Having the F1 makes it better? Last I checked McLaren was in Forza. One car will not make this game better.

This car will make the game better actually.

If there's a livery editor, I'm making it like that. Looks like a tiger or something. Sexy.

 If we get a Livery editor, i am so making that!

I love the look of the F1, it looks so MEAN!

Finally, the KING of supercars came to GT. The F1 has been one of my favourite cars ever since I first played it in NFS II on the PSX, and although many new supercars are faster nowadays, the F1 still holds a special place in my heart. I can't wait to see the perfectly modeled interior that had been (mistakenly) placed on the GT2 cover all those years ago .

Sadly though, I think I'll be a bit disappointed when driving it for the first time. It is common sense that supercars never handle as well as you hoped it would (e.g. Enzo in GTPSP, F40 in GT5P, etc). It's 90's tires and suspension will also make fast driving a lairy experience. I can see a lot of players getting frustrated with this car, and label it as "bad", when in reality it's just old.

That aside, this is absolutely amazing news. Welcome, McLaren .

BTW, if you some of you older guys still remember, NFS II features a video for every car in the game, and the McLaren vid still brings a chill up my spine everytime I watch it:

Wow, I also have always got a chill when watching that footage. Infact I just got one now whilst watching, it's witchcraft I tell ya.

And yes finally we will get a good interior view of the F1.

I wonder if we will be able to customise it, since in real life McLaren cars will customise your F1 to you hearts content.
Adjustable suspension and some lightweight 18's with grippy tyres would be a good start.

If I won the lottery this would be the first car I'd hunt down - this certainly gets the juices flowing in readiness for the game.

I just sincerely hope we don't get another delay - I gave the end of March now as the 'due date' in my head and if its not out by then it's going to be very annoying.

This car and any Sierra Cosworth variant are the cars I'm most looking forward to driving in Gt5 in HD.

I just hope for F1 lm it's same car as GTR from Le man race '95 and look sexy in orange color!!!! That car is much quicker than standard F1! Yes LM have lees top speed but much better acceleration (2,9s)0-100 and much more grip thanks to rear spoiler and other aerodynamic parts on front of car...

Even if all of you have seen it, I couldn't resist from posting it here...

Gives me goosebumps like nothing else. It's just... I don't know... epic, basicly. Everything about the car is simply epic, and I'm not even into super cars, but F1 simply takes the cake.

EDIT: Also, coming from Sweden you may think I'd like the Koenigsegg more, but I don't. And the Veyron may be faster, so what!? It has 4 turbo chargers on a 16 cylinder engine, while the McLaren F1 has a naturally aspirated V12.

Can't wait to drive this beauty:

This is brilliant news, the McLaren F1 is my all time favourite car, it is surely one of the greatest cars ever made so it is absolutely vital it is in GT5, it will probably be a bitch to drive but I don't care, its going to be awesome.

I just need one ... The F1GTR (short)

Its ok, i love the McLaren F1, i love GT, but, if we made a thread for every car who shows... we need 930 threads.

Sorry my english.

Well, there are only threads for the major super car manufacturers as far as I know. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti and now McLaren.

I've always loved Mclaren and what they did with the F1 road car, dispite its lack of downforce and er...dodgy handling at the time. Fantastic its in GT5 now as a road car at last, I just hope its difficult handling is reflected in the game, i.e. very fast, certainly a challenge but rewarding if you can master it, it will probably be sort after in the game, but there is a high chance users won't find it easy to drive. There are faster cars that I like too, for example the awesome Ultima GTR720, but nothing was ahead of the game as much as the F1 at the time.

I'm even more excited about the new road car, as it will have the same straightline performance with far far better downforce and affordable price (for millionares anyway), the MP14-12C will be on another level, hope its there too.

OK so I'm British I am going to say that, and with two British (and the two last F1 world champions I may add) in the F1 team this year Mclaren is more British than ever (OK it has a German engine) and with the new Road car the company have an exciting year ahead of them. Being in GT5 is the icing on the cake :)

Or maybe even this McLaren

(I was trying to find the 2008 car, this will have to do)

Big picture is big.

Oh man that brings back memories. I loved driving the Big mac in that game... and the Isdera. Then Gran Turismo came along, oops.

Wouldn't it be sick if GT had the Commendatore 112i? Or the super snow truck (enter codes SNOWME then POWRUP, go to Pacific Northwest track with traffic on... batter up!)

Yes, any newer supercar would outperform the F1 because of the early 90's tires, but in GT there's a perfect world where even an fiat 500 can get racing slicks.. :), so, when in factory spec and with equal tires, this might prove to be wrong but, I simply cannot assume that there's a car which is faster than this around the nurburgring! Enzo is rubbish compared to it, Veyron is too heavy which would cause it to lost time in each of the 73 turns, Maybe the FXX can match it, but the FXX is not a road going car.

Now, GT5 is perfect, the only absence is the EB110 which is another iconic supercar, this is going to be the greatest GT of all time, by far. Also, assuming that GT2 and GT4 were much improved on content than their predecessors, we can expect a lot more new cars in GT6... Well done PD.

I don't think anyone would be excited enough to make a thread when Lada or Dacia makes it in the game...

Thats sort of what I mean. Those cars are obviously not road cars, no matter what their production numbers say. I suppose you could include the F1 in this too, but these cars serve no purpose other than to go fast, so why not just do it on a track where it is safe and legal?
If they're road legal, then they're road cars.

I dont understand why people would be concerned about the '90's tyres and brakes', its unlikely that any still being driven would still have the same factory fit parts, every car on the road has the same options of ultra grippy modern tyres even if its a old montego. Infact tye rubber has a use by date, normally around 5 years so any mclaren on the road will probably have the same boots on it as a supercar leaving the factory today.

Same with brakes, hit the pedal hard enough and they lock asides from the fade characteristics of newer materials the old brakes are still just as effective, and presuming the macca has had a pads and disc change in the past decade then it could also be running the exact same third party brakes as any other super car.

The car weighs barely 1.1t a tad lighter then a new ford fiesta, with NA power delivery a drag ratio of .32 and a pretty high tech chassis, even now i cant understand the thinking of modern cars being able to run rings around it.

I have just been reading through the tech data and asides from missing a few of the electronic control systems (which are banned in just about all forms of motor racing anyway) there is pretty much no difference between the mclarens set up of suspensions and size of wheels/tyres then most supercars, in fact its weight distribution would make it more stable then most modern heavier machines.

Does this pass the livery editor test?

mclaren%20f1%20niot.net%20(3).JPG

In my opinion, definitely no. In my opinion, any kind of livery, except a racing livery, doesn't fit the McLaren.

I could totally see the Mclaren F1 to become one of my favorite cars in gt

It was a racing livery; chassis #05R.

That's got to be the worst livery I have ever seen. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
