I hate you. Nearly all the public schools were closed this morning. Why? Because the air was cold. WTF?
It's the same in Kentucky. Many rural schools are closed or delayed. The thinking is that you can't expect young kids to stand outside waiting for a school bus. Of course, we also had a couple of schools last week closed due to the flu.

Don't worry though, we have an Alberta clipper coming in tonight and I am supposed to get somewhere between 2-5 inches of snow, depending on whether you listen to the local news (2-4 inches) or national news (3-5 inches). According to NOAA you should be getting about the same as I am. The schools will have a reason then.

I guess some people live in cold places 'cause they hate short pants.
Or we like the snow. You haven't lived until you nail your older brother in the eye with a snowball. Not that I ever did that.

I did. But, it wasn't my older brother; it was my younger brother; and it wasn't with a snowball; it was a dirt clod. See? Who needs snow? (Besides skiers and snowboarders.)

No complaints here.

Actually, -39F is pretty much -39C anyway. -40 is where the two temperature systems "merge."

funny thing is, that if the forecast is right, we'll have exactly that much on wednesday night here. -39'C/-38.2'F..

Well it looks like most of England is going to have heavy snowfall tomorrow. Can't wait to see the news with reports of failed train services. Hopefully we'll get a couple of inches here in Essex.

Wow I haven't seen so much snow in ages! This is great, I feel 12 again, no work for me!

Welp

No driving for me. :( Oh well at least my handbrake cable wasnt frozen up, which is pretty common when it gets cold for my car.

First snow this winter and it's still snowing.

It's not much but it will be if it keeps snowing like that.

EDIT: It just stopped snowing. There's a lot more snow now than a few hours ago. It will be gone tomorrow.

At least 5 inches of it and more coming as it is still heavily snowing. we live in a town perched high on a hill, with big hills down to the main towns, its impossible to go anywhere, already seen someone slide helpleslly down one hill and someones SLK wheelspinng to get upa small hill!

We've only got less than an inch of snow up here in Sheffield so far and it's already almost stopped. Come on snow, you're the reason i bought a bloody 4WD!

Swindon got a nice light covering overnight, which made taking the kids to school quite good fun, fortunately for me I'm working from home today.

I'm not however going to take the old fence panels to the tip today, they appear to be a bit snowy.

The road I live on can be quite good fun to get out of in the morning when it snows, its steep enough to cause a few problems (such as a milk float and Lexus narrowly missing each other a few hours ago). Around a dozen of us shovelled the snow and put down grit and its quite clear now.

Call that snow, yah soft southern nancies?

We have absolutely hee-haw snow up in Scotland today. It's no fair! We're supposed to get more of it than you do!

It's heading north daan. It stopped here a couple of hours ago but has just started, although what had previously fallen had almost totally melted by the time the snow began again.

I did say it was a light covering, anyway this makes up for all the times you lucky buggers have got snow and we had to do without.

I also didn't think that Alex Salmond let southern snow get north of the border :)

What’s all this white stuff you guys keep taking pictures of?

So my parents woke up this morning, saw the amount of snow and checked the school website to find this...

Now, as i live in a stupid little village, there isn't any of my friends around. And plus i'm snowed into my village as all the roads out are back roads, and none have been cleared. Whats more funny, is two of the exits out of the village are hill's, and on both a car is stuck at the bottom!! haha. Amusing. So with my new found lonelyness, i went for a walk with my mother. We had a snowball fight, and fell over, and made this little snowman..

Just ignore the fact that they are arsenal hat's and scarfs. I didn't want to ruin any of my nice scarfs. =]

Whats a fun day, and now it's snowing again!!!

you guys get few inches of snow and schools are closed? we got like 2 ft and -22F/-30C and we still have to go to school.

We got very light snow this morning, it didn't settle though so everywhere just ended up very wet. Right now it's overcast.

They have a dandruff problem.

This week we had 14F with a wind chill of -4 and they cancelled school in about 5 counties for it being too cold because in rural areas the kids have to wait at the end of their drives for a bus and in weather like this they tend to run late. So, it becomes a safety liability to tell kids to stand outside for 30 minutes or so.

Oh, and we also had two schools closed due to the flu taking out like a third of the students.
