Might have missed you guys. The Missus called me to dinner... I see a room with the name, but no one is there.

Now this is the kind of track mod I am looking for! I'm sure this is probably old news, but these guys listed their mods for free in the video description. I'm all over this. 💡

Most mods are free.
If you want high quality tracks, I'd check out Virtua LM.

Thanks, I definitely will.

Edit: And if any of you guys would like to do some races with this mod I'll definitely be down once I get a few laps with these cars under my belt. I've done quite a lot of F1 racing in other games.

Hey guys, I have tried just about everything I can think of, and I am literally 5 seconds off of pole position pace with this kind of lap. I am very consistent with this too - 1:39.5 is right around where I end up at Shanghai nearly every lap.

I'm looking for some helpful criticism here because I'm about at my wit's end trying to improve on my time. I will always keep practicing, but I've just hit a rut now for a while on this circuit. I have studied as many onboard laps as I can find, and pole position pace is generally in the 1:34:4xx range. How can I possibly be 5 seconds off?

I understand that they had TC for a number of years, and if KERS or DRS is available in rFactor I also don't know how to map it to my wheel, so maybe it's possible that I'm losing this time due to not having those at my disposal. In any case, I would appreciate any help that the experienced F1 sim-drivers here may be able to offer.

If anyone ever wants to do some practicing or clean racing, give me a shout as well. 👍

Sounds like a V12 engine car from around 2005, there would be no KERS or DRS available for that car.

What pole position time are you comparing to?
Yes it does sound like a V10, but the body looks like 2011?
As for your lines .. They are great, i think you could brake later aswell on some corners.

You should compare to 2010 times, no DRS or KERS

@ Bye Ya, you almost never use kerbs so you are not using the full racing line. This can make a huge difference on lap times, this and setup.
Anyway what mod is that?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. It's the FormulaSim Racing mod, which includes all of the tracks and everything. I was comparing the Vettel 2011 pole time, and I could have sworn that the pole time for the FSR 2011 and 2012 races was also in the 1:34 range.

I still have a problem dealing with the deadzone in the G27, which is why I'm scared to really go wide on the corners. Sometimes I'll put a tire all the way off by accident.

If anybody wants to use the mod, here is a link.

FSR Mod

I would highly recommend installing the mod in a fresh rF install. It comes with everything you'll need, and you get every track from 2010, 2011, and up to the current 2012. It has an auto updater so you can get the new tracks when they put them out.

Hi everyone :D
I got rfactor yesterday and played it for 11 hours xD I use the oversteer mod at the moment, which tracks should i download for drifting?

Also, i want to drive some rallys. Are there any good tracks/ cars i should try?

Shomaru Pass (too narrow for drifting, in my opinion anyway) and Akagi Mountain (pretty good for drifting) are two great touge tracks but for some reason the cars go seriously crazy if you touch the Armco, so be warned... This is quite a nice hillclimb, this is a tarmac rally stage... rFactor Central's 'temporary circuits' category is full of good stuff you might like.

As for drifting circuits, there's:
Tsukuba
Ebisu D1GP
Ebisu School (the actual circuit included here doesn't work for me so use the above link for that I suppose?)
And although it's not really drifting, you may like Gunsai Touge.

Cars you should have... Oh, rFactor Central seems to have lost all the cars it had. Weird. They still have the awesome AE86 Club mod, these aren't strictly speaking rally or drift cars but they can be tuned to be good drifters (which should come as no surprise!).

You do have to have an account for rFC but it's really worth it. Hopefully their lack of cars is only temporary, but they used to have Group B Rallycross, a Historic Rally Cars mod (not sure what it was actually called) which featured a wide selection of stuff, even going as far as to include Pikes Peak unlimited class cars like Rod Millen's Toyota Tacoma and the Suzuki Escudo. Oh and there's a Mini Z-Cars mod, which is basically motorbike engined RWD Minis which are excellent for hill climbs.

Hope that helps!

My little BTB project is progressing well, GTR4U member renntom made an awesome 3D model of the Hotel which is on top of the real Petersberg, I'm so thankful for this! :dopey:

Here's a little screenshot, still tooooooons of work to do:

Oh, it's upsetting to see the word 'megaupload' under so many of those... I think I found this page the other day as well actually, I can't remember how or why. Oh yeah, I was looking for the Shift GT and Shift Street mods (definitely get the Street mod if you want a KPGC10 Skyline), which are pretty decent too actually.

If you search that page for '(HRC)' you'll find the rally car mod I meant, it's probably all you'll need as far as rally cars go.

I have the Shift Street mod and i think it is pretty good. I enjoy driving the BMW 1M that i added to it. Streetcar Challenge is not too bad either. I like it because there are two trucks on the mod that i like, the GMC Cyclone and the ML63 AMG.

DOH! i just read my post and please note the BMW 1M i downloaded it and added it to the Shift Street mod. The way i posted sounds like i converted it and added it to the mod. sorry

I have personally modded SCC and some of my parts have been added to the final version. Here is my personally modded RS2:

Oh that is awesome! would you be willing to share? :D

I wish the 2006 to 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 was on the SCC mod. I own a 2008 and i wish that i could drive it in rFactor.

I have a car pack that is an addon to the entire mod, which contains my BMW 750iL, Merc E500, Impala SS, Impreza WRX and Legacy from Rally World, RS2 and S65. Some are incomplete but all are very easy to mod yourself. PM me if you want a link since I can't post them publicly.

Hey guys, if you'd care to offer any more advice about my slow times at Shanghai, I would greatly appreciate it. I've been practicing quite a lot since the last video, probably over 150 laps at China in the past few days, mostly trying to get rFactor's tuning system down, but I feel like I've hit a wall here because I have watched a whole lot of 1:34:xxx videos and I just can't see what I'm doing so wrong as to still be 3.5 seconds off of that pace.

Sure, their laps are a bit cleaner, but 3.5 seconds off of the pace is just hard for me to believe. If you all think my braking points are still too early, take a look at the setup in the beginning of the video, because I cannot possibly brake later without locking up the brakes, and I've been trying to brake through the corners carrying more speed, whereas before I was braking before the corners. I realize I didn't get the most out of the last two corners, but certainly not 3.5 seconds off.

Appreciate any help. The lap starts at 1:26 in the video.

Are you comparing to a year when they were using DRS and KERS?
That's EASILY 3 or 4 seconds right there.

@neema_t: thanks rfactorcentral is really cool, akagi os perfect for drifting.
I also found nice cars and a huge amount of tracks at bockbierbude.de, which is a german website, but there's also an english version so don't worry ;)

No, I'm comparing my time to this guy's. He's using the same mod, and set a 1:34:423. I just want to get at least within a second of his time. I think my issue is with my setup somehow, as he seems to get more power down, but I've tried shorter gears and I actually slowed down by doing that, and I can't really add any more downforce because my top speed is already as low as I can go really. That's why I posted the setup at the beginning, if anyone thinks something can be adjusted to improve my time.
