This thread was started to ask if tuning is cheating... and somehow it turned into an argument about a driving aid setting (SRF) that can EASILY be restricted to be prohibited for all??

Cheating is when someone does something on the sly that gives an unfair advantage over others. If tuning is not set to prohibited, and SRF is not banned... Doing either is not cheating.
Unless of course you're in an organized spec race, where people agree to use one upgrade but not another, and one tuning option, but not another.

If someone else wants to play gt5 with their pals, and they all agree to jack up all their driving aids or whatnot, what difference would it make in my life? None at all!!! No reason for me to get flustered or overwrought about it.
For a moment I thought I was on some kind of controversial debate forum.

Options are a beautiful thing. I wish there were more in GT5, but there are quite a few. Nobody is forced to use SRF... or TC or ABS for that matter. 👍
And for those of us who enjoy tuning, we have LSD, fully customizable suspension, etc. Tuning is part of the game. 👍

A Yellowbird a day keeps the mechanic away.

I got most of my car control skill by driving really hard-to-drive cars on comfort tires 'round the ring, and it really helped me. Now I can push any car without the fear of losing it.
More countersteering equals more fun, especially online.

So the point is you'll never improve if you make it easy for yourself, but hey, whatever suits you the most.

I don't know about you guys but I love Skid recovery. I only use that and TCS on 1 though.

Lol of course you like it. It makes you several seconds faster on any track. It also makes driving 100 times easier. If you ever decide you want a challenge thiugh, be sure to turn it off.

I guess some might think it is that way using a part on the yellow bird that didn't actually exist on it. (Someone suggested it wouldn't have had customizable LSD or something?)

But this is a fantasy game really. I mean it's not like anyone here, in real life, would own that many different variety of cars. (Particularly not 0/0/0 LOL)
It's not real life. So if someone wants to put parts on a vintage car that wouldn't have had them - or use traction control or ABS... It's a fantasy. You're not time traveling... you're fantasy traveling - to a place where you can have ABS on a 1950s car, or that you could have newfangled parts on a 60s car. Or that you can use SRF and drive as if you're actually a pretty snazzy racer even if you're not.
Or, you can drive with no aids, and try to make it as realistic for yourself as possible.
It's a fantasy, in different ways for different people.
GT5 has something for everyone.
If it didn't have such a wild appeal, it wouldn't even exist, because they'd never be able to sell enough to make it worth a profit.

It is good to know that all of us Americans act exactly the same. Slow down, take a deep breath and try a fresh start where you dont call people names, or make statements about someones nationality. At the end of the day this is just a game.

And what a shame, because it is an interesting topic in gt5 culture.

To recap:
Whether or not one should tune a car in a way that would never be done in real life - or perhaps would.
And whether or not that constitutes "cheating" in some way for some people.

Doesn't anyone have some passionate opinions about the Yellowbird?

I myself knew nothing of it until I became rather fascinated with it in gt4.
But I've yet to even try driving it in gt5!
