Top gear race

I despise the top gear race , those stupid vw vans, i already won grand turismo championship but i'm having a hard time with this race and with the rally any suggestions??

For the VW buses and the kubelwagens when you reach top speed only use about 3 quarters of the throttle, this stops the car bouncing off the rev limiter and makes the race much easier. For the lotus race just be very careful with all the controls otherwise you'll crash.

I also did that but it is still mind numbingly boring.

I didn't use the brake much for the bus challenge, I just used its weight to slow it a bit and turned in hard. Its much faster than following correct procedure.

It was hard for me when I 1st did it, but after the license tests, I beat it in a snap! Here's some good guidelines to take of how I did it:
Here's a map to help you:

Thanks to: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=151333 for the map.

1 & 2nd Laps:
1. At route A, draft position 11. This should give you some speed.
2. At turn B, brake somewhere near the red-and-white stripes vicinity & throttle out.
3. At turn C, overtake at the gap of which the opponents leave out. You shouldn't miss it. If you do, take note & restart.
4. At turn D, overtake at again another gap of which the opponents leave out. You shouldn't miss it. If you do, take note & restart.

You should be at position 10 or higher at this point.

5. At route E, Draft the opponent(s) in front of you. You should have enough speed to overtake one. If not, turn somewhere that you can so you can get space to brake for turn F.
6. At turn F, brake before the corner & then overtake at once again another gap of which the opponents leave out. You shouldn't miss it. If you do, take note & restart.

You should be at position 7 or higher at this point.

7. At route G, draft the opponent(s) in front of you. You should have enough speed to overtake one or at least halfway.
8. At turn B again, do not brake. Throttle release may be necessary. Progress to route H.
9. At route H, draft the opponent(s) in front of you. You should have enough speed to overtake one, two, or at least halfway.
10. At turn I, before the corner, go to the far right & progress in by going in a gap the opponents leave. You should be able to overtake one or multiple opponents during and/or after the corner. Another way is to follow the line, but turn to the right & overtake that way. If fails, progress to turn J.
11. At turn J, while being at the right, brake & then overtake outside of the driving line. Another way is to be in the line & then overtaking via taking a gap the opponent leaves.

You should be at position 5 or higher at this point.

Repeat the process to overtake to 1st place. If done early, maintain, monitor, & be cautious of your driving. And make sure to keep an eye on the lower positions. I hope this helps!

yep, you hit the nail on the head. for the kubelwagen once i get to 50mph i go to 3/4 throttle maybe a little less and it keeps it from hitting rev limiter and i gain a lot of ground against the AI

I use a DS3 and with the Kubewagen one I lift off briefly when I hit 50 mph and hit the button again when speed drops to 49 mph. Only drawback is watching the track as well!

The bus one is just a matter of watching what lines the other buses take and making sure they are out of your late braking zone. Also the only cones you need worry about hitting are the solid Red ones. Where there is one keep two wheels on the track side of the red and white line.

When I first played the Elise I couldn't understand why the back end would want to swap so quickly then after a little perseverance I found that when the back end started to go I just lifted the throttle slightly and let the steering wheel slide through my hands a little, it kind of corrected itself which was actually quite realistic as I'd driven an Elise on a few real life time trials.

FML!!! I've been struggling with the freaking bus for ages! Knowing it was only the solid red ones I had to worry about made it no problem! Thanks a mil, mate!

The Kube was no problem once I understood it. The Elise is another story, guess I'll wait with that one 'till I'm fully accustomed to my wheel.

Instead of starting another thread, I'm posting here. I have tried this Samba Bus test over and over and over again. Each time, with the same result. Failure. Before somebody posts "learn to drive", I didn't get to level 33 without some sort of skill. I'm stuck using the DS3. I have a wheel, but no way of mounting it where it is comfortable to use. I have read so many write ups, watched videos, and practiced as well as possible. What is the trick? I have done better with the tail happy Lotus and blast from the bast Kubelwagen, but I haven't got in first place yet. At least I can finish them.

Golding the Top Gear Track events, was the first things I did early game, now every car I win / buy / steal, gets tested on this track for about 3 to 5 laps, before I give it the thumbs up (garage) or down (car compacter). I thank PD for the annoying and what I thought was impossible to win (Lotus lol) event(s), for it has imprinted every inch of this track into my human memory. Now I vow to do the same with the Nürbring.
