And the whole city stops when it happens because the hills make it rather difficult to get around...
That was one thing that really surprised me when I was out there. I didn't know Seattle was that steep. At least some of it, anyway.

Steep + ice = :scared: Duh.

FOG

Holy cow, its terrible out there. I can't even see across the street, I was amazed I made it home that easily. There is still 8-12"+ inches of snow on the ground, its 43F right now, and it'll be 60F tomorrow (plus rain)... The fog will be terrible.

Of course, until it all freezes in the next day or so. Then we're due for more snow on Sunday.

Huzzah.

That's what most people don't understand. Our hills are not midwest "hills"...they're steep (10% grades are normal all over the area). Add ice, and you have some piss-your-pants fun.

It's snowing again. I'm beginning to grow tiresome of this.

Hush you.

My car was clear 6 hours before I took this picture...

Snow tires /whining

Its definitely "green" outside... Most, if not all, of the snow is gone in front of my house. Its so warm that we've had the back door open all day here at work. Very nice.

Then it shall freeze. Then more snow comes.

thankfully most of the snow is gone here. rain and 40 degree temps to the rescue.

Yeah... we have mid 30's and light rain... snow is melting enough that we now have slush. Will all re-freeze in a day or two, and then we have horribly rutted ice roads. :indiff:

Oh, random spot flooding too...

The snow is finally melting! Of course, on my parents' street, this just meant that the slush was 8 inches deep. We did some rallying in my mom's 6 on the way to dinner :D.

Wow what a huge change in weather. A week ago it was about 17 degrees with well over a foot of snow. Then a couple days later 50 degrees, raining, and now all the snow is gone. :dunce:

We have 6" of new, fluffy snow this morning with another 2-4" over the next 4 hours, which put us over the top for the December snowfall record.

Is that a good thing?

After a week or so (I don't even remember it's been warm for so long) of October-like weather it's finally going to get cold again tonight. By that I mean mid-twenties, which of course is not cold enough. And snow showers. But see, I don't want showers, I want storms. Storms like Pako is dealing with.

We are supposed to get 2-4" this afternoon/tonight. That's not all that bad but we are also supposed to have 40mph winds.

I'm not sure how much snow we're due for on the opposite side of the state (presumably more), but we're already in the bitterly cold temps with a nasty wind chill. In the short time I've had to go outside helping people out, my God, my hands almost froze off.

I heard you guys had a pretty decent wind storm back in Michigan the other day. It was even in the news here.

We had some pretty good winds here too yesterday. I had to move a tree branch off our road today and the whole thing was covered in pine cones, little branches and pine needles. It was extremely cold with temperatures in the mid 30s and very high humidity and then some decent winds.

New years day in exactly 110 minutes, wasn't even warm enough to spend the night on the beach... :(

In the past two days ity's gone from 50 to 25. Just a little bit ago it was snowing at a whopping rate, probably 2-3 inches per hour. For ten minutes! W. T. F. Now the sun is peeking out and there's nary a flurry falling. How about we keep the heavy snow for on and off for a couple hours at a time for a week or so, eh? And then the next week, too.

Heh heh.

Its pretty boring up here. The only thing special has been the strong wind and bitter cold. It was sunny today, for a little while, but the temps never rose past the mid 20's. Still, we don't have to wait much longer for Spring. Well, until March anyway.

Here's some snow for ya, welcome to my house:

It's freezing, sunny and we have snow, almost as much as in Pako's photos. [

Nice house by the way!

We have some where around that much too, from what I can tell. It is getting pretty out of hand; snow removal crews were working when I was out at midnight, using dump trucks and front loaders to clear streets and get the snow somewhere else. What makes everything better is it got above freezing last week, so it rained a little. Which made for nice, dense, slush... that has now frozen and gotten more snow on it. Nice heavy wet snow...

At least I am getting a work out.

Can someone please explain how it's possible not to have any snow in the wettest city in the UK combined with the fact that it's in negative celsius pretty much all day (-6C when my dad went to work at 7am)! It's been like this for over a week now :banghead:

Though, on the plus side it is one less disrtraction while I try to revise.
