Cold here, under freezing temperatures. Poor Civic & TL frozen to the core with ice...may be time to find a 3 car garage somewhere.

Edit* 29F with supposedly clear skies tomorrow.

My thermometer said very close to, if not 48
ºC :scared:, i'm on the Yorke Peninsula.

That's awesome. So, how is what we actually use much better, if any, than that genius contraption?

You cannot convince me that the old-time Snow-Motor is not the better of the two machines. Possibly losing is towing capacity, but certainly not maneuverability and go-anywhere capability. Maybe wear on the screws? I don't know. I'm intrigued.

My god, almost 50 degrees celcius here today. Thank God I have an oversized pool and no school until mid next week. 👍

We're back at school, it's terrible when it's 48C. :( Thank god my parents are letting me stay home for the rest of the week.

We have ice, lots of ice. It is just at freezing, but I am stuck at home as I have a tree across my drive. I actually have two, but one is above where I park my cars.

I also have a large tree branch down in my yard and I keep hearing them falling around us. Fortunately we have electricity and no property damage.

Once the sun comes up I will attempt to cut my way out.

Pictures will also be taken and posted later.

We got about 7 or 8 inches total, and I've been trudging around through some deep stuff and slush and muck and going 50mph on a rutted highway, waving back and forth all day long. It's really not that bad out...

I've got a few pictures and want to take more. But for now all you need to know is this:

Civic - 1
Snow - 0

You Aussies have no concept of the word “North”, do you?

I thought it may have been "North", but then I thought, No, their is no reason for a car to need to tell you that you're traveling North. Then it really was annoying me and the best I could come up with was Fahrenheit.

That's special.

I live in western washington so we pretty much have no temprature difference all day. The high today was 46; the low was 36. Today was the first day i could go out for the past couple of days without scraping the ice off my car and being able to see out unfogged windows though. It has been snowing late in the afternoon for the past 2 days.

that's because there's nothing worth mentioning above the equator :sly: :P  :nervous:

Just great I have just looked at the forcast for the next week and we have nothing below 39C untill Wednesday, and the forcast only goes up to then.

I really do feel sorry for some adelaidians who have not had power for approx 12 hours. They would be sweltering.

Wait... WHAT!?!

A 10 degree difference? I thought a day without temperature difference meant less than like 2 degrees in winter. And having to scrape the windows off? I can't remember seeing anybody ever have to do this aside from the storm we had in December. Unless you live up in the mountains or way up north...

I live in the foothills of the Cascade range, about an hour drive to Goldbar.

Today it was a low of 37 and a high of 45. Actually, I just looked it up.

It never dips below 32 degrees here ever after January. It just stays cold enough at night to freeze things then cause everything to be extremely wet in the morning.

What a coincedence. Adelaide's high yesterday was 45.7 and our low overnight was 33.9. Only problem is mine is in Degrees Cel. and your is in Degrees Far.

I think soon i might need a larger range on my thermometer. :scared:

OMG - my thoughts are with you in that temp.

It's scary to think that in the last 54 hours adelaide temp has not dropped below 30 Deg Cel.

And it may not drop for another 54 the way its going.

Avalon (approx 56km south west of Melbourne) has just about reached 46C

Apparently...

Melbourne, 16:29 EDT
Temperature: 43.3°C
Heat Index/Wind Chill: 41.4°C
Humidity: 13%
Wind: NNW 20km/h
Gusts: 39km/h
Pressure: 1008.2hPa
Rainfall since 9am: 0.0mm

The funny thing is at my dad's work with bloody powerful aircon it feels like 25 degrees :D

Edit: I stepped outside for the first time in hours... the sudden change of temperature had me dizzy...

ROFL.

Our power supplier has just said on the radio that they have dropped the power in about 50 suburbs to help cope with the demand of electricity. How Rude.
It's not as if this is the first time adelaide has over 40C days. Why have they not got it right yet.

And good news Mike Rann was there commenting on the One and All ship, but he disappeared when they started talking about the power. 👎

I didn't know there were that many suburbs in Adelaide, but that is VERY rude.

Our Government and electricity companies are too scroogy to provide suitable infrastructure for rare events like this. So they tell us to stop using the air cond unless we really have to. That obviously didnt work so now they are shutting down power to suburbs at random for 30mins at a time.

My suburb was not effected.

We have tons of them, many more than that :)
