Of course, 1st place on my first try.

I used this as a guideline:

I've been trying it a couple of times but no matter what, I always fail in 2nd position, totally out of reach of the leader (5-6 s gap).

I tweaked the car a bit (changed the transmission for a close 5) and been running consistently lap times between 1.21.0XX and 1.21.5XX, which seems the very best I can get out of the car considering my average driving skills

Is there anyone here that was able to pull it off? Any tips to share?

Yeah, I did it after numerous attempts... I just bought car & added some aero kits then I went straight to the event. At first, it seems that I can never catch up with the first car ( I think its an Audi A2)... But just keep running and overtake people and by the 4th lap and out of the second hairpin you should have overtaken the the Toyota Vitz. At the last lap and at the last hairpin I rammed the car at first place then got back on track ASAP...

Just bought the 08' fiat 500 as per the requirements of race one. However the bhp of the car is 66bhp as standard but the max is 65. Rather confused on this on, how can I buy the car to race if the car as standard does not comply with the rules. Any one else see this?

Nissan Challenge, I got gold with 1.30 first lap, remaining laps were 1.28 with a best lap time of 1.26.830. I won by 0.683s. This included hitting the wall a few times.

I'm using G27 and paddle shifters for the Fiat race. I did the sports filter, clutch/fly, window reduction, close-ratio gears, fixed suspension, bodykit, and still over 4 seconds behind the leader after 4 tries. You people saying this is easy are smoking crack. I'm running low 1:20 laps and slipstreaming constantly.

Remember, it is the internet... anyone can say and be whatever they want. There's more than a couple people here bragging about how easy challenges were who haven't actually golded anything.

FWIW, I got 2nd on the 500 event on the 2nd try after I realized the dang car doesn't have to be showroom stock. Didn't have time to do another couple of tries to see about 1st place. I say try the fully adjustable suspension and transmission. Those should be worth maybe .4-.5 a lap, if not more.

Where is the fun in these? I can only get second in the fiat event 3.7 seconds behind the leader and thats pushing the little fiat to the limit. I even did the window weight mod to get it down to the bare minimum 1000kg. These are just like the licence tests where the only way to win is to drive in a way that would get you killed/black flagged in real life. These events are just stressful, there is setting a challenge and then there is just being stupid.

You guys are unbeleivable, rolling start in last place with the cars stretched out in single file and I'm supposed to be thankful for the challenge? I want fun. Its a VIDEO GAME.

Well its a competition based game. Get used to a challenge, its called agon. If you want a video replay of someone doing it, ask, its not impossible. I did it with the dualshock3 on everything and got gold within the night on all 5.

Edit: If youd like I will tell you what settings I have my cars at, it might help you. Just tune it to the limit, add sports suspension, drivetrain stuff if youd like, and transmission of your choosing very basically.

Love the amount of CR and EXP point you get. Nice addition.
Just hope the AI will get more difficult, as winning was a little too easy.

I managed to beat the Fiat race with a completely stock car. It wasn't easy, but a lot of fun. Besides, I don't want to waste credits on that stupid car.

The others I beat with stock cars on the first try except the Challenger race (I had to buy a new transmission) and the GT-R race. My tuned R34 could only manage a distant 2nd with me driving. It sounds like a nearly stock R35 is actually a lot faster.

All gold on these last night. Boatload of cash and credit. Only need to retry events a couple of times, generally silver out of the box.

Tip:
Restrictions do leave room for suspension upgrades- do them and lower your ride, you'll gain cornering speed. You don't need the full race suspension to accomplish this either, just ride height adjustment (around -4) and stiffen the springs a couple clicks (a couple extra clicks stiffer in the rear to reduce understeer- read GT-R.)

Transmission upgrades can help . . . close ratios for the first couple of races, and full race tranny for the Challenger and GT-R (you'll need to dial in/up the top speed for the '70 Challenger to around 155.)

Twin plate clutch and lightweight flywheel help keep shifts quick and revs up.

