I had to knife 2 cougars like I need to now I was being dragged off my horse by them every 10 minutes, now I can't find a single one.....

I had that too, the second cougar took forever to find, and now they're back to jumping be every two seconds again.

BTW, I found the most beavers around the Pacific Union R.R. Camp and anywhere up to and bearclaw camp. GL.

I finished the last three stranger tasks as Jack, and it seems they've had his voice actor record all the lines for them. They even adjust diaglogue I think, as the california stranger talks about being there for weeks, then pauses, looks at Jack and comments it might be actually be generations.

Yeah, I had the glider guy say to me "Oh, it's you, the years have treated you well". Nice touch.

Though I would like to mention again how much I hate the result of the ending. Might be touching for a movie but in a game which is most often played well beyond the story, it's dissapointing IMO.

I found a glitch this morning in the game that is almost the same thing that I had found in GTA:IV with the swing set! I will record it tonight when my wife gets home and post it here for you guys, its good for a few laughs. Anyone like skydiving :)

I finally made it to Mexico last night.

I have been just messing around doing side missions, hunting and so on. I am actually going to concentrate on the story some now.....or at-least try to....

Easier said then done, I always had to tell myself every 5 minutes that I should do some story, and then didn't . It's so easy to get lost in the old west just doing so many things.

I got my daughter to just hold my phone while I did it, so didn't have to wait till the wife got home. Here you guys go, just go to the ranch where I am and go to cover at the corner and then go in and out of cover until it launches you.

Most of these "glitches" are seeming more and more like easter eggs. Flying people is still my favorite.

Isnt that the truth

This morning I tried doing some of the story, was doing a good job of it, and then I ran into a pack of wolves. Next thing I know that pack, led to another, and another, then cougars, coyotes and who knows what all else. I only got side tracked for about an hour doing this, when I stopped to just kill the wolves that were attacking someone.:crazy: I get side tracked WAY to easily in this game.

I agree, I don't believe the things like donkey woman and flying people are glitches. The video I made and posted is a glitch though. When he moves out of cover there is another cover object there (the side of the building) and your character basically gets stuck between the two and the barrier throws him up, same glitch that GTA;IV had because its the same game engine.

I was doing the 5 birds from a moving train and spent half an hour on the roof of the train from Armadillo watching the scenery go by, as it did its circuit from the US to Mexico and back to Armadillo. I have done the first Mexico mission.

Bah, been trying to kill those 2 cougars now for hours, all I ever get are bears and wolves by the dozen.

Not sure if i just went through a glitch or not, but by Bearclaw Ranch i was bombarded by Grizzlies. There were at least 6 of them charging at me like i stole something. It was a sight to behold!

Just did my first "hogtied person on the train tracks" thing, was bloody awesome. Although you would think there would be a bounty after doing that.

I'm still waiting for my game from GameFly. If I don't get it by Friday, I'll cancel my service and just buy this game. Looks fantastic, thanks to the hunting and it seems like there's tons to keep me busy. Hopefully it'll replace MW2, which has turned into the biggest POS of all time, thanks to noob tube spammers, mêlée runners and cheaters.

Before I play, I'd like to know what general starting tips I should employ. So far, I know to do the following:

1. Play all the Bonnie story missions until you earn the lasso.
2. Go to Armadillo/Amarillo and play 'Five Finger Fillet' until you earn enough money to get a horse deed, good repeater, hunting rifle, decent pistol and a few extras. This should take about two hours.
3. Hunt and accumulate as much as you can, then head for Mexico to sell it all.
4. Buy all maps.

Then play the game missions, and what not. Sound about right?

I had RDR in my gameQ for months before it came out and I took all of the games out that were released out of my Q before this came back and sent in both games I had. So, when they got those games back they had nothing to send out because everything in my Q wasn't released yet, so I got it the day after it came out:tup: I got it and skate 3 the day after they were released actually. As far as tips go, I can't really give you any because with this type of game all I could say is play it however you want because its really open.

Before I play, I'd like to know what general starting tips I should employ. So far, I know to do the following:

1. Play all the Bonnie story missions until you earn the lasso until you can't do any more as they introduce to alot of mechanics without much risk or difficulty.
2. Go to Armadillo/Amarillo and play 'Five Finger Fillet' until you earn enough money to get a horse deed, good repeater, hunting rifle, decent pistol and a few extras. This should take about two hours.

