The Australian guy and his (stolen) retail copy of GT5. Legit or fake ?

Someone in the news comments said that BCES code is from Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony on PSP and they have changed the 'U' to a 'B'. However it just could be a coincidence that GT5 has the same number code.

With regards to the disk I'm unsure as to why its so matt in finish. Usually disks are a mixture of matt and gloss (because they are printing with ink that's more like paint!). Having said that some Blu Ray movie releases have been totally matt and sometimes look fake even though they are real!

I would say its hard to tell but for some reason I wouldn't believe they would put a Rays wheel on the art. Why not an SLS wheel?

Robin.

About the wheel, I did notice that. Got me thinking the same thing. But I thought it (the wheel on the disc) was from that red Evo.

There is something wrong with the BCES-00569/ANZ. The thing is I am damn well sure that Australia has got it's own code.

The reason I say this is that the code is for the Europe Reigion 2 but Australia is a Reigion 1.

First letter: indicates the storage format. Can be either "B" for Blu-Ray or "S" for DVD.

Second letter: indicates if it is a first party game (Sony) or third party game (exclusive or not). Letter "C" for first party and letter "L" for third party.

Third letter: indicates the region. "A" = Asia, "J" = Japan, "U" = United States and "E" = Europe.

Fourth letter: indicates the type of content. "D" = Demo, "S" = Game."

I have seen this part many times (BCES-00569) but what this last part, is a new one on me ( /ANZ ).

I will try and find this out its has got to be somewhere.

My prologue disc = BCES-00104/P/ANZ

I'm Australian btw..

ANZ = Australia New Zealand

I hope.. Sony gives us a date after this. I bet Kaz is one the phone right now . . . 'release next week? ok, sure, I'll announce it'

OMG Look! GT5 North American Release too!!!!

:p

CONFIRMED: GT5 also fully functional on PS2! :p

(It's a shopped GT4 disk guys).

Never mind the Blu-Ray logo, check out the GT5 logo. I've got over 4 years experience with Photoshop and I can tell anyone straight away that is fake. Photoshoping things like this is not funny, it doesn't look authentic at all.

Gosh that's a train wreck of a fake, how gullible would you have to be!

Its got PS2 written round the edge, the copyright date is 2004, using the old PlayStation 3 logo, GT5 logo has jaggies and is squished. Basically the GT4 disk with 5 written on it! :sly:

New people coming into this thread are going to get confused thinking this is the disk we are talking about!

Nothing wrong with the code there. My New Zealand bought uncharted 2 copy has BCES-00509/ANZ on the disc.

I wasn't supposed to look authentic...

It was a joke.

I changed the title, its more fitting, considering people commented on its legitmacy. I still believe its authentic. The original picture he took was not a low res image, one could zoom well onto it. The paint on the disc had a legitimate look to it. Its real or he is incredibly good with photoshop.

The video is such bull! just because they have gone to all the trouble of making all the mailing material and various pieces of paper doesn't mean is believable.

Firstly PD wouldn't mail you the game directly for review, Sony would, and also it would be sent from the local entertainment arm (wherever that may be). Anyone know what the Japanese writing says on the piece of paper? I bet it just says random things.

Secondly the most obvious thing is that PS3 games are not wrapped in extremely loose creased plastic and don't have a holographic security sticker . They are shrink wrapped in tight plastic with a tear strip which goes round the case, seeing as the guy obviously doesn't have that sort of manufacture equipment is shows its so fake.

Third thing is he doesn't stick the game in, who wouldn't if they seriously had a copy!

Such jokes... Don't know why people would need to be told its fake.

Robin.
