Guess I blew it as far as qualifying goes so since I'll be around to race and if there is room start me in the back and I'm good w/ that, if not I'll catch ya all in two weeks. Next week is Littles go-kart race.

You still have two hours to quali. Up buddy. Up to you.

Btw guys, the race time's been moved thirty minutes earlier to 3:30pm PDT / 22:30 GMT / 6:30pm EDT

apparently all that talk of connection issues and lag made my cable modem decide to pee itself.
Wondered what happened, at least you got a quali in first though.

Nvm I cant make it, I guess another week of not racing
Sorry to hear that, hopefully see you next week then.👍

My internet's picking the worst time to start acting stupid.

EDIT: Yeah, just put me on the waiting list.

Don't worry to much guys, qualifying won't determine this race one bit. ;)

I should be getting in around 6:10-20, just FYI.

TnJF qualified, I will make a separate post with his time and details shortly, I missed his T2 so I have to watch the replay.

TnJF - 2:36.709

All four in the sand on exit of Mulsanne chicane, cut before rumble at same spot. No time gained, I assume 5 second penalty though.
Had another unfortunate 2 deep in the sand at the finish, cost at least a full second. If he'd nailed his lap outside those two chicanes, we'd probably have a different pole driver.

Sorry for the delay, lap was done around 9 PM.

Only 5 cars racing to night?
Or are there drivers joining without quali?

I just updated it, there's 7 so far. There's still a few names I'm expecting to drop in so we'll see. Wiifreak's already told me he's gonna have to miss this one.

I don't think I will make 6.30am(GMT+8) Wardez...That means I will have to be up by 6am and that is unlikely.:(

Besides Im far off the pace anyway, have fun then.

BrosifDuder also came to a practice room once, not sure if he's racing or not, I had to leave for a bit and only Welsh was left that night.
So at the very least we might have 8.
Shame about Wiifreak and Red though.

We had Nepalli join us for some practice last night, in a 571HP limited ZR1, added to the enjoyment. Also a random guy in a Nissan GTR, actually did pretty well keeping up for a while too.

Remember when GT5 was so popular we had to decide if 15 or 14 people was optimum for lag?

btw... If anyone wants to join me and Gene Kelley

Then everyone and their mother decided to make a series and oversaturate the forum.

CHANGE OF PLANS

Yeah so we're gonna push the start to our usual start time of 7pm EDT. And we're only running an hour long.

Sorry guys I couldn't make it today I had to work and just got back and I'm beat so I guess it's two weeks from today and I'll see ya all in Japan.

We're taking a week break next Sunday so there'll be no racing. We're picking it back up for a revised rally over on a new version of Spada I made after some good quick feedback from the few guys who ran it with me.

Anyway, race was pretty fun. More of a tour for me since I was alone but I always enjoy running in Le Mans with the time change. I had it just right at 20x time progression for the hour race. Started mid day, ended mid day.

This race was a lesson in fuel conservation xD

Chorda, Nige, and Sifer all ran out of gas on the very last leg of the race. I went from 7th to 5th.

I might be doing this race again, but as a big spot race. This would be probably after the Spec 2.0 update hits so keep it tuned here if you're lurking around to see the announcement in the near future.

Thanks to every one who showed up! We had a decent enough turn out for the standard distance race, here's a quick summary of the results:

1. Nepalii
2. chorda
3. GTP_CSL
4. TnJF
5. Wardez
6. GTP-Sifer
7. GTP_Welsh-Bain

My first podium in a series, so I can't really walk away to bummed.

I knew on lap 1 I'd already blown a fair shot at winning, being 7th of 8 after Mulsanne, I knew I'd get separated, and I did. :(
I kept the leaders in my range for quite some time, but eventually the extra rubber saved from drafting made the leaders get to far out to reach, drove in fourth from 7-14 comfortably, then spun over a bump exiting the esses, smacked the wall and had to pit.
Surely I would finish 7th now, I thought, but to my excitement, neither Wardez nor TnJF showed on my map, didn't have a clue where they were until the finish, but Welsh ran out, and Sifer ran out far to soon, and I scooted past them both easily, now knowing chorda also ran out, really makes me :banghead: I shoulda coulda woulda had second.:(

But,
My first podium in a series, so I can't really walk away to bummed.:)

Sort summary..
About the last few laps..

