Oh yeah, I totally want a top tier wheel. Fanatec or Thrustmaster, sure. But coming from a DFGT to G27, and liking the feel, and finding the Thrustmaster 300 with the add on fancy pedals really odd feeling, and again, price, I went the safe route. All those wheel buttons are fine. Makes things easy too.

I like the changes. A few aggressive drivers aside, I noticed an overall increase in etiquette.👍

If it curbs some aggression, it should suit us lot in here very nicely. The penalties need toning down a notch though as there's a real fear of them, which isn't so good for close racing.

I like them too, apart from when my rating gets hammered by people driving into me! As you say, etiquette does appear to have improved - my DR went up overall, despite the fall in my SR.

I made up a few places in most races by passing people on the final lap as they tried to get rid of penalties :)

The new penalty system has a major impact on your SR. I ran a couple of good races at Alsace yesterday, with some good drivers, then had a mare of a race with some dirty drivers!

I got rammed three times, and my SR went down from S (99 points) to A (69 points) in that one race...

Then had a couple of nice clean races again, and my rating went back up to 73 points - so nearly back to S again. I'll see what today's races bring.

Interesting. So it's harder to get SR S - exactly what the GTP community wanted :).

You're developing some enormous peer pressure - to my knowing I'm the last shmo on sticks now :dunce:.

I think PD have used a sledgehammer to clean up each rank from the top down as the times I got hit from higher ranked drivers was getting ridiculous. Yes, they're faster than me but that doesn't mean they can be an arse to get by. Now they really have to play it safe, and if they don't, they can race with the lower SR's until they learn how to.

Maybe in a week or so, some people will find they're in SR groups they think is too low and some will find they their racing has improved dramatically because they're in a more conscientious group ( justified SRS) with much more predictable drivers.

I think people put way too much stock on rankings though. I've had some brilliantly fair races in DRC and B (unplanned incidents aside) and horrible races with higher ranks as the races are so short, they try far too hard to progress. Weirdly, they're often the most unpredictable as they'll go for silly gaps that they know won't be there when they get there and to hell with the consequences.

Rankings should be a rough indicator of the driver for the race you see them in but they can't put stock on them actually belonging there overall. Too many see it as a set in stone label of skill and because some may have previously been higher, they automatically think they're better. They're often in for a rude awakening... Like your bad race knocking you back. I know you're an SRS but the people in SRA you'll have to do a race with won't. I don't look down on anyone below SRS as things happen in racing that's out of our control.

In this thread, we'll all end up as SRS as that's where we belong (DR is different obviously) but we'll still drop a group if we get tangled up in trouble. We're SRS in all but name due to how we drive

I think I'm preaching again... I'll stop now.:lol:

I posted a long read in the thread about this topic. Hope it will be read well, since I notice people do not always read long posts. And it gets undersnowed. I was curious about your opinion in that regard Kilesa but I think you already proved we totally agree.

I was still half way through replying to bad_brain but then thought better of it. With no video examples from him, I don't see the point in replying saying the same things again and again...not that that has ever stopped me but enough's enough.:D

Then this thread distracted me from it. So busy!:lol:

We do agree mate. Totally.👍👍

I'm going to try and make it but I'm not sure how long I'll last if I do. Had to fetch my daughter from work in -4 weather and trashed my breathing.:rolleyes:

(I was too miserly to pay for a taxi. I hate hindsight.)

Bad internet connection, just like last weekend. While I was lucky to get into the room last time after 10 tries or so, it wouldn't let me in now. Damn, so my beautiful baby blue BMW remains unrecognized :grumpy: ...

Just as the 1st race countdown reached 0, my son turned up with the whole family.

A good turn out again and Daduce turned up too.:(

I couldn't get into the room either - had good internet connection, and could access the Daily races, just not @nordschleife51 room. I kept getting 'Network Disconnected' message, but it obviously wasn't...... :irked:

I was straight in but I've got good net to the states. Can't believe I missed out on it.

Family for sale. Price? A thank you will suffice.:lol:

Sorry you guys missed out due to connection issues. Room was 5 bars green on this side of the pond. Something happening between here and there.

