bug on 1 car.

None of my other cars have this problem.

Can't help you gold this one, maybe the advice/links from others will help.

I might be able to explain the throttle blip. Are you using Manual Transmission or Auto Transmission? If Auto, the car may be blipping the throttle as it downshifts. If Manual, the throttle may be blipped for you as you downshift. The Audi R8 might not have an "auto-blipper". I might be completely wrong, but that would be my guess as to what is happening.

No, they probably haven't touched the times required... but they might have touched the physics of the overall game a bit...
Anyway, thank you guys for the tips... they've worked like a charm and I got gold again on this one. I drove along the left side and braked gradually... done!
thanks

It's not a bug, the GT-R is an automatic and therefore idles. This is just this effect I think.

This licence is bugged now, especially since ABS is disabled (I did licences on 2 other accounts with this beeing 3rd and on all occasions ABS was always allowed).
Had some troubles with it, ABS 0, 100% wet track and comfort medium tires aren't exactly a good combination.
Also, as for GT-R having throttle on idle - it's GT5's way of replicating automatic transmission some cars are using, it's not a bug (GT-R '07, GT-R SpecV, GT-R Black Edition, SLS AMG, Evo X just to name a few).

I managed a time of 14.950 last night, so got silver but after numerous attempts I had to turn it off. Was ready for throwing the DS3 through a window!

The value of GTPlanet shines through. Was struggling on IB-1 and not even getting silver on DS3 or wheel but after sacrificing a couple of minor principals I got gold within 6 or 7 tries of reading this whole thread.

Tips - I always use cockpit, but switched to chase cam for this for better visibility and ghost comparison, but don't be reactive to the ghost, that never works.

Method - Use 1st gear full throttle, change up at 35ish, 39 is the limit of 1st gear so don't hit that.

Through the gears up to around 105, but braking point is more important than the speed here i believe.

Someone said the lines are slippier, which is realistic but not something I noticed on this test. I did drive up the left half of the runway just in case though.

The penultimate centre line was my braking point and did a hard right a touch before that point to get sideways and gently slide just into the stopping area by millimetres to post a 14.884.

I didn't notice a whole lot of difference between 100% braking just under down to about 50% as you are locked up going sideways anyway but enough people point it out to be worth doing less than 100%. I had around 70-80% for most of my braking phase and finished on 100%.

Optional - Feel good about beating the test without resorting to taking advantage of the environment like in the linked video earlier.

Good job. 👍

Here's link to a thread about GT5 licence time competing , in case you're interested.

I've been working my way though the licenses, just completed the ia's and the only one I got stuck on was this one, in the end I did it by putting the car slideways. Can't believe its possible any other way.

Glad to see it wasn't just my problem!
