Those pics of the ZR1... is that tire deformation?

i was doing some time trials in the tii concept, then i moved to the evo x. what i noticed was the s2 tires on the evo x tuned had a different tread pattern. anyone notice this?, might be the wrong thread so i'd request the mods to move the post

I think visual tire deformation is irrelevant to the gameplay and barely visible in fast paced replays. If there is a slomotion option it could be interesting to see, but i dont understand why everybody seems to care about it. As long as tire deformation is a part of the physics engine its fine with me.

But since PD barly gives us any information about the inner works of their physics engine, we will probably never know for sure.
I dont get it why all of a sudden threads like these are started even before anything is released by PD. And trying to spot Tiredeformation on youtube videos is nearly impossible and even the pictures from the menuscreen cant clear things up.

I don't see what the big deal with it is, as someone said above you can't even see it in anything but screenshots so the only use it would have is in Photo Mode.

And Strittan what you mean is there has been no confirmation about tyre deformation from PD yet ;)

All cars can fly in gt5, because there is no proof they can't!

The POINT you missed, was that there is no hard proof of either. Just foolish to make a such harsh comment.

There also is no proof that cars can fly in GT5, so we don't know just yet. I don't know why you claim such a silly thing. Maybe you should start a thread about it?

I can't believe this thread is still active.

There is NO tire deformation in GT5. Is it really that hard to realise?

Again, no...

Care to find the outright comment from PD or Kaz saying this ?

If not spare the forum your pessimistic attitude to GT5

Didn't mean to make a harsh comment, but you have to be realistic. 99,9% we don't get tire deformation in GT5.

Why:
- It was never in the Gran turismo series
- Pictures showing no deformation, just a piece of the tire vanishing into the ground
- It was not in the gamescom demo
- There was never a rumor that it may happen
- kaz or Polyphony never said anything about it(they said a lot about other things)

Reasons to assume it will be in GT5:
- none

It's not proof, but unless we get suprised, there will be no TD in GT5.

pretty harsh comment. Care to proove that?

I take that as a proof, if it's not featured at this stage I don't think it will be when it's released either. And as MarkyMark8609 said, it's no big deal. If it was in, you'd hardly notice it...

Exacly, if it its in you won't notice it.. Besides I am 100% sure the physics of tire deformation, stress, and what not, will be there in GT5.. but I am 50 % sure fore visual aspect of it..

Just because it's not visual, doesn't mean that Gran Turismo 5 doesn't have tire deformation.

And why was this never brought up on these forums before Greenwalt hyped it up because they implemented it in to Forza 3?

I would really amazing if PD and turn10 showed how their physics model is made. There are lot technology demos of other games but racing sims seem like they are made in area 51 :)

I know forza is making a big deal of their tire deformation... I would think GT would annuonce it somewhere along the line if it were there.

I personally don't think it will be there visually... tires clipping through the ground? Yes... actually deforming? No...

^I can see the whole tire deformation thing that Forza 3 has being used against GT5 by kids thinking they know about physics.

"Well Forza's got tire deformation man! GT5 doesn't! It sucks! LMAO! ROFL!"

I think showing tire deformation is cool, but a little gimmicky since, well, you'll only really see it in replays and when really close up as well.

No...the deformation affects your car, and the cars handling. It's not just the appearance of deformation, but it's the affect it has on cornering, drifting, ride height, tire heat, wear and balance. That is part of the simulation. It wouldn't matter to me if they didn't actually show the tires deforming, so long as you have the physics that go with deformation.

Turn10 has allready got everyone hyped i guess, even GTPlanet. Visual tire deformation is irrelevant, you will barely see it in the end.
Iam sure GT5 will feature tire deformation, but iam also sure they wont visualize it . Its just something to show off and to show everyone: "look what we got, this proves its the definitive racinggame, bla bla bla."

Its the same with this 360 calculations per second for the physics engine and making everyone believe its a lot, but we dont actually know how many calculations the GT engine will do (or most of the other sims on the market). We only know SHIFT features 400 calculations per second, but just having more calculations does not make the game better. Its the same with the tire deformation.

Turn10 shows off tire deformation, but is still missing the rear wing of the Audi R8 that pops up at a certain speed and the Airbrake of the Mercedes SLR McLaren.

Why are people starting new threads every time some new feature for Forza 3 is announced, is this just fanboys going mad, or is it trolling, or viral marketing or something? It sucks to be on GTPlanet at the moment.

Custer did you look at the OP? This thread was created by GT fans touting tire deformation in GT5 and how it is yet one more way GT trounces F3... kinda turns your post on it's ear I would think :)

BTW I would not be so sure GT will calculate tire deformation... not calling it either way but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't there...

I did, i was following this and some other threads during the last months/weeks. The thread was created some time after tire deformation was announced for Forza 3 and you can never be sure about the motives of certain people to start a thread. Even if he had all the best intentions and really was sure to have spoted tire deformation its hard to believe.

But in the end there is no visual tire deformation so far.

And how can you justify this? The game still has some time before its released, and if they're on to fixing something like the damage, then I'm pretty sure they may as well be trying to fix tire deformation, since its a core aspect of driving, to leave it out is like taking the lettuce out of the burger.

I dunno we are so close to release (well theoretically) that I just can't see them still working on much... I reiterate testing takes a lot of time and last minute changes are risky in that respect.

Also there are a lot of fronts I keep hearing people comment that pd still has time until release. Its even less likely that they are all being addressed.

I still put out there that the demo we saw will be very close to what we get final release if gt5 comes out this year. Closer than not at least. And I still get the feeling kys statement that some things aren't finished is more a promise of perfection in gt6 than improvements still coming to gt5...

you're correct Devedander,

if it's a december release, right now, it's test/corrections time. It's way too late to add some features.

But the demo was perhaps an old build, who knows ? :)

Could have been, but then it begs why make your initial showing, with all eyes on you, an old build and then not disclaim it? I mean KY said the damage wasn't complete so as a disclaimer as to why it wasn't as impressive as some might have wanted... well along those same lines you would think he would mention that the demo build was old and not representative of how far they had come no?
