I have yet another question, as regards multiplayer. Can you earn whatever it's called (XP basically) that allows you to unlock more stuff and level up in normal free roaming gameplay? I don't mean like just killing other human players, but for example can you all go on a hunt together and get XP for it?

I haven't even started multiplayer yet but I think thats correct.

Love the game. I haven't done many missions yet because I love roaming the country side shooting animals. My only gripe is the horse controls - still trying to control the horse like I'm walking on foot.

You actually get more xp for doing so. If you work together and take down a bandits hideout you gain more xp than if you were to just shoot other players. I really don't like multiplayer in this just as I didn't like it in GTA:IV though. The single player writing and voice overs are just awesome though:tup: I have seen a good bit of silly glitches like objects floating, npc's floating across the ground instead of walking, my characters hat disappearing and re-appearing at will, and more that I can't recall. There was one where a guy was trying to walk and he was stuck on a small hill and just kept walking and walking and it was making the loudest crunching noise ever, it was louder than the train that was coming through!

Ending Spoiler
Sad ending, but what the hell? I don't wanna keep playing as the kid, I wanted to be John for the free roamy stuff. I know I could just revert to a save but I'm not the kind to go back. The kid looks like such a dork with the 'tache and such, they should have just scrapped trying to make him look like John.

It's his voice that kills it for me. Intersting concept though, and you do feel some connecton with the character as you effectively trained him to hunt etc. He was also telling John about a book he read where a son takes revenge for his fathers death. I remember feeling like I was actually placed in Jack's shoes, with a personal vested interest when looking for Edgar Ross. They should have at least given us the option to switch back to John's character model though, without having to replay the missions.

Woohoo! I just made it to mexico! I have been doing all the main and side missions as I go instead of doing just the main and then having to go back and do all of the side missions. I am about 11 hours in now, this is going to be allot of game play to complete everything!

Well I was not able to rent this game anywhere Friday or Saturday. Soooooooo I traded in a few games and picked up RDR for $10.00. Gamestop had the 30% trade in bonus for used games and I took advantage of that. I ended up playing for 13 hours straight. Spent 6 hours in the campaign and 7 hours in the multiplayer / free roam. This game is MUCH more fun than I ever expected. I spent most of my time just hunting all the random animals in the game.

A quick heads up for everyone, the story really ends when you hit the credits, it's easy to think you've finished before you actually have. I know because I thought I was done and then I spotted something on my map and found out there's just a little more of the tale to be told.

I ventured into the multiplayer last night and found it a bit crazy. I was under the impression that people would be walking around in free roam trying to arrange missions to level up (kind of like a proper MMORPG). All I seemed to get was fools shooting eachother upon spawning. Much like GTA, I think this is going to be a game where I'm going to have to arrange for a party of friends to get together to play the multiplayer.

So if anybody fancies a private game for some roaming and levelling up, please add me.

Yes its similar to GTA4 free roam multiplayer but you can posee up in this and I highly suggest doing that. After a while I get people together and set up a private room to do the co-op matches together against the AI.

This. I find the multiplayer very annoying, very. I was trying to level up so I went off to a gang hideout and was trying to take it down when some douche that was a much higher level than me came along and kept killing me and every time I would spawn he would just shoot me again, it was pissing me off so bad. I didn't even have time to shoot him and if I could it would do no good because his gun would kill me in two shots:ouch: I don't know if you can pick a different spawn point because I haven't played the multi long enough to find out, but if not then I will not be playing multi at all with this game because of the ultimate spawn rape that I had to go through before I got made enough and just backed out and went back to single player. This has happened all 3 times I have went into multi so thats a very bad taste left in my mouth with it so far.

Thats why I avoid the multiplayer and avoided the multiplayer in GTA4. Just play free roam with friends and leave it private. You go into public then you are only setting yourself up for frustration. I figured most people would have learned that from GTA4.

Yes thats what happen to me the last time I was trying to do a GTA Race, some prick was just spamming the spawn points with RPG fire, not even racing. it was frustrating and FAR from fun.

I played GTA4 online for maybe 15 minutes and didn't like the fact that you see everyone on the radar all the time, so I never played it again so I had no idea about any of it. It would be allot better if there was a "hardcore" type mode free roam. People complain about MW2's spawn system, good lord it has RDR beat by a long shot.

