Yes! I finally received my tickets today in the mail (bought from a scalper) for the US GP next weekend! I'm really starting to get pumped... :D

Man - I haven't been to a GP since '98 at Albert Park. I really miss it - although it would be a shame to hear those lovely engines misfiring under traction control again. I remember those poor 3.5 litres in the back of the cars in '93 coughing and sputting on the way out the hairpin at the end of Brabham Straight.

....so jealous....

Man you are lucky Jordan!
The closest i'll ever get to a Formula 1 race is if i win lotto and go fly over to Australia for the Melbourne Grand Prix.

I'd love to go see a real race though.
I'm sure TV doesn't do it justice. :)

Take lots of pics!
(i'll try spot you in the crowd when i'm watching the TV coverage. ;) )

Believe me - it doesn't even begin to do it justice. I remember first hearing the cars while looking for a place to park last year on the streets surrounding the track; it was like NOTHING I have ever heard before or since. And it was SO loud, too, even on the other side of the grandstands!

Well, if you watch the race, you'll definitely see me - just look at the seats directly above the first turn, and you'll be looking right at me somewhere in there! :)

Could you bring a huge sign (or flag) that says "GTPlanet.net" on it and wave it about allot!
Then we would know where your sitting and you might get a little free publicity :)

you lucky sod you i have to wait until next years Montreal GP but the wait will be well worth it

I tried to book tickets for the German GP but was shocked to find out that they are booked solid for the next 6 years but my name is down for tickets

the Germans must love their F1 Racing :D

That is so true - in 1998 I had an apartment with a mate of mine literally across the road from the Albert Park GP circuit (about 60-70 metres from the track, down near the powerhouse on the back of the circuit).

We had a BIG night on the turps on Friday night and didn't hit the sack until 3-4 am Saturday morning.

F1 warm up on Saturday morning kicks off at 9 am (qualifying starts at 11) and I forgot to set my alarm, so the first thing I heard at 9.02am was a McLaren Mercedes at 15000rpm.

We tried to ride it out, but the noise in the apartment was unbearable - I had a grandstand seat which I ended up wandering over to sit in, because there was no escaping it - even sitting in my car in my garage offered no relief!

It's a glorious sound, though. F1 up close is actually quite violent - everyone should see it live at least once.

Agreed. Once you've heard 22 F1 cars go around on lap one, you have to look really hard to find something that's louder.

Ah, violent, that's a good way to put it!

On a side note, I got myself an air horn today, and I'm leaving for Indianapolis tomorrow!!! :D
