GT 5.5? I hope not.

Lets face facts. PS3 is an obselete piece of kit.
1 3.2GHZ Power 5 CPU and 6SPUs that are non independent. All instructions are fed through the Power 5 core.
It has a crap (by2013s standard) GPU, an Nvidia 7800GTX GPU and split memory pools of 256MB XDR@3.2ghz and 256MB DDR3.

Its a mess, YET, Guerilla Games, makers of Killzone series ported their PS3 engine unto PS4. They had a press conferance today detailing it.

The PS4 has 8 Cores, each between 1.6GHz and 2GHz.
8GB GDDR5 ram at 176gb/s
and a HD7850 GPU.

What they did was basically emulate the PS3 instruction set on PS4 by having 6SPUs emulate by the 6CPU cores on PS4 to distribute the CPU loads. They used the remaining two PS4 CPU's to emulate the POWER PC Core, and then ofloaded the rest to the GPU.

SO, why didnt PD announce GT6 being cross-gen if its that simple to do????
The PS4 Graphics Card is literally 10× the power of PS3s AND, there is a unified pool of memory.
I am disappointed. I really am.

First GT I may skip......... :(
So...I complained on the 1st page...
I have my PS4 now...
Still... I thirst for GT6.. I bit the bullet.. and pre-ordered it today :D

Yeah, you see it's a flawed philosophy man!

I work a tough day, get the train home, sit down and open a beer. Turn on the PS3 (TV turns on automatically - nice). I get a text - girlfriend is out for the night. Decision made - Silverstone 4hr endurance it is. Select the car, select the helmet, select the driving suit, select the victory pose, select the hair colour, select the track.

THE SILVERSTONE CIRCUIT IS CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING. HIGH TIDES HAVE CAUSED THE STOWE RIVER TO BURST IT'S BANKS.

LMFAO

They still haven't fixed the clutch. It shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but being forced to use it in Assetto Corsa and with it working so flawlessly I fired up GT5 last night only to be disapointed when I realised how bad the clutch was in GT5.

So If I had to have a whine then it would be for them to fix the clutch, all the other sims have it working to some degree and GT6 still has that broken clutch. Meh.

Like i stated before, GT6 is lmost identical to GT5. So little done since GT5, disapointed.
They should atleast make the game better. But they didnt even try it seems.

"Isn't it amazing? Every single star you see there is realistically mapped to the portion of the sky that it would be at that hour over that race track. The glow at the bottom correlates with the real refraction of the light from the nearest star (which is called 'the Sun', fact lovers) as it filters through our planet's exhaust fume-saturated atmosphere. Look at it. Every single star. Isn't it beautiful?

You know what the funniest thing is? That picture at the top was altered by my good self in Photoshop. I moved some of the stars around. Sorry, Kaz, I know they took a long time to put in the right place. This is the real picture:"

Hahahahahahaha
Well, maybe the pictures aren't in the same moment of the night / week / month / year / age / world... :D :D :D

I have to say, after reading the reviews Im feeling sick to my stomach.

Its exactly what I feared: AI is still supbar, so is damage, standards are there, its messy, etc, but who cares about all that, the premium cars look great and theres so many of them along with tracks.

9/10 because I've accepted GT will always have bad AI, bad sound, bad damage, etc.

Why do people keep giving this game a pass for these faults?

How can you rate it 9/10 with bad sound, bad AI, and bad damage? Those 3 things are very important to a racing game, and to flunk all 3 is very bad and not worthy of a 9/10. But wow what can 1200 cars (800 PS2 models) and 40 tracks (maybe half PS2 ports as well) do to win people over.

So just as I feared, graphics, and shear content blinded reviewers to the games faults.

The reviews themselves are so shallow. They basically say: "Its Gran Turismo" and mention running over cones, the moon, and then slap it a 9/10.

