I would love to see some night races, at least in some well-lit tracks as Sakitto (The Ferris wheel is spectacular at night). What do you say @Sick Cylinder?

Yes definitely - we have a replay of the 1967 World Sports Car Championship coming up on Monday's and Group 6 + Porsche 935 coming up on Wednesday's. I will be very interested to see what comes in the Le Mans pack (hopefully June) and the Ferrari pack (September?) - hopefully some content that we can put to good use.

If there are any tracks that people really like at night it is worth mentioning them in this thread so they can be included in some future series.

I was at Brands Hatch this morning for a test day (I ought to be asleep already as I'm getting up early to attend qualifying) - I saw this car, which had the biggest racing engine I've ever seen - 572 cubic inches (9.4 litres!) - the owner was kind enough to remove the bonnet (hood) for me (it is on the roof).

PS - more pictures coming to the Monday thread of the 2018 FIA Masters Historic Festival.

Is it going to be broadcast anywhere?

It’s hard to predict anything with Live Track, but I bet that someone of the likes of Tavilha or Friday can easily improve my lap time by a full second at least.

Anything under 1:48 starts to be a decent time and under 1:46 a solid good time.
DD I think I've had an epiphany!!!!! Tried changing various FFB setting.Made a massive difference to how close you can drive to the limit without spinning when you can feel what the cars going to do through the wheel(obvious really). Also thought that one lot of settings suited all cars.I now realise FFB settings have to be carefully adjusted for each car. Can't believe I never realised this sooner. So taking all that into account I'm pleased to say I've managed a 1:45.9 in the Falcon at Sakitto! There for my sim set-up has escaped going in the nearest skip!Happy days!

I don't think so - I didn't see any cameras anywhere except the Go Pro's mounted on the cars - so presumably there will be lots of onboard footage coming up. Until then enjoy these shots!

PS - I'm late setting off - I was looking forward to qualifying, but the weather is disappointing at the moment.

Quite a few of those cars were at the Algarve Classic Festival last year. Absolutely gorgeous. Those classic F1 didn't come though

When everyone is practising, are just going around the track by yourself? I would like too chase my own ghost, find quite useful in over games.

When was in time trail mode, wouldn't let me in game cept freesing having to restart the game, took up loads of time.🤬:boggled::ouch:

Nowadays I’m on my own on the track. In the GT days I was chasing faster guys’ ghosts. That’s how I improved my lap times.

I didn’t try much of the ghost mode in PCars.

When practising I always have the best lap delta time on. Then I try different approaches to corners and check if they represent an improvement or not.

When I practice I do qualifying session then 10 lap race with full grid of AI.Think it makes it more interesting than slogging round an empty track also good for over taking practice. I used to have AI set to 80% but since finding out about FFB settings I now set to 100%.Won my first race at100% this morning. Next time I practice will set to 120%.

Thanks DD Beach, try a some laps later.👍 My Al is set too 42 in the Lotus, but the Ford runs away:scared:

Seems we're all slightly different.

If I don't know the track I run a few laps by myself just to get the overall layout in my head. Then I usually jump into a identical 15 car grid AI race of a set number of laps. Always starting from the back of the grid I then try to gain as many places as possible, repeating the race until I can work my way cleanly towards the front before the finish. It depends on the track and car but I generally run the AI at around 75 strength and 55 aggression.

That's a whopper of a Barracuda! I would imagine the fuel tank was bigger than 9.4 litres.

Sorry to announce but I'm joining the championship series for next 3 months so my racing here stop now and all my PCars2 playing time will forward that series.
@Sick Cylinder if you can't get anyone for next race to take my spot I might be able to join you this one more time, but it will be last one.

Sorry to here you will be unable to race - good luck with the new series and come back any time - you are always welcome.

I've been running 100% aggression on the AI for a long time now - I only vary the skill level. Try that @IfAndOr - it makes them less timid and a bit faster. I find I have to vary the skill level massively - by as much as 100 points. For some cars like the Falcon a 120 setting will be faster than anyone in our series by several seconds a lap whereas 120 in the Lotus will produce a lap several seconds slower than Friday or DD etc.

I normally practise with just a few AI - perhaps 3 and have them set too fast so I'm struggling to keep up - a bit like real life!