As regards number 2, you don't need anymore then you start with for a large proportion of the game that you won't pick up anyway and a horse deed is wasted cash (you get a top tier horse pretty early, just don't lose it and if you do you can always find another). Spend your money on some items like the bandolier for double ammo capacity, but you likely won't need more then a bit of hunting to afford such goods which you'll be doing anyway.

As regards 3, I actually pretty much stopped hunting when I hit Mexico period, I was getting enough money and ammo from missions and I had no need to spend, infact other then my Buffalo rifle I can't think of anything I purchased from a store after I made it there. Though you may be able to make more money selling Mexico, you should have enough to get by if you shoot plenty of stuff early on regardless of where you sell it. If anything you need the money earlier rather then later when you hit Mexico. If you're in Mexico sell there, if you haven't made it there don't hesitate to sell your stuff anyway. I don't even know if you get more money in Mexico, because I didn't need to make more money then I did in missions by then so I never noticed.

Basically, hunt early as and when you can, just to get a bit of money in your account for smaller purchases, but you don't need to purchase any weaponry for the majority of the game you are given what you need when you need it. So instead of grinding your way trying to make extra money, just don't buy weapons and ammo unless you really need it, I was playing on expert and I never needed to buy any weapon at all. If you really like the look of something by all means go for it with bounties and other fun stuff, but I have £3000+ and over £3000s worth of gold (treasure) I could sell at the end of the story as I sit. It's not because you get a stack of money towards the end, I had £1000+ sitting doing nothing for a large part of the game.

It's not a particularly difficult game for the most part, even without Auto Aim on, you don't need any special tips really even the ones I've not crossed out aren't a big deal. Take a little time to familiarise yourself with the horses and work out how exactly they work (don't just mash sprint then wait for it to fill up to max again, pace the horse well and use stamina steadily, then bring it back up steadily rather then just wait by tapping X a little as it recovers). You don't need money for the most part so just save it up from what you kill as you travel and buy the things you like the look of, maps are nice to have though.

I know how to get a game quickly from GameFly, but missed the opportunity. I had to finish GOW 3, and I never thought to get this game. It was a total surprise. I never played Red Dead Revolver, and never read updates about this game. Too bad, because it could have been a lot of fun suggesting firearms and features since I'm a serious hunter and former SASS member.

As far as the game is concerned, I guess you're saying there's no advantage to playing it a certain way. However, I like the plan I have formulated for myself. I was told starting off with a large cash supply really makes things easier. I don't mind playing FFF in the beginning if it'll help me out.

After searching all over the net, I found the solution to getting the Mo Van Barr bounty to show up right in order to get your Deadly Assassin Outfit.
Not sure if this is spoiler worthy or not but just to be safe, I'll be as vague as possible.
Read this once you start the first mission in Armadillo
In this mission, you and the sheriff go after a guy. The sheriff will ask you to capture or kill the criminal, kill the guy and Mo Van Barr poster will show up in Armadillo.
The first time I play, I let him live and Mo will not show up no matter how many bounty I do
This one, do not read unless you finished the story
Who else beside me started another save because you hate Jack so much. I like John more, he's more badass. Jack sound like he's the extra from Brokeback Mountain?

OK, you're the second person to say you don't need that much money. I might do it anyway, since I need to play FFF for a achievement.

What I don't get is the deed. What I read was the deed will allow you to whistle for your horse, even if it was dead, and a new one will show up. True? So a deed is bad, or a 'convenience' that's not necessary?

Oh, and what are bandannas, rabbit's foot and all that other stuff good for?

The deed is very much worth the money. When your horse died and you are stranded in the middle of nowhere, no wild horse in sight, it will come in handy. Basically, the deed will give you unlimited horses.
Bandanas will make you anonymous, your fame will not go up or down if you do good/bad things (though Honor will).
Rabbit's foot give you luck, more money when you loot.

Bandanna is useful when committing a crime - equip the bandanna, do the dastardly deed, unequip bandanna to drop your wanted rating quicker. Rabbit's foot makes it harder for enemies to hit you or something.

