Cars look outstanding!!!It's no more like symbols (like in other games).Just imagine cockpit view...And what if they make LM...It just blows my mind...

The Mclaren will have awesome cockpit view! right in the middle!

👍

Shame they didn't carry this trait over to the MP4-12C.

A central driving position meant it could fit 2 back seats, as there was legroom either side of the driver's seat. The F1 was a 3-seater, which was more than pretty much all of it's competitors.

It also did wonders for weight distribution.

Glad to see McLaren in GT5. Hopefully in the final game it has Active Aero.

That is the first official picture of the Mclaren F1, no?

All other footage has come from gameshow demos.

Are you sure?Ive heard this is Tiff Needell!!!

No its definitely Andy Wallace. I was just looking at an magazine article from back when the record was first set at Ehra Leissen (sp) and there's numerous shots of Wallace in the car.

You can tell it isn't, firstly Tiff has a red helmet with "Tiff" visibly on the side.
Clearly in the video, you can see the "W" at the front of Wallace's helmet in the rear view mirror.
Also, you can tell its not the same voice as Tiff.

To further prove the point:

^^^Ok ok!
I just saw 5th gear with McLaren F1 and Tiff and he says "the top speed world record, which is set by me" or so.

I think Tiff has taken a McLaren F1 to max speed, but Andy Wallace is the guy that set the record. Tiff did set a record in the F1 but it was for the fasterst average speed around a lap of a UK circuit in a production car at an average speed of 193mph.

Surely the F1 could have gone even faster had it received a generous punt 👍

I doubt it, not factory spec and staying on track anyway. It blistered it's rear tyres on that run, remember it averages 193mph, the actual top speed it reached on that run was just over 200mph, 201 point something mph I think.

there is spoiler animation, look at the R8

He's referring to the Mclaren F1... And he's absolutely right, we don't see it in any of those videos.

Can alucard be so kind as to show us an image/video of the rear spoiler raised in real life, so we can compare? Seen as you are so concerned...

Just to say, the spoiler only comes up under heavy braking. We need a playable demo of the F1 so we can test it out.

Sorry, I didn't realise..

But it would be very weird though if it wouldn't be included.
It's included on the SLS, R8, Veyron, .. so why wouldn't it be for the McLaren..
Think you shouldn't worry with PD's attention to detail

+1 👍

Yep, definitely not seeing that in the GT5 videos. Usually I would say something along the lines of 'It doesn't matter, it's just a visual spoiler, an insignificant detail'. However, the Mclaren F1 is a legend of a car and it seems it's a pretty big deal. I mean c'mon, we saw the HPA Audi TT in those videos with the spoiler up...

*Though I do remember slating Turn10 for not having a moveable spoiler on the Audi R8, a.k.a the Cover car for the game :O It's unthinkable that PD would make the same sort of mistake :D*

Completely agree - this is not "another" or "just" supercar. It's a legend.Kaz himself said that he dream to drive it.

It's Road version, not GTR and it must be with spoiler.R8 have it, Enzo have it!

The brake-spoiler on the McLaren F1 is quite small and subtle compared to the one on the McLaren Mercedes SLR, I tried to spot if it was functioning in that new Nur-clip with the SLS in cockpit-view.
But to be honest, I couldn't really be sure if it was functioning or not from that footage ( which is quite limited regarding seeing the F1 clearly ) and it is still a demo.
I'm sure that the final version will include it though, as GT4 even included these aspects on many cars.:)

I've heard the McLaren spoiler goes up at speed too...80mph or something.

I've heard the McLaren spoiler goes up at speed too...80mph or something.

There is a small rear spoiler on the tail of the vehicle, which is dynamic, the device will adjust dynamically and automatically attempt to balance the center of gravity of the car under braking[7] – which will be shifted forward when the brakes are applied. Upon activation of the spoiler a high pressure zone is obviously created in front of the flap, this high pressure zone is exploited—two air intakes are revealed upon application that will allow the high pressure airflow to enter ducts that route air to aid in cooling the rear brakes.[16] The spoiler increases the overall drag coefficient from 0.32 to 0.39 and is activated at speeds equal to or above 40 mph (64 km/h) by brake line pressure.[9]

It is only there to asist braking stability when the brake is pressed hard.

But I looked at the GT5 videos and struggled to find the spoiler going up under braking at all. We won't know untill we get new videos or the full game is released.