Each one of these seemed to have a couple spots on the track where I could carry a ton more speed than the AI. If you can consistently hit those corners you'l find yourself atop the podium with a pile of cash.

I added a rear wing and bumped up the rear downforce, this helped tame the rear end a bit (my tune could have used with slightly softer springs in back as well). I also ran TCS on 1. The car was still pretty loose but I did manage to win on my second try. The keys to speed are found in turns 2-5 (where I consistently passed other cars) and the final turn, where if you set it up right (4th gear, revs up, tight to the apex) you'll exit with speed to grab the draft on the mainstraight.

I could only get 2nd on the one with the Fiat, 2nd on the next one and then I won the 3rd one. This 3rd one, with the Mazda, is the most fun I have ever had in my life! The car was sliding around all over the place and I overtook the leader on the last corner sideways

Honestly, these new gamemodes are fantastic cos they are totally different to the rest of the game! I hope they add more and more of these, its too easy in A-Spec mode to just max ya car out and win by a mile so it's nice to have to work your socks off to win. It's like 5 qualifying laps in a row to win these races. Love it!

he is correct these are the money spots where you own the a.i lol I loved these challenges I cant wait for some more balanced racing like this it makes you use real driving skill instead of overpowering all of your opponents. Why cant A spec be like this???????????

Above are all and only changes performed after buying one from the dealer. Didn't have them, just purchased them to drive these new events. The Fiat did it with -0.147, the CR-Z had 4s margin. Good drivers will do better than that. Important with the CR-Z is to get used to the grip level these tyres deliver and not over drive it, be smooth with the steering and the accelerator,

Driving aids:
- G27 with clutch
- everything off,
- ABS = 1
- steering set to simulation
- ffb 10

Still I'm surprised that more people are having difficulties than I'd have expected. For now I'll take it a reason to consider myself apparently a slightly better driver than I would think myself to be. Woohoo :-)

the mazda event is driving me crazy, i can get to 5th place on the last lap and thats it. I have bought everything you can, added a wing etc i dont understand how you can gain more on just 5 laps i dont i loose too much.

First try I got 6th place for that. 2nd-3rd try was 2nd, and 4th try was first. I've learn the Mazda race is all about how you control the car through throttle, line and drafting. Plus, I now us the stick. Thanks Jeff Gordon *15 mins of fame*

a challenge ? Its my first day with a wheel and I golded em all on the first try exept the last one, took me TWO times.....

Golded them pretty easy, both in the fiat and the indy road course events I was 1st in lap 4/5 and won by 5+ seconds. in the fiat race I was as low as 18.7xx laps.
Only race I struggled with was the last one because I was hellbent on doing it with my r33 nur car, had to really abuse other cars to manage it, but after about 10 tries i managed to win it. Tried with a specV afterewards and won it with 10 seconds.
But I can't even silver the godamn sebastian vettel events. I have golded everything in every single GT game that has ever existed, but I fear those races will be my bane.

Thanks for the advice regarding the cr-z alpha race. Managed to gold this event by 6 seconds on my first try using a dualshock 3 thanks to the settings given earlier in the thread. Mazda event is still giving me grief though.

The only thing that bugs me about these challenges is the fact that the leader has a half lap advantage.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy racing the AI and not being able to out power the competition but giving the leader that much of an advantage is unfair. I'd rather have the race start like a normal race.

both of my GTRs (07 and V-Spec) are bone stock but I can't enter it because I did the oil change and now it's just a few HPS over...

can't use my R-34 R-Tune...

am I really going to have to buy a new GT-R just to race this event? come on!

If you drive the car in a few other event the HP will eventually decrease enough so you should be able to enter it into the Special Events. I made the same mistake with my RX-7, so I let my B-spec driver drive it around Suzuka Circuit 20 or 30 times. The HP fell back enough to allow me to enter the car again.

I found the secret to the fiat was to power through the corners. Turn in and mash the gas. Easy win. Only mods were filter, lightening as allowed and close ratio tranny.

I hit 201 drafting, proper gearing is what I was looking for, not trying to get a top speed run.
