I posted this in a separate thread but I figured I'd add it here as well in case people just go straight to this one:

Quick question guys. So I have my 42" plasma set up as my extended desktop to play games on and what I normally do like for example with Dirt 3 is open the game in a window and then drag it over to the plasma and then hit Alt-Enter to make it full screen. With both rFactor and Race '07 in the options I can only set it to windowed or not and it won't switch between modes in game. So if I open the game full screen I'm stuck on my computer monitor, and if I do window I am stuck with the bar on top (and it doesn't fit perfect since I set the resolution to 1280x720 to match the TV if there wasn't a window bar at the top.

Is there any way in game to switch or does anyone know a way to force it to open to my extended desktop, or am I gonna have to do a clone desktop and deal with the crap that comes with that (my icons getting all jumbled, I hate that), plus its nice to be able to check my email on my pc screen while the game is paused.

Do you have an NVIDIA card? When fiddling around I think I saw something that might help you in the NVIDIA control panel. Can't remember what it was.
There's probably a way to default the game to open on your TV instead of the monitor.

My card is an ATi, but I will look through the settings maybe there is a way there.

Edit: no luck

use control panel to make your other tv your "main display", then launch in fullscreen. you'd probably have to change it back manually after exiting rfactor

Yeah thats what I was trying to avoid, but it looks like the only way to get it to work. Thanks!

How many people still running rFactor? Thinking of getting it myself but just wondered what sort of community support it's got given 2 is out.

Find a good league or go in sites like race2play there is still plenty of people racing online, because rFactor have no end. Graphics, mods, physics can always improve. I guess in 2015 there will still be people running rFactor 1, after 10 years from release. Basically rF is a dev tool, and then you can add whatever you want.

Enduracers kind of did it to themselves for hyping it up so much on Facebook of all places! It still sucks as nobody is making any profit from any of it, but I'm sure the scumbag lawyers had figured out a way to spoil things up once more!
Specially with the AutomaniaX thieves coming out with something like it.

Porsche recently stole code and ideas from sim developers, including ISI acting unethically. This because they partnered with a company (I forgot the name) to come up with their own game. This is why they are doing this to Enduracers.

Whatever Porsche releases I will stay the hell away from.

Porsche is not Automaniax, so they never stole any code.

The guys from Automaniax worked together with Slightly Mad Studios and had access to assets from their engine (which is used for pCARS). They used these assets to create a trailer, but in the end Automaniax is running on ISI's gMotor 2 engine (rFactor) with some old Cup mod.

Still, Porsche just lost a lot of respect here....

This is just pathetic, what could possibly be reason for targeting a small group making a mod they aren't even profiting from? Simply unfathomable, I have no respect for Porsche after this BS.

Easy, they are taking business away from the guys who are paying for the license. They afterall need to protect their own value. Car games are now viewed by manufacturers as a business and even as a marketing tool, they want to be represented on their own terms and under their own rules.
I agree that it sucks because this guys are putting hours upon hours of work into this projects and they do it for free so everyone can enjoy it. To have this corporate monsters come in and step on them is just shamefull!

It's not the first time legality has prevented a mod from being released, unfortunately. The anticipation certainly didn't help, though, had the mod been released without fanfare I doubt this would have happened... Maybe they'll keep their heads down next time.

Porsche, at the end of the day, are running a business and by allowing free mods to use their name the value of their exclusive license would plummet because no one would want to pay if modders can just undercut the games that include them, so I can understand why they did it.

Jav

The individuals who would buy NFS games are not in the same market as those who would buy rF 1 & 2. If anything SIM developers, such as Enduracers, promote the products in their content. Porsche are being greedy jerks about this issue, simply indefensible.

Technically all mods are illegal because you are using brand/names and images that are copyrighted, that's why exist's licensing.

Oh I'm very well aware of that, but unfourtunately Porsche isn't. And I agree they are greedy bastards but like Neema said, they are a business protecting their value.

Thing is, there's so many thats been made over the years. Other then the A1GP case (which was strange since the series ceased to exist before when that happened), why now is it suddenly important to protect their property?

Thank God none of the great mods have caught the eye of the blood sucking lawyers!
I think I might have a way to get the mod, so if anyone needs it shoot me a PM!

I just think it is extremely narrow minded, typical of today's pathetically greedy management...imbeciles.

Case and point, a few years back Disney's "agents" forced a school to paint over a wall where the kinder garden kids had drawn Mikey Mouse. If anything, they should encourage children to draw Disney characters, promoting their imagination and "brand", resulting in life long loyalty. But that's too deep a concept for the current generation of managers, bean counters and lawyers.

Yes, I have no patience for this sort of thing :|

What do you preserve when there is no money involved? Enduracers don't make money stealing Porsche! Their awesome dedication to details is more like free advertising for Porsche in this case... It's not like someone want to portray the brand badly... all the countrary! so apart greed and really out of place severity, I think their attitude is really detrimental to their image which is a shame really...

Anyone here run rFactor on a laptop? My PC is breaking, and I am looking at laptops; mainly because they are a huge help for college work etc, but was wondering if anyone knows a really good laptop and yet isn't too expensive.
Cheers