If someone else would like to host to see if connection issues are resolved, happy to step aside. :cheers:

It was a great day of racing today, sorry you couldn’t make it.

Never been a problem before, must have been something to do with the cross-Atlantic connection! Trump hasn't imposed a tariff on it has he? :lol:

Won't be able to test it next week, as it's Mother's Day, so will be otherwise engaged!

Yesterday's been celebration day :cheers: ...
Had a day off for one more "dental drama date", so I started in the morning qualifying for Suzuka and Mt. P. ( great to see times pop in one by one on the friends ranking ). Though I did quite good on both tracks, I wasn't in the mood at all for Bathurst stress and limited myself to a couple of Suzuka runs. For the first three races I had a guy on P1 who was 2 / 1000 quicker in Q :boggled: and races went as you would expect : even matches, no big mistakes, no overtaking.
Admit I got nervous when starting from pole then ... but I kept things together and was awarded that Schumi trophy finally ( me bloody cheater sandbagger something ) :D.
Nice dinner for one then and a bottle of wine :dunce: ( though I hardly could chew ).

@oldphart
"Dude!" ? Is that a good thing :lol: ?

@kilesa4568
Hope you enjoy starting a new aera !

@coryclifford
How is it going ? Everything gold already ?

Brilliant job on your 57 there. Proud of ya!:cheers:

I did a few hundred miles with it yesterday (campaign) and today I'm noticing muscles I haven't felt ache in a looong time. Working as intended there then and great rehab. I tweaked a neck muscle (not too bad) when I tried to catch a big slide though. Arms flailing like a madman.:scared:

At the end, I was a few tenths off my DS4 times so it was encouraging but I've got a long, long way to go for consistency. I was exhausted though so I'm going to blame that! I'm still mashing the throttle (à la DS4) and writing cheques my steering can't cash.:lol:

I couldn't believe how good the feedback was but I was recognising the signs of trouble a little bit too late. Easy to catch with a DS4, sweat and short breath inducing with the wheel.:crazy:

Here's something funny...for some... I came home with the wheel about 11am grinning like a Cheshire cat. Started taking it out of the box and then realised, I gave my son the table I put StirlingMoose's wheel on to my son... Tried a deckchair with wood over the arms, couldn't get my stupidly long legs to the pedal. Then the ironing board, same result as it was too low. Ok. Off to the shop to buy a folding table. Got back and found the only way I could drive was in a Quasimodo position. Cramp in 5 minutes so I took the table back, didn't have enough cash for the bigger table so I bought an adjustable laptop stand instead. Had to turn it the opposite way round to be able to have the pedals far enough away but I eventually found a suitable position. Started driving, braking into a sharp turn, I pushed the pedals away from me and couldn't reach them properly. Went back to the shop to buy a rug (I've got laminate flooring) for the pedals to grip, pushed the rug away. Two sided tape ruffled the rug on braking (and left glue on the floor...) so the only way it's working now is to tuck a corner of the rug under the sofa to grip it. Great, I can brake! Oh, hang on, now the rug is pivoting on its single anchor point so I end up driving crooked. Beggars can't be choosers so I'll live with it. Then tried messing with the torque on the wheel as there was very little effort to turn it, changed it to 4 and every time I turned, the whole of the stand went with it. Hit pause, readjust, unpause, table turns, hit pause, readjust... ARGH!!! OK. Torque on 1 and try to steer gently.

Long story short. I need to get a proper stand.:lol:

LOL!

Playseat Challenge if you've got the space (and cash!) - wouldn't be without mine.

Got to save for a while but the Playseat Challenge is definitely the goal. It looks really comfy and suitable for 2 meter people.
Surprisingly comfy, and sturdier than it looks.
Trying to earn brownie points with the missus to try and hurry it up. Told her I loved her this morning and how nice her hair looked
That should work ;) Missus friendly this Playseat, as it folds away!

I try to command a playseat last yeat and end up paying like 60% of the seat prize more just for shipping it to morocco and i got it broken a the end so i handmade mine with a old table ..work fine until i got a new wheel and discover that i builted in a way that suit only the thrusmaster wheels.....i got a g29 since chrismas and still inbox :irked:
I think i ll have to built another one
