I really wonder why Mercedes or Ilmor, fail time after time to build a reliable engine. It doesn't make any sense.
I also keep hearing (for a while now) that Kimi may be too aggresive on the throttle wich is making the engine go boom. It's very much possible that he is to blame.
Being smooth on the throttle can go a long way in helping the engine stay in one piece.
I don’t think it is how he uses the throttle. If you watch him over the curbs, you will notice he hits them more aggressively than anyone else out there over the race distance. I think these big hits with the curbs can’t be helping the reliability of the car – in fact, the commentators mention this during the Monaco GP.

I would have thought though that suspension and ride height would sort that out to some extent, perhaps not completely but it would still make an effect.

It shocks me that no one has voted for Alonso.

IMO, Alonso's chances or winning anything next season are far beyond Kimi's, unfortunately....

As of right now, I seem their chances of winning to be about the same. Kimi has to deal with grenading V8s and Alonso will more than likely have to deal with a down on power compared to the rest of the field V8.

Ditto – then again, it shocks me that so many people have voted for Kimi. Kimi is one of, if not the, best Grand Prix drivers in F1 today. Unfortunatly, I don’t think he will have the reliability he needs. :indiff:

Alonso will have a much better package than Kimi next year – speed looks fairly good, reliability will probably be pretty good, too.

Regardless of how good a driver he is or isnt the fact is noone likes him lol.

Im going for Mark Webber, the guys a top class driver, all he needs is the Williams guys to give him a good car which hopefully they will this year (fingers crossed but not holding my breath).

It doesnt seem to matter how fast McLaren are, they just dont know how to make a reliable car so thats why i'm ruleing them out this year. Maybe they need to find them a new engine supplier or something.

You can never really rule Micheal Schumacher out, the guy seems to be fast no matter what the hell is going on with his car, bits falling off it left right and centre yet he still finds a way to get the thing around the track faster than anyone else, and with the bulletproof reliability Ferrari has you just cant rule them out, maybe Massa will spring a suprise or two on us, who knows.

I hope Alonso dont win again lol, I just dont like the guy, every year I used to say I dont care who wins as long as its not Schumacher, but now that I think about it, I could have lived with seeing one more year of Ferrari dominance rather than watching Alonso win his first championship! Oh well, such is the way of stuff.

yeah, whats he hiding behind them massive things?

The source of all his powers.

He is world champion because of those eyebrows!! Kimi must try to steal them one day...

(This is the moment when someone photoshops Alonso's "bushes" onto Kimi)

Do his eyebrows give him more power in the Schwartz or something?

I hope not MS. he won enough WC titles. And he didn't even deserve some of these titles.

You cant deny that MS is a great driver. I think he deserved every one he got. The 94 title is a bit iffy but I think even that one should have been his.

If he won it in '97 then yeah ok kikie has a point, but I think his collision with Hill was just a racing accident, both drivers were to blame.

He fully deserves every title IMO. And I don't think a driver can win enough titles.

plus how cool would be it bee if he won 8... The only thing that would make him more of a legend would be 9 or a death bigger then sennas.

What the hell dude!? You're one of the biggest idiots ever, thinking that a driver become a legend judging by the size of the crash they die in. 👎

Yep, I can't deny MS is a great driver. He is!!! But I believe that he didn't deserse some of his titles. I don't have anything against MS. He's very good!! But he just isn't the greatest driver of the last decade. He's probably not even better than Montoya or Kimi or Alonzo etc... He just had a very good car a very good partner (Rubens) and a lot of team orders in his favor, remember!!!
Before I got interested in F1, MS crashed, saw damon Hill in his rear mirror and got back on track, cradhing into Damon, to make sure Damon couldn't become WC. I heard that (when Verstappen) was a team mate of MS, Verstappen had to drive Schumacher's car. verstappen told journalists that MS's car had more buttons and aids than his cars. Verstappen was then promptly fired (that's what I heard from a friend).
Rubens cars always broke down when he still got the change to win the title. He even had to let MS pass just before the finishing line. MS's ferrari never broke down, the last few years. I remember one day (Rubens was only some points behind MS and it was MS's chance to get the title before the ending of that season, if Rubens didn't win) that Rubens car was still standing (on the starting grid, right before the green lights went on) with his front wheels up in the air. Ferrrari said that there was a problem and forgot something. NO way, this was to make sure Rubens couldn't win that race, so MS was able to become WC that race. After that race (and other seasons) Rubens was allowd to win race and his car never broke down again. Why?? Because Ferrari wanted to make sure MS won the title (more than once, more than one season, these things happened.)
I know for fact that MS always left his line right after the start. Many drivers made official complaints about that MS maneuver and he was never punished. I also remembered that Coulthard did the same thing that season (only once) and he was punished.
Etc, etc......

But c'mon guys. MS is a very, very good driver. Not THE best but certainly one of the best around these days. I like watching MS drives. He makes F1 somewhat interesting. He deserves most of his titles but certainly not all of them. Also this, Marc Goossens, an ex F3000 driver (lives only 9 km form where I live) was a very good friend of MS and he said that MS is a very good and pleasant person to have as a friend. you see, I don't have anything against MS, I'm not a fan as well (I'm not a fan of anybody) but he was able to do things other drivers couldn't and therefore got 1 or 2 WC titles he doesn't deserve.
Let Kimi, Alonso, Montoya, Button or somebody else win the next season.

Sorry to all the MS fans for saying these things but I'm not the only one who thinks about MS this way.

McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen says engine supplier Mercedes has a lot of work to do before the start of the season if the team are to be competitive.
From the horses mouth…

I really like Toyota this year, despite not feeling confident in either Trulli or Ralphie.

I still like Renault this year, too. But, with the changes in the car and the team, and how Alonso won the championship last year, the fact he's leaving next season, I doubt he'll be on his best performance. After a win, even championship winners can slack off a bit.

Massa looks great, but I'm not too confident with the car. But, current testing results look good.

1. MASSA Ferrari 1m15.970s
2. BARRICHELLO Honda 1m16.361s
3. FISICHELLA Renault 1m16.365s
4. HEIDFELD BMW 1m16.549s
5. BUTTON Honda 1m16.739s
6. ALONSO Renault 1m16.754s
7. COULTHARD Red Bull 1m16.885s
8. M.SCHUMACHER Ferrari 1m16.907s
9. TRULLI Toyota 1m17.250s
10. R.SCHUMACHER Toyota 1m17.506s
11. LIUZZI Red Bull 1m17.590s
12. RAIKKONEN McLaren 1m17.741s
13. KUBICA BMW 1m17.992s
14. DE LA ROSA McLaren 1m18.258s

You cant say that if a driver was killed in a crash it wouldnt add to their legend. There is always the what could have been or the feeling of loss of what was. I'm not saying MS must die to become a legend, I'm just saying that he has become such a legendary driver, that if he won another world title the only way to become a bigger legend would be to die during a terrible crash.

Real nice mood your putting on the thread there Justin.

I already consider him a legend, and if he wins this championship, I'll probably call him the biggest legend of F1..

You have to keep in mind Massa was driving last year's car with a V8, which means less restrictive aerodynamics...

So far two teams that seem to be doing somewhat better than I expected are Honda and BMW. Looks like a very promising season. 👍
