yesterdaylighti've tried it with 24 and it is harder to do, because the traces are harder to connect to that way. much easier with a delecate 30 gauge. are you mondo good at surface mount soldering ? if you have never soldered before, this is not a project for you. get a chip and a wire set though. so much easier with 30 gauge kynar
I re-did mine for the third time, this time with 26 ga magnet wire, and it was a much easier install this time around. Partially because of knowing where all the wires go from practice, and partially because the magnet wire is much easier to get the correct length while stripping only a tiny amount at the ends. I dropped down to 28 ga on the M-P wires, just to make that part a little easier, and since the wires are so short (about 1cm each) the increased resistance due to smaller diameter should be negligible.
Anyway, after all that it still does the same thing, so I have contacted the people I bought it from for an RMA. I'm going to take a pic of the install before I remove it though, as I think I outdid myself this time.