Nothing in depth about AI, quality of career mode races, or anything of substance. No mention of shadow quality or framerate. The escapist even had a Drive Club picture in their review. How lazy and incompetent. Look here, how pathetic http://www.escapistmagazine.com/art...-Gran-Turismo-6-Review-Roving-Around-the-Moon

So why am I sick to my stomach? PD will not see a reason to change or to do better now. They can still get high review scores and still sell millions with bad sound, AI, and damage. Any improvements in those areas will still be slow or non existent.

Point is, these "reviewers" are super casuals who have no idea what is needed in a racing game. All they see is a bunch of cars and tracks, and you race. Thats it. They probably would have given GT5 a 9/10 if it wasnt so buggy at launch.

Gran Turismo - the McDonalds of racing games.
IGN's review is the one to go by for me; they were on the money when GT5 came out and they are on it again with scoring GT6 an 8/10.

I agree 100% with what you say, but it's not all negative. I'll pick it up second hand soon enough and enjoy the hotlapping anyway as the physics, tracks, day/night transitions still make it worthwhile to own.

Just watched the IGN review for GT6, wow what a disgrace.

It just looks so, boring! The only thing that I like is that they got rid of the ridiculous used car system. Someone needs to tell PD that nobody cares if you have 1200 cars when they all sound like a refrigerator and you can't customise them properly. I'll probably rent it but I highly doubt I will buy it.

Oh, and 🤬 the moon, and everything to do with the moon.

Is the framerate of big concern?

Will it be just a driving game, or a driving and racing game? - that is the question I have to answer.

Once again, 🤬 the moon.

Your comment made me think of this:

Hey. I heard NFS Rivals is out, you should go try it. :sly: I mean. Sim racers like pCARS is sooooo BOOOOOring.

AI in pCARS, while still under development, can be way more aggressive and competitive. Would be nice to at least have some kind of a "damned vicious cheating bastard" level of difficulty in GT, like Insane was in Forza Horizon.

How does PCARS look boring to you? We get it, you love GT. We understand you don't need better sounds, good AI, many of the worlds iconic cars, updated cars and updated tracks.

Why don't you just make a "Let's praise PD for doing a crappy job because we lack imagination!" thread and go there?

I have not bought the game. I was waiting for official reviews and the 1.01 patch before making my decision. I am still not going to buy the game.

Kaz has clearly gone down the 'Driving Simulator' route more and more over time - drive clean and polished cars around clean and polished tracks. Stare at the stars while driving your open top Z4 around Brands Hatch, as your scarf flutters in the wind. It's a romantic world of enjoying automotive machinery.

This romantic world doesn't need opponents; it doesn't need damage, because after our filet mignon in the Brands Hatch restaurant who would be driving fast enough to crash anyway?? This game is for the solicitor who takes his 458 to Silverstone to partake in a track day on Sunday. The poor car probably doesn't even get to top gear, but as long as Mr. New Money can show off his money, the day is a complete success.

Meanwhile I am sitting at home watching the 1996 Brazilian Grand Prix on video, watching Damon blitz everyone else for the millionth time. I am turning on Indycar by Papyrus, just because the AI is that good, and tunable to exactly match your skills (I am at 104% as far as I know). I am listening intently to Lewis Hamilton talking about the Pirelli tire rubber hitting his hands when driving. I am watching Kimi performing a masterful 3 corner overtake. I am getting nervous on the parade lap, heart pounding as 1 light...2 lights...3 lights...4 lights...5 lights...lights out! i am relieved as my favourite driver crosses the line to take the chequered flag. This is not Gran Turismo, and probably never will be.

Truer words have never been spoken.

I will not get GT6 or from the reviews I would do nothing but whine here. Read a review from a well renown simracer and nissan GTR owner that was all but flattering regarding improvements of the lackluster GT 5. And the career appear to be worse with more grinding and more tutorials telling me I have never driven GT before lol.

But sure if there is a demo I will try it. The GT Academy demo didn´t run well at all so don´t have much hope.

Back on topic, the lack of Feeder music in this game disappoints me. Unless I missed a couple songs thanks to doing that GT-R showdown race over and over <_<;
