So why is everyone getting the mx5? Is it really the best one of the premiums under 20 grand? I saw a '95 WRX STI that would be faster but its used and standard, is that the downside? The Mazdas cool, i just would like something more exciting.

The Subaru WRX STI '95 from the video is at Level 4 and you start the game at Level 0 so you cant buy it strait away.
I think alot of people are staring of with the Mazda MX5 mainly because its a premium car and one which you can buy at Level 0 with under 20grand.

Im leaning toward Honda. I would like something premium if I can but if not than I'm guessing a 91 hatchback, a CRX or an older civic hatch. If those are uber slow I might look toward something in the VW's like a golf gti.

Thats right i forgot about the levels. At least its rear wheels drive. I guess you could paint it a different color as well, that would help.

I have no idea anymore what I wll start with. I don't know what's going to be available to me from the start, is the problem. What will be available?

I understand we get 20,000 credits. I understand there is a 'used' dealer again, but for some odd reason we can't buy all the used cars until we reach a certain 'level' of A-Spec points, or something?

Does anbody have any more details? I'm confused. So, what can we buy from the start?

The fact we're forced to buy a car before getting into licenses is what's going to limit some of us, too. Amar said after golding the first license, he found himself at Level 4. I imagine we could end up at fairly decent levels before we've even ran the Sunday cup, and if the prize cars really aren't very unique, selling them could net a sizable amount for a new, exciting car. Why force us to buy a car first?

There is a good chance that I will be starting the game with whatever car I win in the liscence tests.
GT5 is stupid. You have to buy a car BEFORE you take any tests. So yea, if you don't like one of the 3-ish cars, you have to sell it. Stupid move!

I was hoping to be able to start off with the Top Gear "Reasonably Priced Cars" but since there not in the game I guess I'll get the same old Miata like I always do.

I try to get MR car to start so that it gives me more challenge and i get maybe better accustomed to the new physics.

You could get an old school MR2! The one with a super charger,88' 1600sc i think? There cool and unique.

IF we do get any DLC in this game, in the case of cars that is. I gurantee we'll get the new reasonably priced car. As soon as i heard Top Gear was gonna be in GT5, i instanly thought about the reasonably priced car. Then when i saw the actual carlist, i was surprised to see none of them on there. So, with that being said, how the hell am i suppose to know if im faster than Tom Cruise?

Has anyone worked out what the best car you can get for the starting credits you are given is? Also, is there only one premium you can buy with that kind of money at the start? Everyone seems to be buying the MX5

Could someone who has the game make a thread with a list of the cars we can afford at the beginning of the game? I know it's a lot to ask but it would be amazing!

Me? I'll start with the Citroen C4 2.0 VTS. Good amount of power, reasonable handling and great styling; great combo in my opinion. Oh and that fixed hub in the middle of the steering wheel is just SO sexy ;)
Plus all you losers are going with the stupid MX-5. :sly: I'm going a bit less mainstream.. bet I'll be the only one not in an MX-5 come the 24th.

This guy has a video showing some of the cars available in the used car section. http://www.youtube.com/user/E5Ridez

Of the cars I saw in there I would pick this:
Celica SS II

You have to remember about the level system in there. If you want to buy something decent (not price, i'm talking power/tuneability) you need to level up. The only cars available at lvl 0 are powered up to about 180-190 bhp if you're lucky.

When I was looking with my 20k, there wasn't much choice for my taste. A couple of FTO's, a mazda MX5, a Mazda 6, amongst the rubbish.

I bought a 1976 Golf GTi and had quite a bit of cash left over for a turbo + other mods to get me started. This gets you through quite a few races (Sunday Cup, FF cup, Hot Hatch Cup, Classic cup) in the beginner section of the game.

What I should have done was do the B license and some of the special events (I think you can do these without owning a car) This will get you up to lvl 6 or so and will let you get a nice 90's impreza or maybe an RX7.

After seeing Chris start with an MX-5 it makes me wanna start with something else too,Silvia perhaps.:) but the premium FC3S was too expensive.:grumpy:

I will try to pick up some form of used car with low miles that I really like and hold onto it. If one of the hondas ive owned in real life are available Ill grab one of those. Otherwise something cheap enough to upgrade it a little at the start.

After reading this I might just start with a MKI Golf.👍

It would be a crime for me to NOT start off in the MX-5.

By the look of your avatar and sig im not surprised :), Im going to consider
picking one up compared to the other cars. Such a cool little vehicle...

I think I'm gonna start with a kart. Someone who has the game says they did this.

The kart costs 5,000. Buy that first, do my licenses, do all the kart races, and then buy a real car (or use one that I've won).

It makes sense to start your racing with karting, since that's the natural first step in the real world.

I have the game, here is a tip

A used Celica to start (it should be available), then buy the rx-7 Premium, and those two pack a nice 1-2 punch to start
