It's sarnie time. Salami milano, chorizo, jalapeño Philly, smoked Applewood cheddar on Warburton seeded batch bread.

It's a bit dry without the mayo I forgot to put in and maybe I should look into getting some dill pickles or rutabagas for next time.

For breakfast:

scrambled eggs
homemade biscuits w/homemade sausage gravy

Possibly the last Big Arch with Bacon I'll ever get my jaws around as Mccy D's are ceasing the promotion at the end of the month. It's just regular Big Arches after that.

Fortunately I just repeated my previous order on the app and they delivered a couple of Bacon Arches (and two double Filet-O-Fishes for my mum) without quibbles. I guess it's a secret menu item or they used some of the bacon from the Maple & Bacon Chicken they're doing as part of the World Menu Heist promotion.

I cooked a pork shoulder joint this afternoon - 4 hours work and it was almost a total disaster.

I added water to the pan in the oven and kept my eye on it for an hour and a half, but I was tired and rather stupidly went upstairs for a lie down. By the time I went back to check on it an hour later, the water had dried out and the herbs and veg were cremated.

The pork was mostly cooked so I took it out, and cut it up. The 'crackling' was rock hard and inedible, and the pork was a mixed bag of nasty bits, dried out bits, bits that were not cooked enough, and the rest (about 50%) was lovely and tender - but there was just too much waste and it was very disappointing not being able to make a gravy out of the drippings (as the fat was burnt as well).

I got enough decent meat for 2 portions and served it with tenderstem broccoli and baby potatoes - plus a hastily made gravy, which made it a bit tastier. All in all, though, it was very disappointing and I won't be trying that again.

But apparently not at the same time.

Dinner last night; there’s this Mediterranean, Latin fusion restaurant I like, so I tried to recreate a few of their menu offerings.

Chicken leg quarter marinated in pepper seasonings, then seared, roasted and finished in the oven, fresh pita, then an assortment of peppers roasted, potatoes, fried plantains, broccoli, and Mutubal made using roasted eggplant and roasted garlic.

Off camera was the marinade reduced and finished with a honey water mix, which was nice for dipping things in.

Had some macaroni and cheese, mixed in with three packets of Maggi Hot Heads Roasted Chicken seasoning (see picture below).

I loved these so much, I can't help but eat a lot of these noodles, both as it should be eaten, or it's seasonings added on other foods.

It's October, and it's still warm enough for tuna salad. Thanks, A.I.! /s

Barbecue Chicken Sandwich with a Salad. Odd combo but basically, we had left over chicken from a different meal so that was cooked with Barbeque Sauce and we decided to order Salad as well.

Had Wendy's today. Noticed they went old school with the Fry pack (Something I remember as a child)
