whom does the reputation description concern? who gets to read them? im assuming its a moderator tool, but do you guys actually bother reading them?

If you mean the Red Tick of Doom, then yes, If you get +rep, you'll be able to see what others have said about that particular post. And anyone can give reputation points. Hope that helps. :)

1* The Rep function can be used by anybody, not only moderators.
2* I think the persons who get to read if you've gotten some rep points are you and the staff.
3* People who is concerned about their posting style, usually check their posts to see if they've gotten any rep points. Sometimes the people who give you rep points, will let you know about it.

BTW, there was a big thread about this.

Ciao!

yeah that does mattthetuner.. how do i read my reputation notes?

edit: thanks for the link padrino. for that you get some rep! :)

wait a second.. i clicked the tick in my post and it says "this post has not yet gained any reputation" how do i view that information?

edit #3 i think i found it.. thanks for the help guys.

OK, when someone gives you rep points, they have the option of leaving a comment to that post. I usually do everytime, but a lot of people don't.

If you get the message "this post has not yet gained any reputation", then obviously nobody had given you any rep for THAT post. You used to check how many rep you had in total by clicking the red tick on your own posts but Jordan took it out because too many people were getting hyped about getting a Quality Posts badge.

Read further on the thread and you'll find out what I'm talking about ;)

EDIT: Ohh ok you got it, good. 👍

That is the information - that post has not received any reputation ratings. If a post has been given reputation then any comments left will be displayed there.

i understand that now, however reverting back to my original question.. care to answer? im still in the dark..

also...is there any way for me to read all my comments on one page without having to search for repped posts?

You can't read all of yours in a single place. Moderators can read all of a single user's received reputation - and who left it and when - in a single place.

yesterday i gave +rep to someone without typing a comment

is there any way to find out how many rep points you have? and maybe a link to that post?

No and no.

Rep points only matter if they're over the QP threshold or not. If they're over, you have a green badge, if they aren't you don't. That's it.

We do monitor people with negative reputation points though.

Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more!

/I kid, though :sly:

So, what happens when you earn enough rep points to receive a green badge? Does it just appear, or does a mod send you a PM to let you know?

It just appears when you have enough - no notification.

It's a shame that the system had to be tweaked to not let us know the amount of our points but I understand that it was the right decision in the situation back then when the points were becoming more important than the actual posting. Oh well, as Silverzone said, the badge (and thus the knowledge about the amount of the points) isn't needed to be a good member. :)