The identity of seven of the cars in the Le Mans pack has been leaked. Depending on the pack content I may be making some changes to the next scheduled series - It will be preferable if everyone gets the Le Mans pack, but if not there will be an alternative car option.

I will give it another go but with higher aggression and my fuller grids I find they often crash into each other more often. Especially on the first corner (a rolling start helps). And if I turn the skill up too far the front runners get away before I can battle my way through. Again like real life I suppose. :)

As you say it's a balancing act to get the various combinations correct. But it's good that we can do that - better than fixed settings.

And talking about practising, I haven't yet done any for this weeks races! So the battling my way through might be very appropriate.

Hi guys!

@Sick Cylinder, how will you handle pitting in Sakitto. I've been testing and found that the proper pit lane entry (see below)

33945012_10160323419535545_6908198357219409920_o.jpg

is way slower than entering pits further ahead (after the descending right hander, where the cones are). The game doesn't penalize you for entering the pits through this "shortcut" (see below)

Will there be a rule for entering the pits properly / will there be penalties for drivers who take this shortcut? It's best to clear this now rather than later.
Cheers!

Thanks - I didn't know that - Yes, we will need a penalty even though I trust all of you to be good sportsmen! The penalty will be loss of 1 place in the results.

This championship is turning out quite dramatic.

Here's my footage:

Race

Replay:

DD's crash

My crash:

The footage of my accident highlights how stupid I was.

Too eager on the dirty part of the track, trying to get two fast laps before pitting, overconfident that the car would stay within the track extents even though I was right on the edge of the track.

Curiously I remember hitting the wall sideways. In the video it was a pretty much frontal impact. I still don’t know why or how I got the disqualification. I got a brief message about reversing in the pits but it does not loot like I reversed, at least by much.

Gran Turismo's photo mode and video replays are amazingly life-like these days. :p

Look's like you (and your little one) had a good time @Tavilha
The Civic sounds nice. The track seems to be wider than in GT, especially that first chicane. I could never get that right.

That bridge sure is spectacular. There was quite a lot of bricks used!

Excellent. Thanks for sharing @Tavilha!

You need to expand on how was the experience.

If you don’t mind me asking, how come you got a RHD Type R in Portugal?

Ronda is a small town, and the center is very touristic. There's a path down the slope you can take to better see the bridge from the bottom. With the kid it's a bit trickier to get around so we didn't go there. Andaluzia is quite a beautiful region.

The Ascari Race Resort is about 15 min drive away from Ronda and as soon as you arrive, you know it's not a "normal" race track. It's indeed a race resort. There are no grand stands, no giant advertising billboards, and no starting grid. In fact I never heard of official races taking place there. The paddock is very people friendly, and it seems almost like an amphitheater.
From the driver's perspective, the track is about 3 cars wide, which is enough for the track day style driving, and very very technical. Except for the longer full throttle back straight, as soon as you clear a corner there's another coming up. It feels a lot faster and more rhythmic than in GT probably because of the game's awful FOV. Even so, it's a long track, and it took me about 2:40.x to complete a lap in the Type R.

@IfAndOr, someone actually crashed a Hyundai Accent trophy car there against the tyre barrier! In the real track you're allowed to have all 4 wheels on the chicane's curbs, so it's just a straight cut.

@IBZ6L20VT, this car is actually british. The chassis is ok but a lot of the bodywork is rotten... it's going to serve as a donor to a LHD bodyshell we're working on (but the rollcage wasn't installed in time). I was surprised how well I adapted to the RHD, albeit with the occasional gear miss.

If you have the chance I strongly recommend a drive in this circuit.

Thanks for taking the time to expand on your experience.

I've been to Ronda but around 25 years ago. Excellent little village. Andalucía is a magnificent region. Shame that 95% on the tourists only focus on the sun, golf and beaches.

Ascari has to be an amazing track to go on a track day. Many brands choose it to show for the first time to the press performance models. Great variety of corners and straights.

I may be getting older as my hunger for track days is decreasing and I see myself spending more and more time at the other side of the barriers. It seems rather improbable that I ever drive at Ascari but who knows!

Nice story about the Type R. You get a 'rough around the edges' one for £2k or even less.
