Our stay at the hotel included a three course meal so I intended to use it to its fullest.

Starter was scallops, saffron orzo pasta, chorizo, chive & black ink tuile.

Already WAY fancier than I would ever order.

Main was duck breast, duck leg croquette, fondant potato, beetroot purée, carrot, orange & cherry jus.

Now that's just laughable. I don't know what half of tham means.

Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch sauce & vanilla ice cream.

Finally something my speed!

And I had some of the dessert my wife couldn't finish. Chocolate & chilli mousse with honeycomb & raspberry sorbet.

The best £120 I didn't spend!

My latest Philly cheesesteak wrap order narrowly missed the free shipping threshold so I added a bottle of honey jalapeño sriracha to the basket to tip it over the limit. Test driving it with this vegetarian pak choi ramen I found in the bottom of the fridge.

[EDIT] The burn is there but it has a slow attack phase.

I got my wires crossed last night. That was the scallops, not muscles. Phrase still applies, though.

My wife and I stopped into a whisky shop just outside Edinburgh Castle on our first day because they had a free sample sign. It was only about 15ml but the nectar whiskey did a beautiful job of warming me up. This hotel has a whisky flight tasting you can sign up for but I doubt I'll be doing that.

The scallops were 22, duck 28 and pudding 8. My wife's soup 9, chicken 26, mousse 9 and drink 12.

For an early morning snack, I just finished eating some leftover pancakes from Golden Corral. We usually buy them in bulk and freeze them for the week. And I ate some sausage patties. I'm full, now I can go to sleep for a while.
