Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the cross fire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger,
you legend, you martyr, and shine!

What a shame...

Very sorry to hear this.

Even though he only made one album with Floyd (and two solo albums) his influence lived on both within the band and upon others who found inspiration in his work.

And even though he hasn't produced material for more than 30 years, he will be missed.

RIP...

No more Dark Side of Pink Floyd... so much knowledge... gone now.

Who will consume the acid of the ages now?

Rest In Peace, a true Legend

Sad news, indeed.

Cheers, Sid. You were a crazy-brilliant bastard! 👍

"I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like..."

Sid Barrett.

This man hasn't produced any material since I was born.

But I own or have heard everything he ever recorded. There isn't any other artist I would rather have sat down and jammed with.

Goodbye Sid.

May he rest in peace.

Shine on...

I've been listening to Pink Floyd all day, and tonight I went out and bought Pulse on DVD and Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in honor of him. It's the first Pink Floyd I've actually owned. :indiff:

Sad times...

:scared:

Are Pink Floyd albums still on sale these days in record stores?

I haven't spotted a single album in my whole life apart from the four I got from my dad...

Yes, indeed they are... somehow I don't think that the current members of Pink Floyd have to worry too much about sales dropping off...

I recently borrowed this version of 'Piper...' from a friend at work... I can strongly recommend it, although it might be a bit expensive... the mono output is very different to the original release. Alot of detail/effects that are obscured in the stereo version are much more audible in the mono version...

It takes a bit of looking but they're available. Skip places like best buy and go straight to music/video stores like HMV

RIP Syd.

I bought 3 Floyd Albums in HMV today, Relics, Wish You Were Here and the Wall. Wanted Echoes too, but they didn't have it. That music used to astound me as a kid, and I still know every word to Wish You Were Here :D

Trouble is, I now need an amazing stereo to hear it properly :grumpy: Just have to sit in the car I suppose...
