Wasn't paying attention to the stream of messages when second lobby was setup so i am sorry to all for causing confusion and flashing my headlights towards several guys.
Well, done and dusted ...

As promised, I am back uploading videos of the next race:

I must admit that this one was probably the combination that took more tries to get a nice lap together. And even so, there are plenty of minor mistakes during the lap. I can go faster but then consistency drops and it’s really hard to nail a lap.

If I get more time to practice and a better example I’ll upload it.

My advice to those who struggled in Ruapuna is to practice, as Long Beach is quite unforgiving with this car.

I found car the was quite, response with throttle, needed too be careful, in and out of corners.
Plus practised in wrong car, was Stockcar, Ruapuna, can be quite an understeering track, if you in too quick.

Thanks

@Friday_GTRP: @beachboy6658 was asking the other day about a good YouTuber with advice on how to improve lap times.

I remember that some months ago you recommended one but I can’t remember his name. Can you?

Cheers!

I've got so many videos to watch that I haven't got any time left for racing. :p

Quick race report. I'd done a bit of testing in the V8 and was fairly used to it so I was quite pleased in the pre-race practice session to set a decent time that was close enough to the top guys. Unfortunately during the proper qualifying session I found that Pcars had lost my wheel - again. I had to restart PC and rejoin. I hadn't got to much time left to set a grid space without pushing it so I decided to practice my pit entering. So I started from the back which, due to the slightly mixed up restart in the new room, left me a bit of catching up to do. I had a good race with everyone though, keeping it on the black stuff and gaining 6 places. The final few laps with bichu-mau and Harsk were particularly fun.

What about corners like druids, can you late apex here?

I guess it’s Druids at Brands Hatch (not the Druids at Oulton).

I would recommend late braking and actually trail braking if you can manage it. It’s a hairpin where you can carry quite a good deal of speed to make the car rotate.

My approach is different to most people on this corner and I actually hit the apex quite early, stay on it and then start looking to open the trajectory to maximise traction (always tricky over the crest).

I love this corner and usually make time over others on it.

Every time I try to exit the time trial
Mode my game freezes. Same if I try to get into tuning setup.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks @jammy21. I’ll look into that.

In the meantime I got a spare 20 minutes which I used to improve my lap time circa 0,6 seconds down to 1:18.178. (I actually made a 1:18.060 lap but decided against uploading the video because I caressed one of the walls)

It’s annoying to see the 1:17s so close but I don’t have time for more practice. Maybe you can do it and upload the lap ;)

1.18 that's really good DD, don't think you can late apex any of these corners.
Hit the wall maybe, been having some freezes too, annoying.

Anyone how too change brake balance, found where it is, don't how to adjust.

For me, this car requires early braking and late full gas. At least with the loose setup that’s how I got the best times.

As for the braking balance, once you assign the ‘+ front’ and the ‘+rear’ on your wheel (or keyboard), it’s just a case of pressing the required button to achieve the balance you’re after. You get a message in black and white at the bottom centre of the screen with the new balance.

If memory serves, this car comes with 55 as default. I leave standard BB for this track but I reckon that something between 58 and 60 should give you a more predictable and controllable braking.

I found the balance in settings menu, press R2 to middle column. Brakes were at 90%, turned down to 80, then balance. Car doesn't lock up when brake hard, this is on stable.

That’s for the brake strength (less call it that) and it determines that with a determined amount of pedal pressure how strongly the car is effectively braking.

Brake balance is the bias between the front and rear axles. That’s why you need two buttons, to move it towards the front or rear axles.

It’s on the game play settings I believe. They are buttons you assign and a car setup parameter as well.

Unfortunately, I have to work next Wednesday evening, so I will have to skip Long Beach :boggled:
So good news for any reserve drivers !

Wish you all good luck this coming race and hope to see you all soon at Silverstone Classic the 23rd of May !

Very fun race yesterday. I wasn't fast, but with my ibuprofen doping I managed to be consistent.
I had a fun battle at the start with my teammate keiros and Friday though they ultimately made some mistakes and I went through to start chasing DD.
Stupidly I took some damage on pit entry and it might have cost me a few seconds, and DD had a comfortable lead that he kept to the end.
I love brushing walls in touring cars, too bad external mirrors don't take damage in the game.

My footage below. Sorry I didn't direct the replay to watch other fights

I didn't have a bad race considering I'd not had any practice. I couldn't manage to complete a good lap in Andreas' pre-race room so I was quite pleased to finish the actual race without damage. After a bit of a fun tussle with Sick for the first few laps I began to get a feel for it and settled into a rhythm. Kept it slow(ish) and steady.
I know classic Silverstone better so I hope to creep up to 8 points there. :)

Yeah that pit lane is a bit awkward! I nearly overshot. I'm not sure how the game would react to you reversing into the pits.

@Sick Cylinder could you put the pit window on the thread please. It's when I drop out of the game to read the PSN messages that it sometimes looses my wheel when I return - and I have to restart Pcars. So I try not to look at those messages until after the race.
(Or you could put it on the messages the day before, I'd catch it then.)

I wasn't fast

You were fast. You might were slower than your potential best, but don't say you weren't fast! :scared:;)

Pretty straightforward race for me. Had a good qualifying session where I beat my PB and broke the 1:17 barrier.

On the race, I built a 10 second gap during the first laps where I got the fastest lap of the race. After that I just managed the gap by taking little risk. In the end, @Tavilha managed to reduce the gap to 3.5 seconds.

I am chuffed to have earned the Grand Chelem. :D:dopey::cheers:

I have done a quick practice session for next week. Water builds up on the track so I decided to upload my last lap.

This game features variable weather even with light set up. The back of the track was dry whilst the rest was wet. So you need to adapt your driving and braking from one corner to the next one.

I set a time of 1:30.500 but that’s indicative as the circuit changes from lap to lap. There is much more time to make being more aggressive on the braking but the variable conditions and the lack of reference points makes this really hard.

I assume that the gap between the top and the bottom of the grid will be bigger than usual.

Any questions, let me know :)

So that was another race that went from bad to worse. During qualify two times where i was on a flying lap that might have brought me a high 17 but due to traffic binned it.
I am not very fond of the current starting procedure because the time lost at the start 5-6 sec for me i tried to make up for that as soon as possible resulting overdriving the car and damage it (that's my problem, i know)