When I had 2 laps to go, I ran about 1,9 seconds behind welsh, and since I pitted on lap 8, and he on lap 7, I was hopping for my rubber to do the work over the last lap.
And I did gain a tenth or 2 in the "twisty" parts, but I was not able to keep it together on the straights, and in the chicanes, so the gap was pretty much constant.
In the beginning of lap 15, I had a good first sector, and was now 1,7 sec behind.. Still no draft for me..

I knew that I was close enough to reach welshs slip if I just kept one corner together at this point.. But before the second chicane, I noticed that he was out of fuel.

Initially, I was "happy", cause I could now get the win, but then I looked at my own fule guage... And it was still white, but I knew that I was really on the limit, after/in indianapolis the fuel was markes red.., and when in porsches, my fule ran out. NEPALII was around 3 seconds behind, so I knew instantly I was screwed.

I think it would've been an awesome battle between me and welsh if we had enough fuel for the whole race.. But none of us did..

I don't want to take anything away from NEPALII, cause he did an awesome race. And since he did not set up the car properly due to late entry, his tires was really worn, but he stil kept up amazingly good with such a bad setup. Well done! 👍

All in all, a really fun race.. But the finish could've been epic for me and welsh.. Sadly, we will never know..

lol Chorda, for sure it was gonna be close!

Kicking myself a little, but "c'est la vie" :)

With the late change to the scheduled race from 2.4 hrs to 1 hr, all I thought was "ok, tyres can't do 15 (13 at a push), so may as well split the pit stop in half" (never gave fuel a consideration at this point as I knew tyres ran out before fuel :) ). The first half was just about surviving in the lead draft group, which I decided to stay out of trouble with most of the time as there was far too much going on. This probably conserved my fuel a bit too. I decided I'd pit at the end of 7, in a bid to push for 1 flying lap to break the group up front and try to go it alone. This worked to a degree, but Nepal followed me into the pits as Chorda continued on. My pit crew recommended 0L of fuel so I never gave it a second thought (they're all fired now BTW :D). As I didn't take fuel, I was able to get out of the pits approx' 1.8s ahead of Nepal (I believe he took about 11L) and pushed hard on the out lap, hoping to clear Chorda in the pits with a margin to spare also. I reduced the lead from 31s, to about 28.5s on the fresh rubber and passed chorda comfortably as he started to exit the pits, a few seconds back of Nepal I guess.

I pushed to maintain my slender 2s'ish advantage which I knew was safe from the draft, but around lap 10, I checked my fuel gauge and thought, "hmmm, this might be close". Got to lap 13 pretty much thinking this wouldn't make it, but decided WTF, Win or Last!! :dunce: (I was also hoping for rain too, but unfortunately, that started just after the chequered flag was waved :D) Then I notice Chorda had caught Nepal and in no time, the small lead that I'd built up to approx' 3.5s (great pace by Nepal), suddenly dropped quickly in 2 sectors due to the chase cars now working together and to say I was annoyed at this was an understatement. However, it looked like Nepal made a slight mistake in one of the Mulsanne chicanes, leaving chorda about 2s back trying to hunt me down. The rest is as chorda said above.

The one thing to note is, that I probably only ended up on my own up front because I didn't take fuel, presumably allowing me a shorter pit stop, so in fairness the race would have probably continued as a three way draft fight if I'd taken the 10L of fuel I needed. 💡

Good racing though guys and well done to Nepal for the win with few practice laps. 👍

A valuable lesson learnt here for sure.

Wardez - Is the custom track shared yet?

