I think the driver rating points system got tweaked and now is even worse to earn them. Yesterday I finished second in a field of 12. @Friday_GTRP finished first having a much higher score than me and even so, I lost a point. I finished where my score indicated I would, as I had the second highest rating. Doesn’t make sense to loose a point finishing where I should. Rant over. (Yeah yeah, who cares about the rating. Well, my OCD does.)

I don't understand the ratings! I tend to gain in points on Wednesday's and lose points on Monday's despite my results normally being better on Monday's!

Last night my points went up, but my rating went down (possibly because of the Harsk collision?).

After the current open wheel series (Lotus 25 and Lotus 98T) we switch to the Lotus 40 and GTE. I am planning to switch back on full damage - I am hoping that this will improve the racing and raise driving standards - especially in the mid-field. Any comments guys?

I’d personally love the extra challenge.

I have also sometimes that my T300 decides to push the share or PS button, luckily for me it didn't happen in an online race.

As much as i like to race with damage on, i think with this car and in this field it will be frustrating.

Didn't had much practice with the Lotus, which on the limit is a handfull.
Saw that @IBZ6L20VT had stellar pace and just decided to keep my cool and not touching the walls.

Some hairy moments when lapping traffic.

Definitely worth a try!

1:54.880. Quick lap after today’s race. With braver braking a second can be shaved off. With more practice on the last sector and in general in the whole track, lap times can drop more.

All for all a good lap to check my inputs. It’s all about anticipation reading the turbo and checking it against your steering angle (If you ever owned a car with a big, laggy turbo you’d know what I mean). When you manage to control that then the braking becomes important. You can brake later than you think.

Tomorrow I’ll write a few lines about today’s race.

Had another quick go at the 98T. Learning how to tame the beast. Little tweaks to my driving made a huge difference.

Managed to get 1:51.357 with room for improvement. I think we could see 1:50 from some of the top drivers or even breaking into the 1:49s. Hard to foresee with this game and Live Track 3.0.

It’s going to be a much easier race than Long Island, that’s for sure.

No armco here IB.👍 Its just trying to keep the car stable whilst applying full throttle.

A senior moment.

Anyway slightly delayed...
Any comments guys?
Considering that Pcars is a more complex and demanding game than GT I'm finding that the driving standards are generally quite good. Nobody goes out intending to spoil anyone elses race. It just that "things" happen on occasions, which they always will do with online racing.

The trouble with full damage is that it can be race ending when those "things" happen. We only have two half hour races per week so it's better if everyone has at least a chance to finish. It would be a shame to have put a bit of practice in but then have your race over on the first lap. That would not exactly improve the racing. There's not a restart button in multiplayer. ;)

I'd go along with Andreas and say why not go half way and use the performance impacting setting? That way drivers should hopefully be more cautious but if damage does occur they can get back to the pits if needed. Which in itself would add some extra strategy.

Since I would presume that the wheels remain attached using the medium option you could perhaps trial it on this championship to see how it goes. When reading though the recent patch notes it mentioned that they had improved the robustness of the open wheelers anyway.

Could be among those Famous Last Words. :)

You've raised some good points.

There's always the performance impacting damage, which doesn't totally wreck your car. I personally like the full damage on PC2, but I also agree that open wheelers are very sensitive to "things happen" moments.
I'm ok with whatever decision is made.

Porsche Pack - Classic Content Review

I posted the following elsewhere on GT Planet, but felt it might help people who don't have the Season Pass decide whether or not to get the Porsche Pack.

So far I've only tried the classic content (as that is what I am most interested in racing). I expected to like the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 the most, but at the moment it is my least favourite. It starts well (as expected for a rear engine car), but I can't get any speed out of it (wheel user). It doesn't seem competitive with the Ferrari Daytona - at least not in my hands, but it may be fine with a better driver. A lot more testing will be required because I am hoping to host a series for those two cars.

The Porsche 908 raced at the Targa Florio so I picked the nearest track in character in the game - Bannochbrae. This car is absolutely brilliant at this track - fantastic - thoroughly recommended! SMS have put this car in Prototype B, which is fine for now, but hopefully they add some more 3 litre prototypes and separate them out as it feels very strange sharing a track with a Lotus 40 - a bit of an immersion killer and the small number of liveries makes the car a poor pick for one make racing - surely Porsche could have been persuaded to allow some fictional liveries?

I would really like Classic Sebring so I could pretend to be Steve McQueen when he raced the 908 which he did complete with a dodgy foot - he was so keen that an injury which would have stopped anyone else didn't stop Steve!

I picked Brands Hatch for the 917K, but I chickened out of making it wet and trying for a Rodriguez moment. Really enjoyable car - fantastic and brilliant liveries. I will get a lot of use out of this car. SMS have put it in a class on its own - Prototype A, hopefully this means that other cars are coming to the class such as a Ferrari 512M and / S. IF this class is properly filled I think it will become my favourite in the game.

I tried the 917/10 Can Am car before the 917K which perhaps made that easier to drive! First try was at Laguna Seca - very challenging - the speed and acceleration are so good that I will need to relearn the circuit (and all circuits!) just for this car, however it is great fun with a good sound so well worthwhile. Next I tried Watkins Glen which really suited the car well and finished off with Silverstone Classic - you can really open the car up on this track and exploit the fantastic power and grip.

The 935/78-81 - I am sure there is something wrong with this car! Another poster said that the turbo wasn't working - it certainly feels that way and I found it impossible to keep up with the other AI cars in Group 5 - as if it has no power - hopefully SMS can fix this quickly.

I tried the Leipzig test track and really liked the bus stop style chicane in the middle of the big corner - I think this track will be well suited to the Formula Rookie and Lotus 25 and possibly to the slower saloon cars, so I will try those on it next and as another poster suggested maybe Ford Falcon V8 Supercar.

I feel like the 908, 917K and 917/10 will easily provide me with good value from this pack and I hope the next two packs contain some equally enjoyable cars.

Great news.

Classic Hockenheim has massive straights where you can relax for a while.
Yes, this is a track I really like...kind of a tribute not just to Senna, but to Jimmy Clark (my racing idol) who tragically died here in a Formula 2 race in '68 on this classic track variant...chicanes were added after his death due to high speeds at that time and tire concerns resulting.
What a waste of a very great driver and person .

Sick, I would like to 'give it a go' with race tonight....ok?
Sick's usually at work until shortly before race time so I expect he won't see your message until much later, if at all. But I'm sure he'd be pleased, just like the rest of us, to see you on track again "giving it a go". :)

Corrected that for you. ;)
