Hi folks

The Gold time is pretty easy to achieve, as said in the news where they announce the free X2010 and the challenge, as it's like a 5.000.000 Cr prize to be added to the car.

For me, I hate the car, my brain can't "learn" to drive this car, brrr...

But easy 5millions, I couldn't let that pass. A sighting lap in 1m33s, "well, almost a silver by 0,5s", a bunch of laps disallowed because I "cut" some corner at the SSS, simply because the car fooled me, turning too much :D, a Spoon "cutted" by the same reason...
Then a pretty bad lap with a time of 1m25.5 (the lap I "cutted" Spoon, stopped, returned to the track and made 1m24)... Then made a lap 1m21 flat and said, that's enough :D, got my 5 millions and exited.

But I strongly dislike this kind of driving, looks like a purely arcade type of driving, using a controller makes even more difficult, although at this moment the best time was established using a DS3...

Am I the only person who cant get this stupid car around the track cleanly?

No. The car is a handful. If you are using the DS3 controller, try not turning all the way. The car is really darty from apex to corner exit. I wish they would allow us to change tuning settings for this challenge. A properly tuned LSD makes this car much easier to drive fast.

You should have done the Mercedes one that was on recently.

I know I was well gutted but recently getting a job after uni, I hardly played GT although im going to pay a bit more attention to whats happening with regards to events :P!

You would have stopped me getting the 2nd place in UK if you did the event so I got lucky in the end ;). They extended the event too, was fun to go round the track the right way around in the end :sly:. I actually attended the actual real life event as guest so the event was extra special for me to want to compete in the online one.

Update is coming out tomorrow and on the PS blog they mentioned new events coming in October so look forward to them. Hopefully there are events set by real life drivers, it makes it more fun.

Haha I would have tried but 2nd in the UK must have been a very nice time so would have been hard :)! Bet the event was nice to attend someone who I race with was racing there said it was really good :)! Will be interesting to see what is happening with this new spec but im up at 5am and back home at 9pm tomorrow lol so don't think i'll see it.

But new events with equal settings I love brings out the fun of competing i find :)!

I doubt I would have been hard to beat, the leaderboards were not very competitive compared to say a serious event like GT Academy. http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/products/gt5/event/d33501.html

My brother got picked who I entered a minute after entering myself, was gutted I didn't get picked instead as I could have had a good chance of winning and my brother does not even play the game so he was learning how to play for the first properly on the pods. Legard said for me to swap and pretend I'm him .

I met GTNurd, he either had the wrong settings on his car or talking crap about doing 1:09's on Comfort Softs with the SLS online in practice mode the night before the event.

DLC will be coming out soon too so that might be announced tomorrow so something else to look forward to.

I like the equal car thing too so you know it is only speed you have to find within yourself and not the car setup.

Great fun this event. But now I do wish I had got used to using the stick function on the DS3, using X and Y and directional buttons I nearly killed myself getting a 1:07.5 (which places me a lovely 3500th)

I just knew I could get down to about 1:06 or 1:05.5, but I was soon going to need a new DS3 pad as it got thrown around a bit. You know, doing well and then, oh bum, red time or spin :dunce:

Enough, I call it a day 👍

Done a 1.04.6, I got in a rhythm and was doing consistent fast laps with almost no errors but once I stopped to save the replay I couldn't even start a lap without invalidating it.

Got my time down to 1:04.729 now even though I'm losing so much in sector 1 with the DS3. I've found that I have to chuck the car into the corners rather than take it smoothly or I just end up going too wide.

Hi Guys any Tips on what driving options?

EG Traction control at number ???

ABS at Number ???

I'm not the best driver, I'm all about speed and no class at all when it comes to driving this car..

I'm using just a PS3 controller and I'm driving Automatic.

Any help and tips will be great ;-)

Traction control doesn't matter too much unless you get a wheel on the grass, I'd probably say set it to 1 if you find yourself getting a bit wide on some corners. ABS doesn't matter with this car as it's near impossible to lock up anyway, people are setting good laps with it set to 0, 1 and anything up to 10.

If you keep getting a red timer and you're only going for the credits then just take the lap slowly as you should get used to the car enough to beat the target time.

Ran a couple of stints at this one, managing a pretty decent time (1'03.465 P3), loosing just 1.5 tenths at the double left spoon, the settings I used were amateur steering, feedback 10, no AS.

My goal is a lower 1'03, fixing up the spoon corner should do the trick.

Dan are you using a G27 for this?

With the force feedback at 10 do you find that after 15-20 laps the deadzone seems to get wider (or the force feedback gets weaker for the first 20 degrees of steering input)?

Settings I used for the Vettel Challenge was the same except used professional steering. Might have a play around with the amateur steering tonight to see if that makes a difference..

I like how competition can change peoples stances. You only wrote this a week ago.

My G27 wheel will have no chance at breaking as my days of driving ultra fast, unrealistic cars in GT are well and truly over!

Good to see you competing. By the way did you receive a message on PSN from me?

It will be interesting to see how G27 users find the update tomorrow and also if the physics change affects this event.

1:17 something, I think it's pretty good for a DS3 and the fact I only ran 2 laps to get it.. (first one was disqualified )

Got gold on my first attempt with DS3. Best opportunity to earn easy money so far. :)

Tried to silver the Vettel Challenge yesterday. i got 1:05.791 on the 1st lap @ Suzuka. i'll try the Red Bull Seasonal tomorrow morning and try to aim for that again. :sly:

I got 1:14 on this one. I can go for 1:12 easily, but I just didn't feel like it. So bored on that day.

yay for first post! now that I have done away with my GTP cherry it is down to business... 1:08.155 for me... and I am struggling to beat that, need to mess with the tuning I reckon, I know you are all prob sick of hearing this but... Any ideas? *ducks*

Did we just all waste 5 Million credits, having done this prior to Spec 2.0?

I didn't do it yet, as I still have 19 mil cr in the bank. Will spend some on Spec 2.0 cars, if any , and then ramasse the 5 mil after in less than 2 minutes time, including the loading screen.

Before you do this, make sure you are on the 200% bonus first, just in case. I just did one of the old time trials on my alt, and I got $1M. Was logged in already today, prior to Spec 2.0, so didn't get the 200% bonus notice. Went to my main, where I first logged in after Spec 2.0 and got the 200% bonus notice, did the same time trial, and got $2M! If that bonus equally applies to the X2010 seasonal, you should be able to get $10M for it!

Edit: It's confirmed. Seen first reports of people getting $10M.

Hi mate thanks so much for your reply, your tips and your advice I shall give it a go.

You've been most helpful..

Sorry for the newbie question ...

I've gotten the time for silver and bronze and not gold yet. Is this a gold-or-nothing event? Even when I have a time good enough for a silver trophy it never registers it and I just go on to the next lap. I quit after doing five laps. Am I missing something?

It should register as soon as you quit your current practice session, given the servers are up and you're online. You should then equally receive your payouts. If you didn't get gold, you should still get the payouts for silver and bronze (what's your multiplier at?), and yes, payouts are only given once! And don't I wish I wouldn't have done this challenge yet!