Even if your horse has died you can still whistle for it, and a new one (of that same breed) will show up, no deed necessary - all the horse deeds do is change your horse to one of the type whose deed you used. If you're currently using the pre-order exclusive War Horse but wanted to change to the El Senor donkey, you activate the El Senor deed and your War Horse wanders off (presumably to be carted off to the Western equivalent of the freezing works); then if you whistle for your horse an El Senor mule will show up.

Basically the deeds are only needed if you want to change the type of horse/donkey that shows up when you whistle.

Ah, thanks. What about the other stuff? I couldn't find what they do online. I guess it's not that important to know, since I'll get the game and know soon enough. But, if you don't mind...

You have to be more specific, there's ton of stuff in this game. But to be honest, some of it will contain spoiler so it's best that you experience it yourself 👍
plus when you browse the inventory, they have very specific info about every item (just press triangle).

I barely spent any money while playing through the story - I think I bought maybe two guns and that was it (aside from having to spend money on houses to save my game, but you can save using the campsite in your inventory anyway), so if you're worried about needing ways to make money, Solid, don't. You hardly need to spend a buck while doing the story. :)

@ breakpoint: I tried the glitch you found, nice one. I find that when I hitch my horse right there, it only take 1 cover, get out before I was launched in the air.

You don't need to do all this stuff, it all comes pretty quick (money for horse etc). You can't access much of the good firearms at the start anyway the default is more than enough and you will get some better ones without paying for them fairly soon.

Also you can't just go to Mexico until you have got that far into the story as far as I know, which takes awhile.

What I really mean is there is no reason to start a strategy like this unless you want to either rush through the game or run around like a madman from the get go.

Oh and I don't even buy horses, I just catch my own and 'break them in'.

I made getting a Horse Deed for the Stallion Bonnie gives you something of a priority because the game has a tendency to "lose" your horse and supply you with an inferior alternative. This has happened to me on a number of occasions. If you have a Warhorse the situation is not quite so bad as, by all accounts, the Warhorse is the equal of Bonnie's Stallion.

Get enough Honour and the Horse Deed for the Stallion (Kentucky Saddler) reduces by 50%, which was when I had to buy it due to the game losing it for me.

Buying the Horse Deed and some Rooms and the Improved Campsite (ammo supply) are about all I have needed to buy as I pick up enough ammo and weapons from bodies. I quickly decided the "rent-a-room" is a big rip-off (pay $5 to rent room, do save and room is up for rent again) as your campsite does the same thing, plus the fast travel (for which you need the maps apparently).

Gentlemen. A great way to make quick money is to cheat at poker. Assuming you've purchased the elegant suit. Easy as pie to make loads of money. just don't get caught :) oh and if you do, there's a bonus of practicing up on ypur dueling skills.

I for one am pretty ready for online mode. I think i'll give it a whirl tonight to get some rank :) Feel free to add to hunt some animals. :) Human or otherwise :)

I swear this game is set up to not let me move forward. After I completed the "kill 5 birds from a moving train" I decided I would do the next mission, however right after I set the waypoint a bunch of animals appeared and I went on a little hunting spree. After that I had to help a sheriff return a safe that had been stolen.

Be aware that when you're in normal free roam in public servers you almost certainly need normal or preferably casual auto-aim. There's no way to limit others using casual and you just get destroyed by them as it is. Keep your weapon drawn, fill up on dead-eye somewhere and if you get shot target them, hit dead eye and spray them down in an instant. I try to be peaceful but alot of people won't play ball, I previously used to holster my weapon as a sign of peace but twice tonight I've been downed when I did that. However, both times I then proceeded to kill those 2 players 20+ times each over and over to teach them a lesson in why you don't mess around with a level 41 when you're not even past level 4. I also messaged both after the massacre stating why I punished them so hard and one saw the light, the other didn't reply.

Tip: Always keep your weapon out and be ready when around unknowns, have your camera on them always until they've earnt your trust, even with a full meter and a good weapon you still won't be guaranteed survival.

I tried to get a feel for the community and so far my experiences are 50/50 between complete hostile and relatively friendly (better then expected actually with GTA as an example of a much more hostile fanbase). For that reason if you're off on a hunt or some other challenge with friends, best to go private so you can have expert on for the most fun and challenge. The world is so gorgeous and there's enough to keep just 2 guys occupied unless you're the kind of gamer who just wants to kill and maim alot. That said it's very nice when you do meet a guy who's willing to co-operate and punishing players who act like morons is satisfying, shotgun justice is always good.