I tried pitting on lap 6 to catch the leader, flashed high beams at Sifer if he wanted to join me, I think we had a shot if he would have, just lost a little each lap to the leaders, starting at a measly 4 second gap, was back to 12 seconds down when I spun on 14.

Just figured I'd add that, nice reports guys, every time you three switched I wondered what happened, but never got quite close enough, must have been within 2.5 seconds of Dennis for a bit after pits though, sooo clooose!

I can consider myself very lucky on the race tonight. Wish I had this kind of luck on the integras or GT4 Cup or WSGTC! :). I just jumped into the lobby since Wardez had invited me to go, so I just went for fun. Never expected to actually win :D. I just wanted to finish. My Z06 had a setup for Cape Ring that I had developed for a little league I was on before joining GTPlanet. Luckily, it wasnt bad for Le Mans, but tyre wear was a problem, probably due to my LSD settings. I had no time, so I couldnt tweak anything. I had a good pace throughout the race even after the pits, but on lap 13, I believe, I went wide coming out of the first chicane on the long straight and I thought that was the end of the race, but nope. :D. I put 13L of fuel when the game was recommending 10L! Probably the smartest decision I have ever done in GT5. Got me the victory, God was good to me on the race. I was just smiling when I see Chorda's car slowing, it was like the light at the end of the tunnel. :sly:

I had fun, great racing. I have a good feeling next week for the Integras after tonight' race. Thanks to Wardez for the invite and all that raced. 👍

Nice reports! Very entertaining to read.

I've never seen anyone run out of gas outside this series. Has anyone else?

I had a hearty LOL at this from Welsh:
The small lead that I'd built up to approx' 3.5s (great pace by Nepal), suddenly dropped quickly in 2 sectors due to the chase cars now working together and to say I was annoyed at this was an understatement.

Indeed, this is incredibly frustrating. It's almost worse if you are just out of the draft range of a pack of cars and you have to watch them slowly drift away into the horizon every long straight - over many, many laps.

Ahem... I'm aware.
From 1 to 6 I watched them drive away, pitting early almost brought chorda back in range, and then I watched them drive away again.

I imagine it would have been different with more laps, most notably everyone would have ran out of fuel at some point.

We were all running solo from lap 8, then I think Chorda caught Nepal around lap 12/13 ;)

Looks like I'll be able to join you guys for the last 2 races.

Fair point, but basically for the second half, since my early pit didn't quite catch me up, I had to save tires and eventually saved some fuel. ;)

Welcome.

I was still bummed that we shorted the distance. But good times were still had.
Had to practice a ton for this one since I've never been a fan of Le Sarthe, my concentration wanders and I get bored with the 7 miles of straight lines. Did a nice one on lap 9, after the claustrophobia got the best of me and I got a wheel wrong going into indianapolis I pretty much gave up... decided to pit to fix my damage and it worked out because I got to come out behind Wardez (who'd also had to pit early) so we spent the night together. Tire differences and I'm not sure, but Wardez your car looked like something wasn't right with it... whatever I ended up on my own in the early morning... got bored, lost my focus and totally forgot to turn for porsche. Plowed through the sand and into the wall.
So I had to lip to the pits, get the dents hammered out, for a cost of > 1min. Shame too, as over night me and Wardez had managed to start to reel in CSL and Sifer.
Least the practice did pay off, early on I ran a 3:45.1 to put up a fastest lap that was never broken by the checker.
chorda did a 3:45.2 near the end with Nepalii folling close @ 3:45.3

now Pix!

And there off!
That's the race winner Nepalii back there in my "yankee smoke screen".

a lap later the lead group was pruned to 3 as Sifer was going what had to be the highest top speed of the race (pretty near 220mph) and ran long into the kitty a the first chicane.
btw, sorry for the wonky wheel (I had a matching one on my rf); first dark lap you stopped surprisingly short at the ford chicane and I couldn't slow and swerve under you quick enough; barely felt the impact but I know I clipped your corner. seeing the blinking lr tire on the replay confirmed that.
