Few questions about them.

The numerical value you set, is that average horsepower or PP?

And why are the shuffle races fun?

I'm not sure of the 1st question. I do know the second one.

It's basically for the challenge & randomness. Most Shuffles they'll give you a new car you have never saw before and you try to adapt to it. It may be as easy as a Skyline, or as hard as a Yellowbird. It's also a way to discover cars you never thought would've perform well.

Well i don't know how good it really is.

First 3 races i did(in same room) i got AWDs so i thrashed the comp.

I wish they would up the range of cars to include 600 and 700 as well. I had a blast driving a CTR2 last night around Spa and then an R8 in the next race (winning both).

Shuffle races are fun because it takes away the 'tuning advantage' factor. (Like when someone has a 'wolf in sheeps clothing' type car, that just cleans up.) You race what you're given. The playing fields are more even & I've found the racing generally to be cleaner.

if only the shuffle system wasn't broken, in the same class as the GT-R, Supra, Lancer, etc there are several muscle cars that top out at 130mph, basically if you end up with one you have zero chance of winning, unless you're on a short track

XKR vs Audi R8.

Crummy FR UK car vs Kick ass German AWD.

German car wins without even trying.

400pp with Shuffle Ratio set at 4 seems to be the best for me. Any higher, and I kept getting the Yellow Bird or BTR... Great for Sarth No Chicane... but horrible for Trial Mountain.

Wish their was information on what the "Shuffle Base: and "Shuffle Ratio" does.

On the ring pray you do not get a 427 cobra.

The low top speed will just murder you.

I am still struggling to work out the Shuffle Base and ratio. I understand that 500 means the performance points of the vehicles, but what of the base and ratio? I don't understand what they do or mean or what having the ratios changed actually does. Can someone please explain it simply for a numpty like me?

In addition, is there any way to set one of the presets for the event - like there currently are for Ferrari cars, GT500 etc? I would like to preset something like JDM 1990s road cars, as they are all around 276bhp under that gentlemen's agreement, so the racing between an NSX, GT-R, Evo, RX-7 and STi are usually close.

Also, can you make a limited selection of vehicles available from your own garage and Shuffle those cars if you are the room owner?

Sorry for all of the questions but I want to understand the online component better as it provides a lot of fun.

You can set up one make and no tuning races through the normal mode. Kind of like shuffling, but it's whatever spec you set. Limeted, but fun.
Also. Shuffle bases at 0-1 are closer cars. Higher values represent a potential higher difference in cars.
If you have a room with close racing, keep the values low. If the room is spread out, try a larger shuffle base.

I dunno, but these days when I'm online it seems the most fun seems to come from the shuffle races. You might even say

That is exactly the info I was looking for. So the shuffle base is the closeness of the pp of the cars. The lower the number the closer the cars. Thankyou very much for that. How then does the ratio work?

No. Shuffle base is the pp of the cars. 500 @ ratio 10 would be a bunch of similar 500 pp cars. Ratio 0 would be even closer together within the 500pp range.

I hope the update/refresh happens soon and includes new shuffle modes and options or something. Current shuffle has gotten pretty stale. It's pretty much dead. Online is going to die with only normal rooms to sort through.

From what I gather, the ratio changes the previous race's winner to a lower pp based on the base pp. Example- winner's car is 500pp and ratio is .4. The winner's next car will have the pp reduced by 40% in an attempt to balance the stronger and weaker drivers. The ratio will also boost the previous race loser's pp by %40, and middle of the pack finishers will receive less of a pp% change.
This is all just speculation though.

I posted this in another thread too

I have discovered that the best racing experiences online are from shuffle/spec races, all with random PP specs, comfort softs- sports hards only, no aids, voting for tracks at the end of each race and a 3 minute interval between racing. Its what GT5 is all about, random cars, fast paced, no race is ever the same that way. It never gets boring or repetitive. Always go to rooms that are titled CLEAN SHUFFLE/SPEC, i have met an outstanding # of great, clean racers that way, plus you get to try out cars maybe you would have never looked twice at. The only gripe i have with shuffle is the random muscle car thats thrown into a race once in a while. Im sorry but a chevelle vs and evo on trial mountain, you know the outcome...lol