Thats why I avoid all those multiplayers. Just play the multiplayer free roam. Its very very fun especially if you get a group of friends together. You can do anything you want together. Even if you just want to shoot animals you can do that too. I went bear hunting for quite a few hours and had a blast.

Well, I definitely want to get involved in the multiplayer so please feel free to add me for some private game goodness.

Oh also for those that dont know. The challenges you complete in the campaign are different than the ones you do for multiplayer / free roam. So if you kill 5 rabbits for the campaign challenge, you also have to kill 5 rabbits for the online challenge. Or collect 5 plants.. Things like that. It adds a lot of replay value thats for sure and is very fun with friends completing these challenges. Its sorta like the challenges in COD.

Hmm, I might consider buying Gran Theft Horse, especially since Commando Pro Noobtube Akimbo Camper Warfare 2 seems to have stopped working.

A week ago I had NO interrest in this game AT ALL. The western looking genre just did not appeal to me and I only planned to rent it. Then after hearing the positive feedback from friends and the community, I decided to go for it on Saturday. Traded in a few games and bought it for $10.00. I am just shocked how fun this game is especially in free roam with friends. I ended up playing for 13 hours straight! Its impossible to understand until you actually play and experience this game. The wildlife and AI is so dynamic and so random. I cant think of any other game that has random dynamic AI and wildlife like this. You can just sit out in the woods and it constantly changes every couple minutes.

One minute a wolf is attacking a woman. Another minute its raining, then all of a sudden there will be a random shootout, then another minute you are saving a captured man from a group of thugs, another time a bear is eating you for dinner, next a rattlesnake is trying to bite you, then you are trying to shoot the coyotes off of the deer you just shot. Its so random and so fun and I am so glad I gave this game a change!

Nothing compares to dragging an outlaw hundreds of yards with your lasso for trying to steal your horse. Also emptying a revolver into someone's head after they trash talk on how they are going to put you in the ground in a duel is a feeling of great satisfaction.

Aside from how incredibly dynamic RDR is the atmosphere is stunning. The sunsets/sunrise is done very very well. You can't help but to sometimes just stop the horse and admire the view. The only thing i would change is making night time much darker when there is no full moon. I feel that it would make the game more immersive and realistic.

After playing this great game i can only wonder what's next for the Red Dead series or what Rockstar has planned for "the Agent".

I guess it's gonna be like how every GTA has been forever, rather than actually finishing the story and completing objectives, you just run around idling and doing whatever you want. Hell, I got GTA4 in August, and I haven't done the first mission yet, it's al ben just idling around and going online.

For me I'm just addicted to hunting, even though I have no specific hunts to do online at least I love just tracking an animal and using expert mode so you know you're not safe at all from predators. There's something incredibly satisfying about trying to track a cougar or something and popping it before it has a chance to attack, and there's alot of immersion to be found if you take it seriously as you know you're never safe in the wild west. I have primarily made myself into a hunter, for that reason if anybody's looking to complete their hunting challenges and wants to get the most challenge and fun out of them, drop me a message some time 👍.

So I was wandering through Mexico and I got a lady asking me to come over for a kiss, four dead banditos later I hog tied her up for attempted her entrapment (I was expecting it) and was figuring what I should do with her. Usually I leave people who have done me wrong in the desert where wolves hang around but this time I wanted to do something new, so (I read anyone do this yet) I dumped her in the river, it seems she couldn't breath underwater afterall. :p

Its not like that for me at all. In RDR the story is so good that I have yet to stray off and just run about killing etc. like I did in GTA series. Well, I can't say I haven't strayed a bit, but in GTA I barely did any missions because I just couldn't get into them so I ended up just killing and stealing.

I did that the second day I was playing it, when they sink to the bottom blood pools out:dopey: When I did it I was at a little house out in the swamp next to thieves landing. It was a man and woman in the house so I tied them both up and made him watch me kick her in the water, then I cut him loose and made him think he was getting his life and then a few steps into freedom I pulled out my knife and carved him up. Hmmm......I hope If I were to ever get arrested for a violent crime that I didn't commit they wouldn't stumble across this post:lol:
