Record flooding here. I have never seen this much flooding or water in Michigan since I moved here over 25 years ago. Supposed to be nice this weekend.

Go to downtown Grand Rapids. They are saying the Grand River is going to crest at 18.2 feet, which will be a record. I have to go down there later for a meeting and I'm hoping the parking lot isn't flooded out.

Good thing that where I am in Michigan is high up enough to not need to fear flooding, unless you have a basement or are lakefront.

I share your pain. I'm surrounded by flood warnings.

I also heard a bridge collapsed on 48th Street.

Speaking of flooding, we still have a lot of snow on the ground and more falling. :scared:

The National Weather Service has released a new flood forecast with very grim news. In their latest flood forecast released Wednesday afternoon, the Red River at Fargo has a 50% chance of exceeding 40.3 feet, a 25% of exceeding 41.3 feet, and a 10% of exceeding 42.3 feet. The record at Fargo is 40.84 feet.

The low end of the flood predictions, around 38 to 39 feet, would result from a gradual melt with no significant rains.

The high end of the scale, 41 to 42 feet, would result from a very rapid thaw coinciding with heavy rains in late April and early May, forecasters said.

Spring now is officially tardy in record-smashing fashion: Today was for more than a century the date marking the latest arrival of a 50-degree day here, a record set in 1881.

“We’re going to probably end up shattering it,” WDAY meteorologist Daryl Ritchison said of the 132-year-old record.

Last year, Fargo saw its first 50-degree day on Jan. 5, the earliest on record.

Fargo’s latest 60-degree on record is May 6, and May 28 is the latest arrival of a 70-degree day.
I hate to use the phrase, but we are in a bit of unprecedented territory this year.

It did, it collapsed sometime this morning. Division was pretty much under water. 60th and 68th at East Paris was flooded too and 60th was actually closed due to the water being so deep. Made getting to work a bit of a hassle.

Wow really?! Didn't know one of the 48th st bridges collapsed. You should post some pics especially if you go by the Grand River.

I have been checking my basement to make sure it doesn't flood.

Aaaand it is snowing again. :banghead:

Today, 10 days later, it's super hot and super sunny. The spring went missing, you can't explain that! Seriously, there was a 6 month winter and BAM! it's summer the next day! Awwwhhhh that's screwed up, man.

That sounds just like the Danish "weather-system" :p...

They ended up rescheduling the meeting downtown today until tomorrow afternoon, so if I get down there I'll snap some pictures. They're saying the Grand River will crest at 25ft by Sunday night. The flood wall is 26ft. so it's going to be close.

This is from Ionia though:

Tornado Watch and a few quick Tornado warnings and a Winter Storm Warning, Gotta Love it.

Mostly the Winter storm warning for snow right now as the Tornado watch and warnings are for Severe Week.

It was a pretty hot day, 29C max, and it's funny because in barely hit 15C on monday

Rain until 8pm tonight - then sun the last hour, up to 8°C, and a lot of wind. I'd better go secure what's standing outside, or it'll literally fly away, just like yesterday :grumpy:.

We got a good 6" of snow over the last 24 hours, even the local school district that never closes is closed today.

At least this should help get the lakes and rivers back up a little.👍

^Our school closes with 3" of snow but go ahead and send all the kids to school when the roads are covered with ice and fog! 👍

Nothing but rain lately, but it's a good change from last year's nothing but, err, no rain. It's not raining now but it's really cloudy and dreary outside. 39F out, which for whatever reason is colder than the 50F-70F weather we've been having.

It's nicely mild here today, clouds blocking out most of the sun and thus the heat that comes with it.

Also there was a small earthquake this morning but I'm not sure if earthquakes are weather related, although they are geological.

We got a light dusting of snow overnight. Nothing too much thankfully.

Our school only closes if:

1: There is 3 feet of snow or more
2. The wind is blowing it so hard it's impossible to see a few feet in front of you
3. Power is out
4. Bus crashes

My school only closes if: Never, my school never closes.

It has closed before, but that was only because snow damaged the boiler and they aren't that cruel to send kids to school in a school environment below freezing.

How does wind reduce visibility? Do you mean fog?
The wind can carry things like bugs and they can get into your eyes also, when the wind is blowing hard enough here I don't want to look up as it makes my eyes water.
