Porsche 908 Championship Points
View attachment 779504

Congratulations to Champion DD84UK and Vice-Champion Lancerevoo.

New Series: Group 5
View attachment 779505

Above: Pro and Pro+ ranked drivers use the Porsche 935/80 for all six rounds.

Am and Am+ ranked drivers use a BMW 320 and Ford Capri with a car change after three rounds. Example: Harsk does the first three rounds in a BMW 320 race number 13 then switched to a Ford Capri race number 16.
By the by, congrats and salutations to DD, lance, and Tav! And look at you, If! 4th place! Wow...:cheers:

Other than the Capri I've never really tried the group 5 cars before. They are a handful to drive! I think I may need to change tyres during the race. :)

@Sick Cylinder I notice there's a Skyline (red #11) amongst them which you probably haven't used because there's only one colour choice. I really quite like the feel of it and it's a great shame not to use it. As current Monzanapolis champion (:sly:) can I request a car change? It might be somewhat slower but that's OK. I really haven't got to grips with the Porsche anyway. It would add a bit of extra variety.

I wonder why there's only one colour choice for the Skyline?

Maybe only one ever competed?
Possibly, that does look like the one from the game. Perhaps SMS only had the licence for that particular one and couldn't improvise with other liveries.

I don't speak japanese, but the guy seems scared s***less of the car
He does seem a little in awe! (@reefer?)
Tsukuba probably isn't the best of circuits to try out a Group 5 car out, there's only the one long straight.

Yes!

David Hobbs drove one (number 14) in the 1982 Kyalami 9 hours partnered with Masahiro Hasemi and British rally driver Tony Pond. They qualified 10th, behind a load of Porsches, but Hobbo crashed during the race. He also raced the BMW 320 for three seasons and the Porsche 935 - the BMW was fast, but he says was normally too fragile for long races. I strongly recommend his book Hobbo for everyone's Christmas List!

Cheer's Sick. I'll try not to do a Hobbo then and crash. I can't rule it out though.
There was more than one Skyline racing then?

Interesting about the BMW. I quite like it in the game, it's got much less of a turbo kick to it than the others. Should do well I think.

Sick, I think you better put me on as a reserve in both leagues, until such time as I can solve this dang internet issue. I guess you saw my message yesterday that I could not do quali or race, getting kicked out before I could even get onto the track this time. Yesterday my signal was poor (5 to7 mb download, 450 or so kb upload) , but also the ping rate has jumped to 87...I am not real savvy in these things but, but I know this combo won't cut it.
I can run events with 2 or 3 people fine, and was able to do our practice yesterday with I think 8 or 10 guys(?) Ok, but as soon as I try to join a room with the 15 or 16, poof I am gone.
Living here in this podunct little farming town has always meant sketchy internet service...with no end in sight. Only one source is available out here, and we are at their mercy for service, really, really sucks.
I don't want to hold down a regular seat, when I know you have guys wanting to race every week, so go that direction. Maybe we will move to another area next year, something we have talked about doing as my health improves...meantime, if I catch a week where the signal tests higher again, I will try to join you guys.

It is the distance I think that causes the problems and your rural connection probably compounds the trouble. It would be a shame to loose you because of that though. We'll have to run a cable across the Atlantic direct to your house. ;)

Although it can attract a lot of drivers it's rare that the race has the full complement of 16 drivers. So it's probably best if there are good connection days where you can join and stay then go for it. Of course if you've practiced it would be a pain not to get in.

Just checking, are you connected to your modem via a cable? (Not Wi-Fi) Your upload speed might be the main problem.

Yeah, been all thru that in the past. I have about 150 foot run to get cable to shop where I race from where the modem is. Even at that, the numbers I gave earlier were from device right in same room with modem. It is just a sucky system...we had it fixed after complaining for over a year once, and now it apparently deteriorated again.
I will keep an eye Wednesdays to see how many guys are showing up...if it a smaller group I can give it a shot. Better to do that from reserve spot though...

Track history, maps videos.
I wish they'd use the fast Nissan chicane again and get rid of that final chicane. That's the trouble when cars (and bikes) get too fast, they have to try and slow them down to the detriment of track flow.

I think there's a layout in Assetto Corsa with just the final corner. Easing the power in onto the straight is great.

Similar to AC version of the 1966 Silverstone Classic track, when the final chicane was not there yet; instead there is a nice some what sweeping final corner onto the finish line straight..
